Steven White96 said:Can I actually run my current games—stuff like xp-recimo pes 2009, Mirror's Edge, BioShock, whatever—on Windows 7 RC? And is there going to be any noticeable hit to performance or visual quality?

I tried getting Counter-Strike: Source up and running, but it keeps throwing some compatibility error at me—who knows what's up with that... I'm still just rocking Windows XP for everything right now! 🙂

Edit: But hey, looking back at that link, it actually says CSS works fine on Windows 7 🙄

I’d personally consider going with the seven-day trial, but I really have no desire to go through the whole reinstall process again in just a week. It makes me wonder—is Windows 7 actually stable enough to rely on, similar to how we used to trust Windows XP, even if it isn't quite finished yet? 😁

Honestly, I think Windows 7 is way more stable than Windows XP. I don't even bother booting up XP anymore—it just drives me crazy! xD Still got it on a separate partition, though, just in case...

Personally, I’m finding build 7057 way more stable than 7077. On this 77 version, I keep hitting random errors—like Windows Explorer just hanging on me out of nowhere—but somehow, my games have been running totally fine so far. Anyway, I just got some email from Microsoft hinting that an RC 5.5 might be dropping soon, and apparently, we'll be downloading it straight from them just like we did with the beta. Honestly, who knows what that's actually going to look like 🤷

So, starting today, we can finally grab the RC from the web. Since this is just a test version, the system will automatically send anonymous telemetry back to the engineers at Microsoft. If you spot anything that needs fixing or improving, let them know... that way, they’ll have several more months to polish these new Windows updates and roll out the final version early next year, which should run flawlessly without any issues.

Here are the download links for the RC versions, available exclusively for those with MSDN access:

So, I'm downloading this new build right now, but honestly, this is probably the last one I’ll bother grabbing before the final version actually drops.

Hey everyone—new here and already running into a wall. I can't get any mounting software to work since nothing seems compatible with my Windows 7 Ultimate 64. 🙏

Grace Morris6 I didn't catch what was said—looks like the message got cut off. What's the word?
Hey everyone, I'm new here and honestly, I'm hitting a wall. I can't get a single mounting program to actually work—everything I try claims it isn't compatible with my Windows 7 Ultimate 64. I already wasted some time messing around with Daemon Tools 4 and Magic ISO, but no luck there either. Does anyone have a fix for this?🙏

Check this out: http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html

Works perfectly on my end.

Hey, if anyone actually managed to snag today's RC build...

Can you tell me which build version this is?

So, I think it was last week—or maybe longer ago, honestly, I lose track—but I finally grabbed 7100. Everyone was making such a massive deal about it being like RC software or something.

But I’ve got this nagging feeling that this is actually a newer build... plus, I see it's got XP mode built right in.

Tried that too—still nothing. Can't even get the driver to install.

Just try using PowerISO instead.

So, about that key I got with Windows 7—how long does it actually stay valid before the final version drops, or how does that even work? And can I actually go ahead and run my Windows updates normally with it right now?

Daemon Tools 4 works just fine on Windows 7 http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/home

It works perfectly for me.

Anyway, if anyone happened to grab today's RC...

Could you let me know which build version this actually is?

Because I downloaded 7100 last week, or whenever that was, and everyone was saying that was the RC...

But I have a feeling this one is even newer, plus I see it's got XP mode.

😁😁That's the exact same build you grabbed a week ago! It's 7100!! That's the one we all grabbed off the torrents.

Every single test build except for 7000 stays active until March 2, 2010. So that goes for this RC too!! And yeah, you can run updates just fine.

I grabbed both the x86 and x64 versions—got them burned to DVDs and I'm definitely gonna test 'em out tonight! 🙂

Right. Let us know how they differ regarding the UI, speed, RAM usage... things like that.☕

Wait, isn't it true that x86 runs on one type of processor while x64 requires another? Could someone please clarify how that works?

No, x86 runs on both types of processors (32-bit and 64-bit), whereas x64 only works on 64-bit ones

Guys, I need some help here—God knows if I'm even doing this right. Like I mentioned yesterday, I'm totally new to all this. I just got my high-speed internet hooked up and had Windows 7 Ultimate installed. Before this, my PC was flying—everything was smooth—but now? It takes an absolute eternity just to open a single window. A buddy told me my Intel 3.5, 2.2GHz motherboard is just too weak and that the modem is choking the system. Is there any truth to that?😕

Is that actually true? Or am I just losing my mind here?😕

Tell your buddy he should save that nonsense for the joke section of a tabloid! Seriously. First off, that’s not a motherboard, it’s the processor. Get it right. And how much RAM are we even talking about here? I need context! When you say everything is "slow," are you whining because your internet connection is garbage or is the whole damn computer crawling like a snail? Give me some specifics!
