If you ask me, it's 1) Gaye Advert, 2) the girl from Slant 6, 3) Cait O'Riordan.

plus Dirtbombs - Mystery train

Man, too bad you missed Thermals 🙂 your list would look a lot different 🙂

But honestly, she’s just wild.

Gotta learn.

Don't go making a mistake you'll regret! Photos don't capture... well... the sheer emotional intensity of watching Thermals live. For me, thanks to picking a killer spot, it wasn't even just about hearing Mike Watt... I spent most of the set just watching how the Thermals bassist stares at the stage... 😁

Anyway, I finally cleared some space on my playlist to see if I actually dig enough Dirtbombs to justify driving all the way out to the venue. Gonna go blast them now.

She needs to learn.

You’ve got permanent retinal damage from staring at that sidekick of hers constantly flashing a camera. And she isn't a "woman," she's just a kid. There... 🙂

This year is definitely when REM hits their peak. I doubt they'll top it...

This isn't a thread to debate whether REM, Miroslav, Omar Portuondo, or Forlorn Legacy took the top spot this year.

This is a thread where it is ULTIMATELY decided that the title belongs to Dirtbombs. Any other comments are redundant, if not entirely useless. Unless, of course, you're here to nitpick the female band members who played at the Keyset.

Thanks for listening.

That's all. 🙂

PS: REM wasn't even close.

I haven't gone watching Dirtbombs in maybe a year, if not a bit longer. The fallout from that experience was pretty simple: I decided I'm done attending shows like that altogether.

Hardly. I’m just a teeny-bopper at heart.
Honestly, they’re one of those bands you feel obligated to listen to just to maintain some sense of cultural relevance or street cred. But then you actually sit down to listen, and you find yourself wondering—is this really how I want to spend my time? And just like that, it's over.
Go check out James Chance first before you start casting votes (if we’re even going to treat these museum pieces as serious contenders).

It feels pretty great knowing I finally cleared last year's live Dirtbombs bootleg off my Hard Drive yesterday. They aren't exactly my favorite, and I wasn't planning on catching them live anyway. 🙂I suppose I might give them a listen now, just to get a general sense of what they're all about...

Hey man, speaking of Chance, have you heard any recent news? 🙂

It’s such a striking sentiment on that poster:

I mean, they’re just one of those bands you feel like you *have* to listen to just to maintain some sense of cultural relevance or street cred, I guess.

Wait, what even defines a teeny-bopper? Just when I thought I had every possible subculture mapped out...🤔 😕

Is this some kind of trendy new urban subculture? 😁

This isn't some debate about whether Remi, Miroslav, Omar Portuondo, or Forlorn Legacy had the best year.

This is the thread where we declare—once and for all—that Dirtbombs are taking the crown. Anything else you say is just noise, honestly, totally unnecessary.

😂

Seriously though, quit hyping up Dirtbombs this hard. If you keep it up, a million random people are gonna show up, it'll be way too crowded, and things are gonna get way too intense for my liking.

I suppose you’ve suffered permanent retinal damage from that sidekick of yours who won't stop blinding everyone with their flash. And just to clarify, it isn't even a woman—it's a sweetheart. There you go. 🙂

Well, Sancho Panza over here spent six months fully convinced that the flash on that camera was simply incapable of turning off... until I had this sudden, brilliant epiphany yesterday that it actually could, and I managed to stumble upon some little button with a lightning bolt drawn on it. So, perhaps we might finally see some photos where people aren't squinting so intensely... maybe...

Man, that's just one of those bands you feel like you *have* to check out just to maintain some sense of cultural relevance or street cred. Then you actually listen to them and you're just sitting there thinking—is this really how I want to spend my Friday night? And just like that, you're done.
Go listen to James Chance before you start casting votes (if we're judging people based on museum pieces).

Oh, please,🙂 , that whole "professor lecturing an Introduction to Baudrillard class at the University of Glasgow" vibe 😁 isn't doing you any favors.
Forget James Chance, that's total nonsense. This Friday, the devil himself is playing the concert of the century. 😁
