Hey everyone! So, I’m finally jumping into the fray and posting here for the first time. I’ve officially booked my surgery with Dr. Kinčl, but honestly? After scrolling through this forum, I’m starting to feel a massive wave of anxiety hitting me. There are just so many negative comments floating around. I need some real talk from anyone who has actually gone under his knife. Look, the reason I chose him in the first place is because I’ve had a procedure done by him before, and he was absolutely incredible—the results were nothing short of perfect!!! I figured the same logic would apply to my nose. The problem is, I can’t find a single decent photo of his rhinoplasty work anywhere online. If any of you veterans out there could help a girl out and share some photos of your results, it would mean the world. Sending love to you all!!!

Hey everyone—when did you all finally start getting your sense of smell back?? I have to admit, I’m already starting to miss those scents so much.

For me, today marks day six. My left nostril is completely blocked off constantly, while the right one comes and goes, though it’s dealing with quite a bit of congestion that occasionally turns bloody. The swelling at the bridge of my nose has gone down a decent amount, but I’m still looking pretty colorful in that area.

So, I’m looking into getting some nose work done—purely cosmetic, just focusing on the tip—and I wanted to pick your brains about it. People here in the States talk about surgeons constantly, but I’ve been wondering if anyone has actually looked into what things cost or how the whole process works abroad.
I stumbled upon this site listing prices for surgeries over in the Czech Republic, and honestly, the price gap looks pretty massive...
http://www.estetska-kirurgija.info/c...czech-republic

Also, does anyone have a ballpark idea of what it costs just to fix the nasal tip? Has anyone here gone through with just that specific tweak? If you have, please let me know your experience or even slide into my DMs with a photo.
I’d be seriously, seriously grateful.... 🙂

So, my boyfriend and I were watching this segment from the Red Carpet yesterday—it was all about rhinoplasty, and they actually showed footage of the surgery itself. Good grief, I almost fainted right then and there... I had to shut it off immediately. It was absolutely gruesome...😲
And honestly, seeing that just got me thinking... am I even wired to handle something like that? Like, could I actually get through the whole procedure?

And honestly, seeing that made me start questioning things... I don't know if I'm even mentally prepared to handle the whole process...

Look... it’s like that with every single surgery... just imagine if you were undergoing any other procedure... it isn't any less gruesome than this.🤷

I mean, I'm pretty sure there isn't a single surgery out there that doesn't look absolutely gruesome.😁

I’ve definitely been down that rabbit hole of thinking the same thing... until my doctor looked at me and said, "Look, once we get you under anesthesia, we could practically take your head off and you wouldn't feel a thing." HAHAHA!

AND HE WASN'T KIDDING!! 😁 I didn't feel a single thing. ☕
So seriously, don't even sweat it; you won't have any clue what's happening while you're out cold. 😂

I’m on day six today. My left nostril is completely blocked, and my right one keeps acting up with constant drainage that occasionally turns bloody. The swelling at the bridge of my nose has gone down quite a bit, though I'm still looking pretty bruised and colorful.

I didn't start smelling anything again until day 10 after my surgery... it's a miserable feeling... but don't worry, it'll return to you soon enough.

Thanks, ladies, but honestly? I’m such a massive coward and a total panic attack waiting to happen. I'm terrified I'll end up causing some kind of scene or making a mess of things. xd😂

I think what they were showing on the Red Carpet was an open rhinoplasty—those are definitely way more intense and scary. I had mine done using a closed technique, which is much less daunting than what you saw.😁

Thank you so much for the reassurance, because I was starting to panic a little bit. It’s genuinely unsettling when you can't catch even the strongest scents—I was cooking earlier today and couldn't even smell the garlic hitting the oil when I tossed it in.😲

Exactly, that's the one I'm talking about 😲
is the recovery process more painful with that kind of surgery?

I am absolutely obsessed with my new nose!

I honestly couldn't be happier—I was actually on the verge of tears when I finally saw myself in the mirror 🙂 It’s still a little bit swollen, but even with the swelling, it looks so incredibly smooth and natural 😍

I am so incredibly happy for you!!!! Sorry, I haven't been keeping up—who was your surgeon?? Would you mind sending me a photo via DM?

That’s wonderful... I am genuinely happy to hear that, Sophia Hill22 👍

I actually have my own appointment scheduled for this Friday, and honestly, I am counting down the minutes until it finally rolls around.😁

Hey everyone!

I decided to join this thread because, just like many of you, I’ve been planning this surgery for a long time and I simply cannot make up my mind on which surgeon to choose. I went in for consultations with both Glumicic and Tony Stark. To be honest, neither one really blew me away. Glumicic seemed to rush through my questions; I personally prefer a bit more elaboration, especially when I’m paying out of pocket. That said, I did get the sense he actually knows his stuff (unless he was just giving me canned answers). As for Tony Stark, he was incredibly polite and easy to talk to, but he seemed a bit hesitant when answering certain questions. He didn't even bother to check if I had a deviated septum during the exam—which I know I do—and I feel like that should be a pretty standard part of the process, right?

For those of you who went with the closed technique: did you experience any issues with the skin around your eyes post-op? I was browsing MakeMeHeal (the biggest rhinoplasty site I could find), and a lot of people there are reporting wrinkles around the eyes once the swelling and bruising subside. They describe it as the area looking sort of "hollow"—like they have "hollow eyes." Has anyone here dealt with similar issues after working with any of our local surgeons?

Thanks!

wearyotter112 — I just had my surgery with Dr. Bastaic (huge thanks to him!!!) — I’m going to send some photos to everyone who’s gearing up for their own procedure, and also to dear Swift and rustygardener172 who reached out to me; honestly, those messages meant the world to me when I was sitting there overthinking everything, because I know exactly how much that kind of encouragement helps. 🙂

Right now, I still have the medical tape on and things are pretty swollen, so once the swelling goes down, I’ll post some actual shots since this doesn't really show the final result yet—but I have to say, despite all this puffiness, my nose looks totally cute! It doesn't look "done" or unnatural, the nostrils aren't overly visible, it hasn't turned into a slide shape, and it doesn't look like a tiny, cookie-cutter nose either; it's just more streamlined and refined, and honestly, it's gorgeous. 😍

p.s. I've got quite a bit of swelling—the lady at the grocery store actually asked me today if I'd been in a car accident!

Carol Diaz31 — Who are you planning to see?

mistyeagle4 — This is the first I'm hearing about that—is it considered a permanent side effect? And is it strictly tied to having a closed rhinoplasty?

My skin feels a little rough and puffy right now, but I’ve barely been able to wash my face for the last week, so I'm really hoping this is just a temporary thing.

Hey, rustygardener172, since you're actually hanging around—I have to ask, when did your sense of smell finally come back to you?

edit—and don't worry, I'll definitely be sending over some photos for you to see.🙂

Honestly, I used to find it hilarious when I’d go grocery shopping with my boyfriend; people would give us these side-eyes like they thought he was beating me up 🙂 hahahahahaha
that’s why it’s way better to just take two weeks off to let everything settle down... because even after seven days, those bruises can still be pretty visible 😁

As for that whole eye inflammation thing... first time I'm hearing about it. Your skin might feel a little tight once the swelling finally goes down... but it'll bounce back.

Sophia Hill22 said:Hey, rustygardener172, since you're actually hanging around—when did you finally get your mojo back?

I honestly have no clue if he even bothered coming back to me. 😕 LMAO, seriously though... I can't even. That is just too much.
I was already feeling a bit off before the surgery, you know? Dealing with that deviated septum is no joke. My doctor told me straight up that it’s going to take probably a year or two for the mucous membrane to fully bounce back and settle down. I mean, I'm getting there... I can definitely smell things again, though some scents hit me way harder than others. It's a slow process, but I guess that's just how it goes. 😁 Look, you really need to give it at least a month before you even think about trying to get back into the swing of things. Your body needs that downtime to actually recover and catch its breath, you know? If you rush it, you're just asking for trouble. Once you've actually caught your second wind, then—and only then—can you start thinking about getting back out there.

I feel like my sense of smell has just completely tanked lately. There are things I know should be hitting me with a strong scent, but honestly, I’m picking up absolutely nothing. 🤔
