That’s exactly what I was getting at, much like this list https://www.rollingstone.com/music/m...rtists-147446/. If you look at it, the top 30 or 40 artists and bands almost always show up on similar rankings. It basically boils down to personal preference—one person might pick an album by The Beatles, another might go with The Rolling Stones, and someone else will choose Bob Dylan...

Quote : Crow89, can I ask you something? Why do you insist on center-aligning all the paragraphs in your intros? I mean, sure, it looks fine for photos or specific bits of text—like quotes, lyrics, tracklists, or special content. But when it comes to the actual main body of the text, it’s just clunky and honestly pretty annoying to read. I’d probably fix it myself if it wasn't such a mess...

Regarding the hundredth album, there was already an internal agreement among the group about a month ago after our colleague inconnu pitched the idea. The plan was to handle the hundredth album via anonymous suggestions and anonymous voting. We wouldn't even reveal who made the suggestion until the winner's thread is actually opened. Or maybe we shouldn't even do that? Either Puky or I could post the intro for the winning album so nobody even knows who suggested it. Maybe keeping one album a little mysterious until the end would be cool? 🙂

So, easy now... 🙂 don't go blabbing too much about what you're planning to suggest... and honestly, limiting things to those "all-time greatest authors" lists feels kind of lame to me in this context. (Greatest albums according to whom? And whose selection even matters here? Why follow Rolling Stone? What about all those albums that had a massive influence but never really got the credit they deserve?) But whatever, everyone else weigh in on that idea...

Feel free to edit 👍

Still learning the ropes here; not sure why it turned out like this
Lisa Davis46 said:So, take it easy... 🙂 don't go overboard with your suggestions... personally, limiting things to "all-time best author" lists feels a bit pointless to me. (Top albums based on whose criteria? Whose selection actually matters? Why rely on Rolling Stone? What about those influential albums that never quite got the recognition they deserved?) But hey, let's hear what everyone else thinks about the idea...

I think that kind of limitation is actually helpful because there are just so many options out there. Whether it's Rolling Stone or someone else doesn't matter—that was just an example. I mean focusing on what is widely accepted as the best. For instance, I'm not really a fan of any Oasis albums, but I'm fully aware they were massive hits with both critics and the public. Someone might not be into The Rolling Stones, but I'm certain they know how much impact they had.

If anyone is struggling with how to verify that, I think we've all been listening to music and reading enough about it to know the obvious stuff by now. I'm a big fan of the anonymity aspect here. 🙂

Honestly, I’m with you. I’d much rather deal with some anonymous underground stuff than have to sit through those "elite" concept albums everyone keeps obsessing over...

It’s basically a free-for-all festival of democracy here, so let them stay anonymous if they want.👍

Honestly, I’m totally fine with staying anonymous

Personally, I’m leaning towards the popular albums. I think it would be way more interesting to see a winner chosen from the top artists.

Or even better, why not just combine the two? We could have the best albums selected through anonymous submissions.

Some people have already sent over their suggestions today, so we might as well get things moving this Wednesday...

Before I drop the rules for the week, I’ve got a quick question:

Hey, where you at? When is the Metallica thread finally happening?
I just want us to start the next album of the week with a clean slate after this messy election week. 🍿

Here comes the announcement for the new week / Album of the Week #100:

Limiting this strictly to 'popular albums' won't get us anywhere, but hey, feel free to suggest those if you want! There aren't really any hard restrictions, and anyone who has participated before, is participating now, or joins later can suggest one album. It would be pretty cool if you suggested something totally out of left field—something nobody would associate with your usual taste—just to keep things interesting for us. 🙂

Send your new album suggestions to us moderators via private message with the subject line Suggestion #100 and please don't leak what it is until we finally pick the winner for #100 together.

We'll post all the incoming suggestions in a single thread by the end of the day on Thursday, and the poll will follow as usual on Friday. To be clear, everyone suggesting and voting in this round stays anonymous for now.

No cloning suggestions, no begging other users to vote for your pick, and absolutely no revealing who picked which album. You can guess who chose what if you want, that's fine, but any actual manipulation of the poll will be sanctioned just like before.

We’re going to bundle all the incoming suggestions into a single post by the end of the day this Thursday, and then we'll run the poll as usual on Friday. ''

So, I guess there won't be enough time to actually sit down and listen to the album 😁 we'll just be voting from memory like we always do

There’s a decent amount of variety this time around. Honestly, I don't think it's going to be that easy for me either. 😁

So, Goran Bare. 🙏 I’ve lost count of how many times I've listened to him.

Anyone else got suggestions? You guys have until the end of the day...

Did anyone actually think it was a good idea to drop this My Bloody Valentine track in some 8 kbps mess? It’s basically unlistenable, even for someone like me who actually enjoys noise 😁

To be fair, I struggle to get through MBV even on their standard studio releases 😁

Where on earth did this Bon Jovi guy come from all of a sudden?

I finally figured out why Bon Jovi ended up there—it’s just alphabetical order, isn't it?
quietbison86 said:one really screams it out, while the other one is a bit more subtle😁

You're all looking in the wrong direction, ladies... my pick is R.E.M., simply because their track hit number one on the very day I was born. A little way to pay them back, I suppose...

Exactly what was said above.

I’ve been spinning this Tool album lately, though maybe not enough times yet to have the whole thing burned into my brain... To be honest, I’ve started finding them a bit repetitive because it feels like every single track follows the exact same formula, but this one might actually be the exception to the rule since the songs seem to carry a really great energy...

That’s just how it goes with every single Tool album. Well, okay, almost every one...
