Don't start with me! 😁 That’s why I said the concept kind of swallowed the music. I just don't vibe with the songs on that album—well, except for "Where Is the Line," which is incredible. But I still have a soft spot for the record, mostly just because Patton is on it. 😍

Like I think I read somewhere else in this thread, Madonna isn't really for everyone... so I feel totally justified in saying she’s strictly for the sophisticated crowd.😁 .

Someone was bringing up self-control—or rather, the lack thereof—when talking about the personality of this incredible musician... but I just don't get it. Why would you need self-control when expressing emotions?
That’s actually exactly what most musicians are missing today... that raw, unfiltered release of emotion...
She uses her entire being—her body and her spirit—not just her vocal cords.

unknown...in that masterpiece, her voice becomes almost secondary....it takes on the role of the music itself and becomes an accompaniment... instead of the lead...
Have you guys actually listened closely enough to realize that your ears are following the living instruments first, and then placing her within that context...!?!

Basically, Madonna is a visionary (kind of like Jim Morrison),
it's just that mass-marketed music is so low quality that it’s had an unhealthy impact on people's common sense.

The thing is, she often lets the technical concept overpower the feeling—and that's where having some self-control might actually help.

I don't really get what you mean by "dismissing" things like that...

I mean, come on—give me some actual arguments for why this concept is supposed to transcend raw emotion, so I actually have something substantial to chew on while I rethink my stance...

Because, honestly, her music feels like one endless, flowing river of pure emotion...
