I finally managed to carve out a week away from my college coursework, so I dove straight back into training. A week of solid work is definitely better than nothing at all.
To give you some context, I haven't really trained since mid-September of last year; I'm planning to get back into a serious routine once I wrap up my finals in early July. 😢

These photos are actually from last week. I only took shots of my legs because my upper body has completely atrophied, and whatever muscle is left is buried under a layer of fat.
(By the way, I haven't worked my legs since August 2010.)

I just stumbled upon two more photos from last summer

One was a bit spontaneous
Now, I wasn't exactly at my peak here; my best shape was actually a few pages back

image

And one that was a little less spontaneous (taken about two weeks after the previous one)

Life just keeps throwing curveballs at me... sickness, college stuff, just general life chaos... so my progress has been pretty pathetic lately... but hey, at least I've still got some attitude...
The only things that actually saw any real growth were my quads and my calves (I guess I just push those the hardest for some reason, though maybe I should probably focus more on upper body instead)... if nothing else, I'll be ready to hang out with the soccer players this summer...
I ended up gaining 15 pounds in a single month just by eating whatever... the goal now is to lose about 7 or 8 pounds under control and then see where I'm at...

One thing that's actually keeping me happy is how much easier it is to lean out now... my body picks up definition way faster than before. My plans are basically getting pushed back a year...

I'm jumping in here too, and I finally worked up the nerve to share a photo 😁
So, I'm 20 years old, 110 lbs, and 5'4", which means I have a pretty petite frame. But my biggest issue right now is this belly situation. It wouldn't be such a huge deal if I weren't so thin overall, but because I'm slender, it really "pops" out and I just want it gone... Every bit of fast food I've ever eaten seems to go straight to my stomach!
I've been working hard and ended up looking like what you see in the picture. I started hitting the gym about a month ago, and I can see some progress, but I definitely want more 😁
Any advice is welcome! 😍 Honestly, I could use a little motivational kick in the pants, haha
(I'm watching what I eat, but it's not like I'm living on just fruit or anything crazy—I've just cut out the fast food, soda, bread, and stuff like that)

Let’s add a little splash of color to this gloomy, rainy Monday!

I just picked up an amazing support top from H&M.
It made me realize that my forearm is still looking a bit like I've been doing too much Popstar... 🤦 😁

I'm about 5'8" tall

Back in the summer of 2011, I was weighing in at around 147 lbs

image

By December 2011, I hit 134 lbs

image

Fast forward to March 2012: I'm down to 123 lbs, but my thighs still feel so thick... no matter how hard I push myself, they just won't slim down! 🙂

image

By the way, life has been pretty overwhelming lately with a bunch of personal stuff, so I haven't been able to work out or stick to my usual diet. Because of that, I've gained back about 3 or 4 lbs... but honestly, I'm going to get this under control. I plan on training super hard over the next three months to finally try and tone up these legs. 🙂

Here are a few photos (if I dare 😁). These are from 2007. At that point, my workouts were minimal, but I was eating mostly healthy and had an active job that kept me on my feet constanty:

http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/...HPIM0018ED.jpg
http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/...M0127ed_cr.jpg

Since then, things changed. A series of surgeries led to long periods of inactivity, poor diet, and a sedentary desk job lasting over eight hours a day. This caused rapid weight gain, particularly in my lower body. By late 2010, I returned to the gym, increased my cycling intensity, and started running last summer. These photos aren't great—you can't really see muscle definition 😁, but I will post better ones when I have them:

http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/...6682_cr_cr.jpg
http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/...6681_cr_cr.jpg
http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/...5126677_cr.jpg
http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/...5126674_cr.jpg

The issue is uneven progress. My arms, shoulders, and back define quickly, yet my thighs and glutes remain stubbornly weak, despite some improvement. When I gain weight, it settles in my lower body; when I lose it, I thin out from the top down. Currently 5'4" and 110 lbs. Any training suggestions? Please. 🙂

The photos are pretty low quality—just webcam shots—but maybe that's for the best. At least you can see some progress starting to show...

April 19th. First fitness test and kicking off Insanity after spending a month doing Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30. (I didn't really change my diet during the Jillian Michaels phase—just eating junk, and my husband kept teasing me that I was just bulking up. But since starting Insanity, I've mostly cut out the chocolate and snacks)
imageimageimage

May 12th. Second fitness test—starting week three of Insanity.
imageimageimage

May 26th. Today marks the start of week five, which is Insanity - Recovery Week.
imageimageimageimage

If there are too many pictures, please go ahead and moderate them...

Here’s how my stomach looks after yesterday 😠 there's easily at least 9 or 10 pounds of fat sitting right on top of it and all around...

Nov 14, 2011: 147 lbs | Mar 03, 2012: 121 lbs | May 27, 2012: 135 lbs (just to be clear, this weight gain from March until now isn't muscle—it's just pure junk food bingeing..) 🙂 🤦

I've finally sorted out my diet, which is the most important part, plus I've started easing into the Insanity program. I say "easing into it" because, let's face it, I'm someone who can maybe squeeze out four push-ups before kissing the floor, but I’m going to be persistent, so hopefully that number starts climbing steadily. 🥳

Here’s me after a year 🙂—not great, honestly. I've been pretty slacking on my workouts lately because college has been kicking my butt 👎—but man, I can't wait to finally get back into my cycling routine 😍

I've been crushing Insanity for about a month now, mixing it in with some basketball and lifting weights...
This is just a shot from my first day; I like to post a picture after I finish everything so I can track how much progress I'm actually making... right now, I'm sitting at about 212 lbs.

This photo was taken exactly one year ago—I took it under the naive assumption that I would immediately jump into a consistent workout routine and so on... but I didn't. 🤣
I finally got serious and started on March 1st, and honestly, I’m proud of myself for actually sticking with it this time—hopefully, I won't quit again.

And here is a photo from today. I’m happy because at least some changes are becoming visible. During the first month, I was training quite hard—about 5 or 6 times a week. Now it’s maybe a bit less frequent, 3 or 4 times, but that’s fine; I plan to ramp up the intensity again. I’m hoping to see much more significant progress by next summer and perhaps pack on a little more muscle mass.

My arms and core have definitely strengthened a bit... though it doesn't show much from the front, so I won't bother posting photos of that. :P

By the way, what do you all recommend for toning and getting rid of that little bit of extra skin/fat right under the glutes? I'm not sure if it shows clearly here, but it really bugs me. Is strength training essential for that, or should I focus on cardio?

Edit: Actually, I'll post the front view after all, because I want to know how to broaden my upper body—specifically, is it possible to make everything look proportional? I am quite narrow on top. Should I just focus on working my arms, traps, chest, and back to balance things out?

Since I can't seem to go back and edit my previous post anymore... someone was asking about my hands, so here's a photo for you guys... just for context, I'm about 6'3" and weigh 207 lbs.

I honestly can’t wrap my head around this... Just three months ago, my waist was 25 inches and I weighed about 123 pounds. Now, I’ve climbed up to 136 pounds and my waist is sitting at 27 inches, yet when I look in the mirror, I swear I look exactly the same as I did back then. How is it possible to look identical while the measurements are actually increasing? Maybe I’m just imagining things and I really have changed... 🤷 but if you look back at the photos I posted on one or two pages prior, I don't see any noticeable difference at all when comparing them...

Here is a shot of me from this morning 🙂

Well... I figured I should jump in here too! 🤣

I've been working out pretty consistently for over a year and a half now... I started out with Jillian Michaels... then moved on to Shaun T. 😍 and Hip Hop Abs, followed by his Rockin' Body, but eventually, I just needed something more intense... so I decided to tackle Insanity... after finishing Insanity, I pushed through P90X... I did have a bit of a slump where I wasn't doing anything at all for about two months (the whole month of December and all of January)... but then I discovered Body Combat and I am absolutely loving it! 👍

I don't really follow any strict diet (not that I'm a total disaster, but I definitely have a weakness for junk food 😬)... anyway... I'm 5'1" and currently weigh 117 lbs... I'm not sure what else I should mention... 🤔

Well...

Do you guys think there's visible progress? And does my figure look fit enough to hold my own with the guys? 🤣

I figured I’d throw my progress in here too. After an involuntary health hiatus following year two, I’m finally getting back into recreational training, picking up right at month three...😁
