Is there any way to enable multiplayer on a Celeron D 2.8 running on a 330d, and if so, how do I go about it?

Quick question here. I feel like this might have been asked before, but honestly, I don't have the energy to scroll through everything.
I’m running an Intel Pentium 4 Prescott 2.4 GHz and managed to bump it up to 2.67 GHz by tweaking the voltage a bit (not sure exactly how much). The issue is, whenever I'm mid-game—say, playing UT04—the whole system just reboots on its own after a while. I tried dialing it back to 2.5 GHz and even lowered the voltage, but the same thing keeps happening. I read online that my CPU is supposedly perfect for overclocking, so I'm stumped. Is it a heat issue? It doesn't seem likely since temps weren't crossing 60°C.
My motherboard is an ASUS P4S800 with the SiS 648FX and SiS 963L chipsets.

The 2.4 Northwood is a beast for overclocking—I actually hit 3.6 GHz just using air cooling. Prescott? Not so much.

Your system is probably crashing because your RAM (DDR400) is too slow and you haven't pushed it hard enough yet.

Plus, that chipset of yours is absolute garbage.😁

Interesting title for a thread aimed at overclockers... "show off what you can do." I wanted to offer a different kind of shout-out to some people here... specifically regarding post counts. We have folks sitting on 21,500 posts... or maybe 16,000-something else.
Is this just an extreme obsession with hardware (assuming most of these are tech posts)? Or is it a passion for writing (or just talking too much)? 😁Maybe they sleep with the forum open. 🙂
Anyone know who actually holds the top 5 or 10 spots for total posts right now?
Cheers!

It might be dated, but this one actually looks promising (Smartbox 500 w ATX2).🙂

Is anyone interested in selling or trading a 😕
Pentium 4 2.0GHz>2.5GHz socket (478) for a Celeron D 2.8GHz socket (478)
?

Someone mentioned this in the chat, but here is the full list for you guys

A 160 GB HDD plus an external 250 GB drive
A 19" Samsung high-res LCD monitor
Two NEC burners
An ATI Radeon 9600 256 MB
And an AMD Athlon 64 2.4—which, I guess, counts as double

A laptop
With a 3.06 processor, an 80 GB HDD, and a DVD burner

The server setup:
A 750 GB HDD
Powered by an Intel Pentium 3.4
Plus two video editing workstations similar to the first one—I suppose
Along with a GIGABIT network

So, yeah, that's pretty much it—it might not be anything special, but it works for me, I guess👍

It might be crashing because your RAM—probably that DDR400—isn't being tuned properly, so maybe that's the issue.

Plus, that chipset is pretty much junk😁

This is a bit off-topic, I suppose, but I was wondering how long you've been a member
on the forum and how much time you spend here each day? 😕

So, what do we think about this DDR400 memory? It’s running totally steady up to DDR486, but once I hit anything higher than that, it just falls apart... 🙄 Is that actually a decent clock speed for this setup??

So, what kind of timings are you running at that clock speed?

Man, you’re way off. You’d actually be better off trying to trim those down as much as possible first, then bumping up the clock speed later. That is, provided your motherboard isn't running in sync mode.
Just fire up two instances of Prime95 and let the stress test run overnight. Simple as that.
Look, I managed to push mine to 400, but my timings are sitting at 2-3-2-6 (SuperTalent). Trying to run 2-2-2-5 just isn't happening, so forget about it.

Yeah, if you're running an Intel chip, this whole thing just falls apart. Those things crave a higher FSB.

It all comes down to the RAM... mine won't even touch 266😬 but I absolutely need 450😬

totally, like if you've got an Intel Pentium 4 and some random V-data, maybe an old MB P4C800 setup..

If you're working with V-data, pushing it up to 486 is actually a solid move. If you're looking to squeeze out a bit more FSB, maybe try setting the CL to 3.0 and see if it can handle the extra juice. Just make sure to run some Super Pi tests—hit it with the 1M standard test for performance and the 32M version to check for stability. That'll help you nail down the sweet spot between your FSB and latency...
