Hey everyone, this is my husband. He’s hit a bit of a plateau with his training lately, so he was wondering if anyone has tips on what he could tweak. He’s doing CrossFit three times a week and goes for a run once a week. He’s 37.
I’m not posting mine just yet—I think I need to get myself back in shape first. 🙂

To be honest, I’m torn. To post this or not to post this? I’m turning 50 in just two months, and my daily grind consists of sitting in a chair for eight hours straight 🤣—for those of you who aren't aware
.
I’ve let the beard grow out to get a bit of a Viking vibe, I enjoy a few beers on the weekends, and I generally stick to a 16:8 intermittent fasting routine
.
Perhaps this might serve as some small inspiration for some forty-year-old kid out there 😁

Gained about 9 lbs from being by the beach—currently sitting at 152 lbs, 5'6", and 37 years old
Honestly, I’m actually pretty happy with where I am right now. I haven't let myself get too soft or anything, so my plan is just to hover around this weight through the winter—you know, just keeping things steady. As long as I eat decent food and stay active, I'll be fine. I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things at the gym with my lifting and workouts, which has been a bit of a journey because I had surgery seven months ago. That meant I was totally out of commission for three weeks straight, and then for the first month after that, I could only really do light stuff—mostly just leg days and some basic cardio. But now? I'm finally getting back into real, solid training sessions! I'm feeling optimistic that I'll be in great shape by the time summer rolls around.🎉🎉

For those of you who haven't seen me in a minute—check out the progress from my old bikini body to how I'm looking this summer! ☀️🔥
Got a Coca-Cola in my right hand and some water in the left... gotta stay balanced, right? 🥤💧😂
Anyway, that's all I got for ya today! 😎✌️

I'm sitting at about 175 lbs right now—and just to give you an idea of where my lifts are at—I can hit roughly 420 lbs on the low bar squat and 530 lbs on deadlifts. My bench press is hovering around 275 lbs with a pause, though I guess that's a bit of a struggle for me since I've got pretty long arms and I'm running on a lighter frame.

I had a bit of trouble getting the images to actually show up here—technology, right?—so I figured I'd just drop the direct links instead.

So, my five-month hiatus is basically over.
I ended up gaining a solid 13 pounds (not that I’ve ever really had an issue with that 😁), and the gut fat is back too. Not surprising, considering I wasn't going a single day without having 4 or 5 beers, eating whatever was in front of me, and only managed about 8 weight sessions in the last two months.
On the bright side, I did walk the dog once or twice a day, every single day, for the whole five months.
Even so, here’s the comparison after exactly one year.

Now it’s time to get back on the grind—cleaner eating and daily workouts.
The goal is to hit 192-195 lbs again (just so I can feel comfortable being "big" at home again 😁).
Height is still sitting right around 6'3".

I’ve definitely put on a little extra weight around the midsection since the last time I posted. But honestly, what can you really do? It’s summer, there's the beach, endless trips to the coast, cold beers, and far too much pizza... it was bound to happen.😁

Spring 2020 hit, COVID-19 arrived, schools shut down, and there I was—just a math teacher trying to make sense of it all. Suddenly, everything moved online. I found myself pulling these endless late nights, staying up until 3 or 4 in the morning, and of course, being starving at that hour. So, what do I do? I just graze on whatever junk is in the pantry—total nutritional chaos. There was zero exercise, plenty of food, and the weight started piling on fast.
By early July 2020, I was sitting at 227 lbs, with body fat somewhere around 26-27%. I was heavy. 😬 Finally, I hit my breaking point and made a call—it was time to start training, fix my diet, and actually get some fresh air whenever possible. I started out training two or three times a week, then gradually ramped it up to five days a week.
Where I am now: 200 lbs at 14% body fat. I actually dipped down to 192 lbs before, but my body fat was higher back then, around 18-19%. For the last few months, I've been focused on body recomposition—basically trying to melt away the fat while building muscle at the same time.
As for the next move... honestly, I haven't decided. Maybe I'll try to shave off another twenty pounds, making sure I don't lose the muscle I've worked for, and then focus on bulking back up. But I’m not rushing anything; you eventually learn that your body dictates the pace, not you.

Let's get it moving
One day in Milwaukee after getting back into the gym 6'4"/203lbs
My wife lost her mind when she saw me at 192 lbs last time, so now I'm strictly forbidden from dropping below this weight.

Milwaukee day after hitting the gym again 6'4"/203lbs
My wife absolutely lost her mind when she last saw me at 190 lbs, so now I’m strictly forbidden from dropping below this weight.
mellowraven8, why are you even stressing about the scale? Just lift the heavy stuff and call it a day..
Look at me, sitting here at 265+ lbs and 6'3", I couldn't care less about the numbers on the scale anymore. As long as I don't have a double chin, I'm golden—men are intimidated by me, and honestly, women don't seem to mind, if anything...sending love from my bed🤣
