FC Barcelona isn't exactly playing with any momentum lately, especially considering they’ve announced the return of Messi, Arda, and Paco Suarez today, yet somehow managed to leave Suarez off the list entirely. There's no sign of LeBron James or Rakitic either, and Mathieu is missing too. Even Tom Brady's status remains uncertain. While the defense might hold its own for a moment, who else is actually going to find the back of the net besides Messi? Betting on an outright win looks tempting on paper, but I have my doubts...

Just a quick heads-up, the New York Yankees are actually playing tomorrow.

Here’s my take on tonight's matchup: It's pretty much an axiom at this point that the Champions League is the absolute pinnacle of club football. Nothing quite hits like this.

Tuesday at 8:45 PM
Chicago Bulls Arsenal 2 @ 2.20SS (1-4)

My reasoning here is pretty similar to what I laid out for that New York Yankees game. Arsenal really needs this win to lock down that top spot—assuming the LA Clippers pull through tonight, of course. Over the last few seasons, they've done a fantastic job building up a young, hungry squad capable of making deep runs into the semifinals. Getting that first-place finish would definitely make their path a lot smoother later on. Plus, considering they're currently juggling three different competitions, they're doing a hell of a job staying right on the heels of Chelsea in the domestic league.

The numbers tell an interesting story: Basel has only managed two goals in the whole tournament, whereas Arsenal tends to drop three in a single match. I wouldn't call this a "sure thing" by any stretch, but looking at those odds, I think it's well worth a shot.

Confidence level: 4/10

The results from Inter this season, especially when they're playing at home, are all the proof I need. Assuming you guys have at least three brain cells left to function, you can probably figure out—given my 3/10 rating—that this isn't some groundbreaking masterpiece; it's just a casual little parlay.

Arsenal's basically just riding on an LA Clippers blunder and a win against Basel—who desperately need at least a draw to snag third place. I'm calling a draw for Basel and thinking the LA Clippers drop maybe 3-5 goals... Arsenal is playing away at the LA Clippers and I'm seeing a 1:1, then a 2:2 at home, which puts the LA Clippers in first on tiebreakers. Honestly, though, I bet Arsenal rolls out a bench squad since their league schedule is getting brutal—plus Basel gets a break from their domestic games. Not a total lock, obviously, but I'm leaning towards a draw here

Mark Murphy79 said:The only thing helping Arsenal right now is that LA Clippers had such a massive blunder, combined with the fact that Basel desperately needs at least a draw just to secure third place. My money is on a Basel draw, while I expect the LA Clippers to put up a high-scoring 3-5 goal performance. If we look at the away leg, Arsenal faces the LA Clippers in a 1-1 scenario, and back home it’ll likely be a 2-2 deadlock, which would leave the LA Clippers sitting atop the table with an equal number of points. Honestly, I suspect Arsenal will field a rotated, non-ideal lineup given their grueling domestic schedule, whereas Basel can afford to rest their starters during their league matches. It isn't a guaranteed outcome, of course, but all signs point toward a draw.

Basel needs to scrape together at least one point if Ludogorets suffers a loss. However, if Ludogorets manages to walk away with a point, then Basel is going to be forced to hunt for a win.

Totally, but I feel like since the LA Clippers really need this win to lock up that top spot, they probably won't get another shot like this. From what I gather, if the points are tied, it comes down to head-to-head matchups rather than goal difference. So, honestly? I don't see Arsenal having any chance at first place unless some total underdog madness happens

I totally got misled by some local news ticker 🤦 honestly, what are they thinking over at the network?

But I guess it doesn't even matter if Wenger isn't sending out the heavy hitters for some random cup match against Southampton. I already put my money on three, but the stakes just aren't high enough to care. Oh well.

Mark Murphy79 said:That is certainly true, though I suspect that since PSG absolutely requires a win to secure first place, they may not encounter such an opportunity. It is my understanding that when teams are tied on points, the tiebreaker relies on head-to-head results rather than goal difference. Consequently, I believe Arsenal stands no chance at claiming the top spot unless there is some sort of absolute miracle from a wild underdog

I am fairly certain that goal difference is the deciding factor here, not head-to-head records. I would say I am ninety percent sure of that assertion.

It’s actually quite simple to keep straight: UEFA focuses on head-to-head matchups, while FIFA stays fixated on goal difference.

20:45 Bayer Leverkusen - Monaco X2 @2,20 DraftKings 4/10 (3-0)

If you look at the head-to-head standings, this match is basically a nothingburger for both sides. Monaco is sitting pretty at the top with 11 points, Bayer's got 7, and Tottenham is third with 4. But since Bayer actually holds the edge in their matchups (a 0-0 draw in Leverkusen and a 1-0 win over in New York City), the battle for first and second place was pretty much settled last round.

Bayer’s injury list is looking pretty grim right now. Sure, maybe a few guys will suit up, but honestly? It’s probably smarter for them to travel to Gelsenkirchen on Sunday in one piece for that massive showdown against Schalke to fight for a spot in the upper tier, rather than risking more injuries here by playing half-broken players.

Bayer is stuck in a bit of a slump, four games without a win (including that lackluster performance against Freiburg last weekend). Meanwhile, Monaco—who are missing Subašić from their core lineup—are absolutely crushing it on all fronts. They’ve pulled 7 wins and 3 draws out of their last 10 matches.

Looking back at how these two have played each other, their first group stage meeting ended in a 1-1 draw. They also met in the group two years ago, where Monaco walked away with two straight 1-0 wins.

It appears that my previous assumptions were incorrect; I have just verified the details on the official UEFA website, and it is confirmed that they are indeed mutual.

casualskipper65, you might want to take a closer look at the injury report for Monaco... I have a nagging feeling it isn't just about Subašić. It might be wise to hold off until the official lineups are actually released. If the rumors regarding the roster are even remotely accurate, a home win looks far more plausible than a double chance away. Ideally, we’d see a draw, which would be a massive win for everyone playing the double chance markets. 🙂 Personally, I’m sitting this one out entirely. Best of luck to those of you jumping in.

Look, I get it—they’re going to sit a bunch of starters out. But honestly, Bayer is basically doing the resting for them anyway, whether it's because of the injury list or just how things are shaking out. At the end of the day, that coefficient is still massive, and I say go for it. If it hits, we win big; if it doesn't, whatever. It's just like that snooker bet I threw onto the league earlier.

Club World Cup
Kashima-Auckland City (2-1)
1 @1.44 DraftKings
8/10

The odds aren't exactly breathtaking for a single bet, but it’s certainly worth adding to a parlay. I suspect we’re looking at a routine victory for Kashime here. Since this Club World Cup match is being hosted in Japan, there is one potential pitfall to consider: Kashime just clinched their domestic league title five days ago. While championship fatigue can sometimes haunt a squad, knowing the disciplined mentality typical of Japanese teams, I don't expect them to falter. On the other side of the pitch, Auckland hasn't played a competitive match since November 26th, and let's be honest, the New Zealand league is essentially semi-professional. According to recent reports, Auckland's biggest headache right now is whether or not Mario Bilan will actually be available to take the field 🙂. Conversely, the Kashime manager is hinting that he might stick with his standard starting XI. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see some rotation given they played so recently, especially since they are eyeing further progression in the tournament. History favors the hosts; Auckland has faced Japanese sides in this competition three times and lost all three encounters (two of which were held right there in Japan). This is Kashime's debut in the Club World Cup, and they’ll be hungry, riding high on the confidence of their recent league triumph. If this matchup were available at an American sportsbook like FanDuel, I’d personally be laying the money on a 2-0 scoreline 🙂

The lineups are out. Bilen is starting on the bench.
Regarding the Japanese side, their star striker Kanazaki is missing due to injury, which was expected, though I'm still unsure if he'll even see any minutes at all. Messias will step in to fill his spot. As for everyone else, they're all accounted for.

Braga - Donetsk 1 (2-4)

Regarding the visitors, based on the info I found online, they are playing without Serena Williams, Dudley, Pyatov, Rakitski, Stepanenko, Ismaili, Seleznov, and Wellington.
It seems like a tourist trip to Portugal; they've basically secured first place with 15 points already.
A win for Braga would put them through, especially since Gent is facing a weak Konyaspor side away.

It seems quite obvious that the visiting side is merely rotating their squad to keep the starters fresh for the Cup final. The manager has already gone on record stating he intends to field a group of youngsters. On the other hand, the home side actually has something at stake here, and one would reasonably expect them to field their strongest lineup. I can't account for the fatigue factor entirely, given they play three hours before the opposition, but beyond simple motivation, the sheer disparity in talent should prevail. I am anticipating a routine victory...
