I mean, on 32-bit Windows Vista, it tells you there's 4 GB available, and I haven't seen anything anywhere saying it uses less—at least not on my end.

The system reports 4GB, sure, but the actual usable amount is lower—it’s just basic math involving 2^32, which lands right around that 4GB mark. Plus, you have to account for the VRAM on your graphics card, which technically means you actually have more than 4GB of total RAM available to the system...

So, can I actually bridge Windows 7 and Windows XP together? The issue is that whenever I try using ICS, it keeps forcing that same old IP address, 192.168.0.1, but I really need it to be 192.168.137.1 instead.

Of course you can...☕

Look, I’m running the 7000 version of Windows 7 on x86, and honestly? Everything is working perfectly. At first, my Realtek drivers were acting up, but once the new ones dropped, everything smoothed out. I’ve got zero complaints. This is easily the most stable beta I've ever touched. I installed this about three weeks ago, and I haven't seen a single error message since. If you ask me, it feels way more stable than the Windows Vista build I was using before.
My original plan was just to give it a quick spin and then roll back to Windows Vista, but after seeing how well this actually performs, I’m sticking with it. I’ve been playing F.E.A.R. 2 and Assassin's Creed on max settings at 1680x1050, and there isn't a single stutter. I really didn't expect a beta to run this smoothly. There's just no reason for me to go back to Windows Vista now.

I think I read somewhere that they’re running into some issues with MP3 files, is there any truth to that?

I’m currently running Windows XP and I'm trying to get Windows 7 up and running alongside it. I know I need to install it on my D drive, but every time I try to start the installation, I hit this wall. I can't tell if I'm just doing something wrong by launching it straight from the desktop or if it's something else entirely. ===

To be honest, I've never actually performed a Windows installation before. 😂

There was an MP3 bug once, but it's been fixed.

Look, you need to go into the BIOS, set the boot priority to CD-ROM, and then just do a clean install by formatting the drive. Honestly, that’s the best way to ensure everything actually works right without any junk left over. If you haven't messed with installing Windows before, yeah, you're gonna hit some walls, but everyone starts somewhere. You'll figure it out eventually... nothing to lose here. 😉

You'll pick it up eventually. There's no way to truly screw this up if you take it step by step. 😉

Got it, thanks.

cosmicpilot9, you're full of it 🙂

The Beta 7-ce isn't bootable, so your only option is running the installation directly from within Windows.

Man, you have no clue... it totally is.
Look, I downloaded the image, burned it to a DVD, set my BIOS to boot from the CD, and installed it just like any other OS. Formatted the partition, ran the install, then tossed in some drivers later... boom. Done.

It’s not just 7000, it’s 7022 and still going...

Just finished the installation today. 🤷

I don't know about you guys, but I grabbed the 7000 version directly from Microsoft's site a few months back and everything went smooth as silk during installation. Honestly, I have no clue what you're all complaining about—when I ran the installer, it clearly stated it was the 7000 version, and that's still what my system shows today. If anyone actually thinks I'm making this up, I can easily drop a screenshot in here... but seriously, it's constantly updating too, feels like there's something new being added almost every single day. For me, it works great. No complaints whatsoever.
It’s totally possible someone else had issues or dealt with crashes, though, because at the end of the day, it all comes down to how much of a beast your PC is.

I just gave Windows 7 a spin, and I think I’m already in love. It’s such a great OS!
Maybe even the best one yet? Honestly, it feels better than Windows Vista xD

I honestly can't quite wrap my head around why everyone says Windows 7 is such a massive step up from Windows Vista, because if you're running Vista with Service Pack 2, it feels pretty much like Windows 7 to me... I mean, personally, I actually think Vista looks a bit nicer, especially with that taskbar and everything...

rustydriver23 As I was saying...
I honestly can't quite wrap my head around what makes Windows 7 stand out from everything else... It’s clearly superior to Windows Vista, especially since even with Service Pack 2, that OS was a total mess... Almost there... Just like Windows 7... I have to say, personally, I find the aesthetic much more appealing... especially that toolbelt...

Look, you even admitted yourself that the week is better... 😁
