If I ever decided to swap out my handle, assuming I could somehow keep my post count intact, would that actually be an option?

It would be cool if you could just jump into this thread.

I find myself wondering why there isn't a dedicated section on this forum for crime reports or the latest updates from the local news blotters...

Maybe you should check if this topic fits better under other media or perhaps its subforum print media?

Question about code:
Why is it that in some places:
(like Alternative Medicine) both HTML and IMG are OFF
(like here in Forum Help!) HTML is OFF
(but in Jokes) everything is set to ON

What determines how these subforums are set up, and why is certain code disabled while other parts stay enabled?

So, I guess some moderators have decided to block out IMG code on certain PDFs, which is whatever, but then you’ve got HTML basically disabled across pretty much this entire forum... though I suppose the Jokes section is probably the one exception to all that.

Yesterday and today, this forum has been moving at a snail's pace 🙂🙄

My signature. For a second there, I actually thought my laptop was dying on me.

Oh, and another thing—when are we getting the facepalm emoji back? 😢

Whatever... Honestly, I think we should just rehost it.

So, basically, there’s no clue when he might actually show his face again? 😢

Since you can't actually delete a profile on here, I was wondering about something. Looking back at some of the older threads, I noticed some users have their nicknames written in tiny font with "n/a" sitting right underneath them. I mean, I get that n/a usually stands for "not available" or "not applicable," but what’s the deal in this specific context? What does that actually signify for those accounts?

That’s just a legacy profile.

Back then, the rules were totally different.

That profile was deleted, but they don't really do that on request from the user anymore. Maybe they used to back in the day, I guess, but there’s probably just some specific reason why it was wiped.

Is there any actual clarification anywhere regarding which specific aspects of "forum operations" this topic is supposed to cover?

I have a question concerning one particular aspect of how this forum "functions"—and, frankly, I’d really rather not get reprimanded for supposedly being off-topic...

The server crashed and took a chunk of the user base down with it; I suspect those "n/a" tags are just remnants from that era. 😁

Linda Price5 said:The server basically went down and ate a bunch of people, so I'm guessing those n/a entries from back then are just casualties of that crash. 😁

Yeah, I mean, that could totally be part of it too. Maybe they were migrating servers or doing some kind of backend overhaul or whatever, and certain profiles just got wiped out or dropped from the database entirely. 🙂

Nicholas King said:I mean, does anyone actually know what they're talking about when they mention the "functioning of the forum" in this thread? Like, is there some actual explanation somewhere that clarifies which specific parts of how this place runs are being targeted here, or are we all just kind of guessing? I guess it’s hard to tell without some kind of breakdown, maybe.

So, I've got this question about how things actually work around here on the forum, and honestly, I’m trying to be careful because I really don't want to get chewed out by the mods for supposedly going off-topic or whatever...

I guess this is more like a general catch-all thread for any random questions you might have about how this whole forum actually works. You know, stuff like who's pulling the strings behind the scenes as the owner, or what that specific image in the logo is even supposed to represent and all that jazz. Just throw whatever you're wondering about in here.
Look, you’ve been hanging around this forum for a long time now, so I’m pretty sure you already have most of that data burned into your brain, which makes me wonder where you're even going with this question, I guess.

My question is actually regarding the specific colors used for the various usernames—to be honest, I can't quite tell if the inconsistency I'm seeing is just some weird glitch on my own monitor, or if everyone else is experiencing the same thing.

And what’s even the deal with everyone whining about the colors? I mean, honestly, it’s pretty simple—it’s just so you can tell which group people belong to at a glance, right? Like, which specific shade represents which faction seems like the least important part of the whole thing, if you ask me. 🙂
