I wouldn't go overboard with the Whey protein. It’s not like I’m strapped for cash, but I'm still trying to drop a few extra pounds before summer hits. 😁
So, I was thinking maybe just two scoops for my post-workout...

Is it the same deal with glucose and raisins? Or do I need to find those specifically somewhere? My plan was to just toss everything into a shaker and drink it; I really don't feel like snacking on pastries or munching on raisins on the side. 😉

You can grab some glucose (yeah, grape sugar) over at DM. The ratio you’re looking for is 2:1 in favor of the glucose. So, basically, mix two scoops of glucose with one scoop of whey—which usually packs about 30g of protein. That should be plenty for your post-workout. Just mix it all with water.

And what if I’m throwing in two scoops of protein? 😛

No way! Your liver is going to take a massive hit and just turn into dust right before your eyes. Pure whey powder! 😁

Glucose is almost twice as heavy as whey, so just doing one scoop of whey and one scoop of glucose gives you that 2:1 ratio... 😬 👍

Hey, easy there! Don't go scaring me like that! 😁

Honestly, I’m hitting up about four scoops a day on my training days. 😁

Greetings, everyone.

I’ve been spending some time browsing through this forum, but honestly, I’m feeling even more confused now than I was before I started reading.😁
To give you some context, I’m about 5'9" and weigh roughly 147 lbs. No matter what I try to do with my regular diet, I just can't seem to put on any weight. I’m planning on joining a local gym very soon, though up until now, I’ve mostly just played pickup soccer a few times a week.
My goal is to pack on some muscle mass. I’m considering picking up some protein supplements or something similar, but I’m at a loss as to what actually makes sense to buy. I see all this talk about whey, but then I read about certain types being specifically for weight loss, which isn't what I need.
So, if anyone would be kind enough to give me a solid recommendation—whether it's this or that—please do. If you could drop a link, I would truly appreciate it.🙂

I’ve got a bit of a question regarding amino acids. So, I recently picked up some Biotechov Amino st5300. Lately, I’ve been browsing through some American fitness forums, and honestly, the people there seem absolutely thrilled with it—they're actually suggesting you should take way more than the serving size listed on the label. But then, I stumble onto these other message boards where the advice is... well, a bit more extreme. They're joking that you might as well just flush the pills down the toilet to keep your heart from racing too much after taking them.

Now, look, I tend to trust what our guys back home say, but at the same time... you can never have too many opinions, right? Are these tablets actually any good?

In my view, brands like Optimum Nutrition or Dymatize might actually be superior choices... plus, I've noticed some Twinlab whey products contain soy ingredients, so...

That was my impression. 😕

On that note, what would you suggest instead? And where could I actually pick up that whey, and what kind of budget should I set aside... I only know there's an online shop over at Importanne. 😁

I’ve been browsing this forum for a bit, but honestly, I'm more confused now than when I started. 😁
Basically, I'm 5'9" and 147 lbs. I can't gain weight to save my life eating normally. I'm about to start hitting the gym—I've mostly just played soccer a few times a week until now.
I want to put on some mass, so I was thinking about getting some protein or whatever, but I have no clue what's actually smart to buy. I read about whey, but then I see some stuff meant for weight loss...
Is there anyone kind enough to just tell me "this one" or "that one"? Drop a link and I'll be grateful.🙂

Look, I'll just stick to what works for me. I'm 6'1", weighed myself the other day, and I'm about 176 lbs. I'm pretty skinny, so I went for a mass gainer. Everyone trashes them because they have too much sugar and you'll end up with a little extra fat, but I'm planning to fix that later. Right now, size matters more than being ripped. If you want the fast way to bulk up, grab a gainer. If you want the quality way, get some whey. Honestly, whey is whey. Just make sure the price is decent, it doesn't have soy, and if you can find a review saying it mixes well and tastes okay, you're set.
...my suggestion for whey is...

I've used it before. Taste is solid—I had the banana. I heard the cookies flavor is better. It mixes well and even has BCAA and glutamine added. Plus, the price is good. I'll probably grab it again down the road.

I'm inclined to believe the folks back home, but still... you can never have too much advice. Are these tablets actually any good?

You probably saw that on some fitness blog. The thing is, those sites are often run by companies like Nutrabolics who trash every competitor just to hype their own stuff. For instance, they claim Dymatize is one of the worst products out there, which is total nonsense. As for Biotech, from what I hear, they aren't the best either. But hey, if you already bought them, don't sweat it. An amino is an amino. If the formula is the same as other brands, just take them and move on.

Joshua Parker3 Kazes:
That’s what I thought. 😕

So, what would you actually recommend then? Where can I pick up that whey, and what's the damage going to be? I know Importanne has some kind of shop online. 😁

Like I mentioned above, here’s the link again.
Check out this link to some whey protein on a fitness site:
So, we're looking at the flavor, how easy it is on the stomach, and the fact that they tossed in some BCAA and glutamine... plus, it isn't exactly breaking the bank compared to everything else out there.

I’ve been sticking with Scitech Whey protein... and honestly, they're alright enough.

I also picked up some vitamin supplements along with it (they're massive, lol, I can barely swallow them), and I am seeing progress.

But I want more. Better. Stronger. So now I'm thinking about stacking something else on top of it.

I’ve heard people using creatine and all sorts of other stuff... I don't know if that's actually healthy though... hmmm??

Creatine isn't harmful—it helps performance, provided you're already at an advanced level. I haven't tried it myself, but word is it doesn't do much for beginners.

Have you considered changing your training routine? That usually makes a bigger difference in progress. What’s your current split, and how long have you been at it?

If you take those heavy adjectives and simply add "nutrition" to them—specifically focusing on high-quality proteins—you will find exactly what is missing to fuel your progress...

I messed up a bit today... didn't hit my whey and glucose right after training. Waited maybe an hour or an hour and a half instead. Is that actually a huge deal?
