Seriously, how is this site even staying afloat if a massive VIP ad pops up on every single, SINGLE new page I click on? I usually have my pop-ups blocked tight... but I’ve never dealt with anything quite this obnoxious before 😠

I have a question for the highly esteemed gentlemen of the moderation team... why aren't locked threads or deleted discussions being moved over to PDF format? Is there some sort of reason behind this, or perhaps something else entirely?
Why go through the trouble of preventing people from having a debate?

Look, that’s just not what this forum is about, you know? It's a whole different thing. 🙂

If a thread gets nuked, I'm pretty sure there was some solid reason why the moderator decided it had to go, and honestly, it’s the exact same deal when a topic gets locked down.

I mean, sure, if you really feel the need, you can always try starting a new thread with a similar vibe over on that other forum, but every single sub-forum has its own set of internal rules that a topic has to play by, and at the end of the day, it’s up to the moderator to decide if the thread actually fits where it was posted or if it's just out of place.

If a thread gets deleted, there's almost certainly a reason why the moderator decided to scrub it from the site, and the same logic applies when a topic gets locked up.

Look, if you really want to, you can always start a new thread on a similar topic over on that other forum, but every single sub-forum has its own set of internal rules it has to follow. Ultimately, it's up to the moderator to decide if a topic actually fits where it was posted or if it’s just out of place.

Fine..
But quite often, threads don't just get locked... they vanish entirely. They're gone.
So, why not just open a "PDF of Deleted and Locked Threads" section? Regardless of the subject matter. Honestly, that could probably be the most free-spirited part of the whole forum.

Look, once a thread gets deleted or locked, the whole thing is basically history, right? There’s really no point in dragging it back into the light or reposting it because it already did what it was supposed to do before it died. 🙂

If you suddenly find a topic has vanished into thin air, I guess you can just shoot a DM to a moderator to ask where it went. Honestly, I figure any moderator will get back to you and let you know the deal with why the thread was nuked.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I might go about removing those specific posts of mine that I've decided I want to delete

So, look, once you hit send on a post, you’ve basically got a 90-minute window where you can go back in and scrub it or fix whatever you messed up, but after that timer runs out, you're pretty much stuck. I guess it means you can't touch it anymore unless a moderator decides to step in and do it for you.

So, what’s the actual drill if I want to swap out my username..?
I don't need to go through the whole headache of spinning up a brand new account, right..?

Quick question—I didn't want to start a whole new thread since this might be slightly off-topic, but I'm stuck. I just got a new PC running Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 10, and for the last few days, the forum's home page has been acting up. Everything was running perfectly smooth until recently, and now it’s just being difficult. I have a few add-ons installed, like Google and Yahoo, but toggling them on and off doesn't change a thing. It’s just glitchy. On the other hand, everything loads perfectly fine over in Firefox...😵

Just curious, mostly just wondering—does the admin team have a bigger inbox than us regular users? Like, is there even a cap on how many messages they can take before things get messy? Could a mod actually go MIA just because their inbox hit a limit? 🙂

The mods have been given an expanded—though definitely not infinite—inbox. 🙂

Is there any way to see a list of all the threads I’ve participated in, specifically where I’ve actually posted? Since I tend to jump into various discussions across a pretty broad range of interests 😁, I don't always have every single topic memorized by the next day. It would be incredibly helpful to be able to check back and see if someone has replied to me or followed up with a new question...

If you look under "Topic Tools," you'll find an option to "Subscribe to this topic," and then if you head over to the "Quick Links" section, there's a way to (show) your "Subscribed Topics."

You can just head over to your own profile and you'll find a full list of your posts right there.

So, the easy fix is just setting up an automatic subscription for every thread you participate in.

Just head over to edit options. Then, look under
default Thread Subscription mode: pick No email notifications and hit Save
.
Once you've got that set, whenever you drop a comment in a thread, the system basically signs you up automatically, so you'll be able to find them all sitting right there in your settings.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but I’m dying to know why we had such a massive spike back on December 8th, 2011, with over 17,000 people hanging out here at once?

Every single time I log in, I see somewhere between 5,000 and 9,000 users active, so I guess that’s just the standard baseline for us??

Anyway, not trying to get too deep into the weeds here, but is the traffic on this forum actually hitting the mark for everyone?? 🙂
