stormybadger8 said:Who didn't complain?🤣
Gilbert was complaining, loud and clear, the whole time. He almost quit the Super League entirely because of it.
If I remember right, Paški & Ferk🤣 were also throwing fits way back in the season before last.😁
Rosie was complaining too, if memory serves, along with a few other guys.

Bottom line: I don't recall anyone actually wanting the team champions moved down the list, aside from your own teammates.😛

Anyway, here's the first person who absolutely doesn't need this, and I have zero intention of playing the Super League based on some teammate's merits.😁

Sorry TBF, but I haven't had anything to do with the Super League until this year/season, so let's not spread misinformation. Since I wasn't involved, I didn't really care about the Super League stuff, except for when I'd read about you guys arguing and hopped in to comment on something totally random. 🤷

Edward Howard2 said:Yeah... you went ahead and put that list together exactly how Gilbert wanted it, only for him to decide he wasn't even interested in playing in the end. 🤣🤣
I don't recall seeing Paški & Ferk Buniti just the other day... send me a link... anyone else?
Look, there’s another red flag you might want to consider regarding things going sideways in the ESPN F1 Super League 2012. If you look at the last two years, they kicked off the season with the top eight heavy hitters on the grid. But this season? Not a single one of the top eight is even in the mix, and now the first reserve is refusing to step up. It’s getting messy. Honestly, if this keeps up, next year is probably going to be an absolute train wreck. But hey, feel free to keep digging your heels in and insisting you're right. 😉

What do you mean, Max?🤣
Are you sure that absolutely none of the top 8 players are playing in the Super League this season?🤣

Honestly, I can't be bothered digging up ancient posts, but if my memory serves, there was some debate about it.🤷
I have no clue which specific thread, though. It might have been more of a joke than anything serious, or just some random argument that drifted off into nothing.

Besides, if someone hates the rules and that list, they were perfectly free to vote against them.🤷

New rules plus an updated list, OR old rules and the old list with rule changes.☕
I didn't see anyone voting like that, except for one guy who was Buniti because I even put the team champions on the list.

So why should I change the list to suit your preferences when seven people voted that the team champions shouldn't be in the top 8?🤷
If the majority agrees, that's how it is. Period.🤷

So, what’s the deal—is Max not playing in the ESPN F1 Super League 2012 or something? 🤷 Like, why hasn't he even responded to the offer yet? 😕

Look, as the director of this competition, I think we seriously need to update this specific rule:

stormybadger8 said:1. The Reddit F1 Super League is an invite-only competition featuring the top eight performers from last season's various forum racing series. If someone can't make the cut, the next person in line based on last year's standings steps in as a reserve. Next year's qualifying spots are detailed in rulebook section 15. Official results and rankings are posted by the league director in this thread, and the moderator will pin them to the first page for easy access while everyone else posts their picks and plays the Super League here.

2. We run this thing by having competitors face off head-to-head in triple round-robin duels, following a predetermined schedule drawn at random. During the first and second rounds of the Super League, everyone sets their own offers. In the third round, things get more organized—offers are set based on merit according to the standings at the end of round two, meaning the leaders get an easier path through the final stretch.

3. Here’s how the system works:
The person setting the offer has until midnight on Tuesday of the race week to submit five pairs of matchups. There are no restrictions on which pairs you pick, but you don't actually pick the drivers. Instead, your opponent does that by bolding their five favorites—basically marking them with a 1 or a 2 to indicate who they think will finish higher in the pair. This has to be done no later than 10 minutes before Saturday's qualifying starts. Any drivers they don't mark automatically become the favorites for the person receiving the offer.

4. Once the race is over, players earn these bonus points:
Winning a duel where no drivers DNF – 3 points
Winning a duel where the loser DNFs – 2 points
Winning a duel where the loser fails to start – 1 point
A draw where both drivers DNF or fail to start – 1 point each

5. After totaling those bonus points for each pairing, we hand out the main points:
Winning against an opponent's offer - 3 points
Winning your own offer - 2 points
A draw – 1 point each

6. To figure out the final League standings, we use these tiebreakers:
a) Whoever has more main points wins.
b) If tied there, the person with the better bonus point differential wins.
c) Still tied? The person with more main points from their head-to-head matchups wins.
d) If it's still a wash, look at the bonus point differential from those head-to-head matches.
e) If we're still stuck, the person with the most total wins takes it.
f) Tied again? More individual pair wins breaks the tie.
g) Last resort: whoever has more total bonus points wins.

7. You can actually send your offer as soon as the previous race wraps up. The official deadline is Tuesday at midnight before the race week, but honestly, we aren't strict about it—if you post at 12:01 AM on Wednesday, it still counts. However, if you miss the deadline entirely, your last submitted offer from the League stays active, and your opponent gets to respond to that. If they don't respond to the old one and a new one pops up in the meantime, they have to answer the new one. If someone misses the window in the first two rounds when there isn't an old offer yet, or if they're so late their opponent can't respond, the opponent gets the max payout: 3 main points and 15 bonus points. Also, if the responder is logged in or posting on Reddit between the late offer and qualifying but ignores it, the offer-setter gets the max points—provided the offer was posted at least an hour before the response deadline.

8. If a competitor fails to submit a new entry or response for three consecutive races, they’ll be automatically disqualified from the rest of the competition, provided there's a reserve competitor available to step into the super league. If a reserve steps in, they take over the remaining schedule left by the disqualified person, but they don't get to inherit any of those points.

9. If someone misses the deadline for a response or just doesn't reply to an offer, their opponent gets the maximum haul: 2 main points and 15 secondary points.
If a participant sends a fake response during the third round—or any other way that looks like they're clearly trying to rig things for someone else—both they and the beneficiary will face penalties. These will be decided by the tournament directors and the Reddit F1 moderators through a majority vote.

10. Once an entry or response is sent, it’s final. No deleting, no editing, no "oops, let me fix that." Breaking this rule means handing your opponent the maximum points. If you submit an incomplete entry with fewer than five pairs, you can add to it until your opponent responds; if you don't, your opponent gets the max secondary points for the missing slots. If you send more than five pairs, we only care about the first five—no corrections allowed after that.

11. Competitors can agree to swap home status for any reason during the first round. If they do, the order swaps automatically in the second round so everyone gets a turn hosting. After the second round, the home/away setup is locked in. Also, you can't mess with the pairing schedule once the tournament starts.

12. You have to post your predictions using the exact username you registered with. The only exception is if an admin changes it. If you're a banned user, you can still play by submitting your entry via your banned account; a moderator will then manually move it to the thread. If you don't follow this process, you're out.

13. Race results are based on what the FIA announces immediately after the race on TV or the first unofficial uncorrected results on the official website. We aren't looking at any later corrections from the FIA. When determining DNFs, we go by those initial FIA announcements specifying who dropped out. Per FIA rules, a driver is considered to have retired if they complete less than 90% of the race distance, and the race length is whatever the FIA decides via their standard or extraordinary rulings.

14. You can't change your entry just because the FIA or a team made a call that helps or hurts your bet. Same goes if an FIA decision screws over your opponent after you've picked your top five favorites. If you already know about an FIA or team decision before you submit, you better account for it. This specifically applies to drivers officially announced as not racing; you can't pick them. If you do, you'll face sanctions, including giving the win and max points to your opponent.

15. Next year's F1 Super League registration order:
15. Next year's F1 Super League registration order:
1. F1 Super League champion
2. F1 Championship champion
3. F1 Tournament 1 winner
4. F1 Tournament 2 winner
5. Accuracy Trophy winner - overall
6. F1 Championship runner-up
7. F1 Super League runner-up
8. F1 Betting house winner
9. F1 Tournament 1 finalist
10. F1 Tournament 2 finalist
11. 3rd place in F1 Championship
12. Accuracy Trophy winner - championship
13. 3rd place in F1 Super League
14. 3rd place in F1 Tournament 1
15. 3rd place in F1 Tournament 2
16. Accuracy Trophy winner - tournament
17. F1 Championship Team Champion (better side)
18. 4th place in F1 Championship
19. 4th place in F1 Tournament 1
20. 4th place in F1 Tournament 2
21. Accuracy Trophy runner-up - overall
22. F1 Championship Team Champion (worse side)
23. 5th place in F1 Championship
24. 5th place in F1 Tournament 1
25. 5th place in F1 Tournament 2
The better teammate is whoever scored more points.
Whoever finishes dead last in the F1 Super League loses 5 spots in next year's draft for every competition they placed in this season. The guy finishing second to last loses 3 spots in their highest-ranking competition from this year.

16. These rules kick in once they're posted in the Super League thread designated for rules and results. We might tweak things later via official amendments, but only if it's absolutely necessary to keep the competition running smoothly.
If some weird situation pops up during the season that isn't covered by these rules, a special committee made up of all the admins and moderators of this subforum will make the call.

We should change it to match our general subforum rules:

Sepa said:3. Per standard US forum policy, banned users are prohibited from participating in any competitions during the round in which they were banned. This applies to anyone whose ban lasts at least until the entry deadline for that specific round, unless they completed all necessary steps for participation before being banned. If a ban expires before that deadline, they’ll be treated like everyone else.

I’m voting for this change.
Other directors and moderators, please cast your votes.
That means Sepa, Pangloss, and WayOut.

Nah, absolutely not, because the moderators basically have immunity so they can't actually get hit with cards or banned.

ruggedfox28, you’re basically my nemesis in the ESPN F1 Super League 2012... honestly, you're the only one who managed to take me down in both matchups last year... looks like you're still on that winning streak 🙂

Where are you even getting that from?
I’ve been flagged before, and I can get hit with one anytime just like anyone else.
Look, I can't flag myself, and the regular mods can't touch me either—but an admin or a supermod can definitely drop a flag on me.

Besides, picking fights with banned users🙄 or people acting like idiots isn't some kind of "privilege."😳

man, you gotta pick a different color for 1st place 😳, because right now it looks exactly like the color for 3rd, and that’s just totally pointless 🙂
also, why on earth are 7th and 8th marked in red when neither of them is even getting relegated from the league (at least not like that) 😕

and I see you finally cleaned up the schedule so it isn't such a blurry mess anymore 👍

And look, regarding all those banned users—I’m not gonna sit here and repeat myself across three different threads—but I am dead set against letting anyone with a ban participate. Period. I’m talking about strictly enforcing that specific rule from the subforum guidelines that tbf brought up. It needs to apply to every single competition, no exceptions.
