Alright guys, here’s my latest thyroid panel results:
T4 113 ( 58-161)
T3 1.88 (1.2-2.7)
TSH 1.54 ( 0.436-4.60)
TPO 165 ( less than 34)
TGA 360 ( less than 115)

Everyone I talked to keeps saying this points straight to Hashimoto's... just waiting on more tests now to confirm.

I need some advice here. I have a little baby at home and I’m terrified about the possibility of passing something on. For two weeks now, my knees have been killing me, and now the pain has spread to pretty much every joint in my body. I had bloodwork done and everything looks fine—no signs of inflammation—but they ran an AST and another test, and one of them came back positive. It says: "high diagnostic specificity for staph infection." Should I just wait until Monday to see my doctor, or should I head straight to the ER?

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some perspective on these lab results:

MCH 26.0, normal range is 27.4-33.9
MCHC 303, normal range is 320-345

Also, I read somewhere that there shouldn't be any Urobilinogen in urine, but mine shows 3.2. What does that imply?😢 Any advice would be appreciated.

Is anyone going to answer me? I'm getting a bit worried about this Urobilinogen level at 3.2. Is that actually normal, or am I looking at some kind of gallbladder or liver issue? Please let me know.😁😉

Hey, I just got my blood and urine lab results back. Everything looks totally normal except for these few things:
medical biochemistry: urate 469H (ref 182-403) hdl cholesterol 0.8 L (ref >1)
urinalysis: leukocytes 75 Leu/ul (ref div>

I could really use some help translating a medical report from Italian if anyone here is able to assist me...

Superior vena cava syndrome involving:
-an expansive lesion with a maximum diameter of approximately 6.5 cm, infiltrating the mediastinal pleura, the confluence of the brachiocephalic bronchi and the superior vena cava, the right internal mammary artery, and the pericardium. Chest CT dated 03/02/09.
-suspected carcinomatous lymphangiomatosis
-suspected metastasis in the right kidney
-mediastinal and hilar lymphadenopathy.

Thanks in advance

Upper vena cava syndrome, along with...
So, I was looking over these CT scans from back on March 2nd... and man, it’s a lot to take in. There's this expansive lesion, hitting about 6.5 cm at its widest point. It's pretty aggressive, too—it's pushing into the mediastinal pleura and seems to be merging up with where the brachiocephalic bronchi meet the superior vena cava. It’s also involving the right internal mammary artery and the pericardium... just a whole lot going on there...
So... doctor mentioned something about suspected carcinomatous lymphangiomatosis... honestly, just sitting here trying to process what that even means... everything feels a bit heavy right now... definitely a lot to wrap my head around...
So... doctor's looking at things and there's this suspicion of some kind of right renal metastasis... just waiting on more news now...
So, I just got some news back from the docs... they're calling them benign mediastinal lymphadenopathies. Basically, my lymph nodes in the chest area are slightly swollen, but thankfully, it's nothing scary... just some incidental stuff that popped up on the scans. It feels like such a relief to have that cleared up... honestly, I was sweating it for a second there...

thanks...

Look, I’m no expert on Italian, but hey, you've got a dictionary right there... just Google an Italian-to-English translator, type in the word, and boom—you'll get the definition. But man, looking at this report... it honestly looks like there might be some metastasis involved. I'm seeing mentions of the lung area and the pericardium (that's the sac around the heart)...?😕 I really hope I'm wrong about this one...

I gave it a shot, but it didn't really do much for me
it only picks up a handful of words

it only picks up a few words here and there

So when I dumped the whole block of text into the dictionary, this popped up:
''Syndrome of superior vena cava with/on expansive maximum lesion diameter about 6.5 cm, infiltrating mediastinal pleura, draining into brachiocephalic bronchi and superior vena cava, right internal mammary artery and pericardium. Chest CT 02:03:09. Lymphangiomatosis-suspected-carcinomatosis suspicious metastatic renal-right mediastinal lymphadenopathy ILARI.''

And if we tried to actually make sense of it, I think it would look something like this:
Superior vena cava syndrome with/near:
- an expansive lesion with a max diameter of about 6.5cm, infiltrating the mediastinal pleura (lung lining), draining into the brachiocephalic bronchi and the superior vena cava, the right internal mammary artery, and the pericardium. Chest CT 02:03:09
- suspected carcinomatous lymphangiomatosis (no clue what that actually means though)
- suspected metastasis from the right kidney
- ILARI mediastinal lymphadenopathy (totally lost on what this part signifies)

Anyway, hope that helps you out even just a tiny bit...🤷

If we tried to reconstruct it properly, it would probably look like this:
Superior vena cava syndrome with:
- an expansive lesion measuring about 6.5cm, infiltrating the mediastinal pleura (lung lining), involving the brachiocephalic bronchi and the superior vena cava, the right internal mammary artery, and the pericardium. Chest CT 02:03:09
- suspicion of lymphangiomatosis carcinomatosis (not sure what that means)
- suspicion of right kidney metastasis
- ILARI mediastinal lymphadenopathy (no idea what that part means)

There, I hope that helps you out just a little bit..🤷

I think that refers to the lymph nodes (lymph carcinoma?)

but if we were to try and piece it together logically, I think it would look more like this:
Superior vena cava syndrome with/associated with:
- an expansive lesion measuring approximately 6.5cm at its widest point, infiltrating the mediastinal pleura (the lung lining), draining into the brachiocephalic bronchi and the superior vena cava, the right internal mammary artery, and the pericardium. Chest CT 02:03:09

you helped a little
thanks anyway

Yeah, that’s exactly what crossed my mind too, but I honestly can't say for sure...😕
anyway, good luck!🙂

May I pose a single question? What does it actually signify when protein shows up in my urine—the standard range is usually 0 to negative, yet I’m looking at a result of +++ (three pluses). Thanks in advance

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well!

I’m a bit concerned about my most recent liver panel results and was hoping I could get some perspective from you guys.

Here is the breakdown of what’s going on:
Results from May 6th, 2009:
AST-54
ALT-161
GGT-95

Previous results from February 3rd, 2009 (which were normal):
AST-20
ALT-28
GGT-22

Just as a side note, ever since my bilirubin was first flagged back in 1992, it has consistently stayed in the 23-29 range.

Also, about a month ago, I had to deal with some sciatica. To manage it, I took 8 injections of Voltaren, 3 injections of dexamethasone, and did 5 days of electrotherapy.
Since the sciatica seemed to be clearing up, I noticed a fever pop up about five days ago—it hit 101.3°F one day and then dropped to 98.6°F the next. I didn't feel any different than usual, no other symptoms at all, but my doctor sent me in for blood work, which is when they caught these elevated liver numbers.
Now she's sending me to get more specific markers checked.
A little background: I'm 42 years old, I don't drink alcohol at all, and I haven't been feeling any abdominal pain.

I'd really appreciate any advice or thoughts you might have on what this could potentially be.

Thanks,

Well, I'm back after taking a little break to get these tests done.
So, following my thyroid and heart check-ups, here are the results:

1.
Thyroid ultrasound—completely normal. No cysts or nodules found.

Blood hormone panels:
T3: 1.96 (1.3-3.1)
T4: 107.5 (59-154)
TSH: 2.59 (0.27-4.2)

2.
Cardiac Exam:
The ultrasound of the heart and lungs shows everything looks structurally sound. Physically, everything is normal.
It shows normal organ sizes and good contractions, with no issues regarding regional contractility.
The valves look normal both morphologically and functionally.
The right side of the heart is normal too.

Doppler of carotid and vertebral arteries:
Flow velocities in the carotid and vertebral arteries are appropriate.
Lumen widths are within normal limits.
There are no significant hemodynamic changes noted in the neck portion of the carotid and vertebral arteries.

A Holter monitor was recommended.

3.
Holter Monitor Results:
Dynamic ECG: A total of 112,404 QRS complexes were recorded over 24 hours in sinus rhythm.
A minimum frequency of 47 bpm was noted for 10 hours (while sleeping), while a maximum heart rate of 177 bpm was recorded at 15 hours during physical activity.
No SVES were detected.
A total of 21,316 PVCs were recorded, of which 9,003 occurred in the form of bigeminy.
No pauses greater than 2 seconds were observed.

It’s pretty clear these arrhythmias have been hanging around for about a year now, but I haven't paid them much attention because people always say they come from stress.
But, since they've actually been caught on paper now, I would kindly ask any experts here to explain what this Holter report actually means?
Should I be worried, or should I just keep ignoring these palpitations?😕
thanks!
🙏

Finding protein in your urine—also known as proteinuria—usually points toward some kind of inflammation or kidney issues.
Basically, this result means you really need to follow up with a 24-hour urine collection, urine electrophoresis, a cytology test, and a urine culture. Doing those will definitely help pin down exactly what’s going on.
You should definitely check in with your doctor for a referral to a nephrologist; please don't just brush this result off.
I'm assuming you also had some blood work done? How did those results look—any abnormalities there?

Did I somehow totally miss the mark on my question about those Holter results and my thyroid, or is everyone just ignoring me? Or maybe, just maybe, nobody actually knows how to explain what this Holter monitor even picked up.
Come on, please. 🙂
I honestly tend to trust our resident forum doctors more than anyone else. Even if nothing happens—it’s not like I’m terrified of things being hopeless.
Anyway, the cardiologist I saw is tied up with some other stuff right now. While I wait for him to get back in a few days to review everything, I would really, truly love to know if I should be panicking or what?
Can I go hit the gym, or am I stuck staying home and resting?

This result is a clear signal that you really ought to undergo a 24-hour urine collection, urine electrophoresis, a cytology test, and a urine culture; once those are done, we will certainly have a much clearer picture of where the issue actually lies.
You absolutely need to follow up with your doctor for further processing and see a nephrologist; by no means should you brush this finding aside.
I assume a complete blood count was also performed—how does that look, are there any deviations?

Many thanks. I am heading to the hospital today for a check-up (the infectious disease unit). I was actually hospitalized for a week due to strep throat, and during that stay, nobody noticed anything regarding the protein levels. To be honest, I've had protein in my urine for two years now, but I have an "EXTREEEEEMELY" 👎great doctor who completely ignored it until he went on vacation, and now his replacement is covering for him and finally expressed concern.
As for my blood work, everything is within the normal range.
I will let you know what happens at the hospital.
thanks again!

So, I went in for some blood and urine work last month...

The results:

Everything looks fine except for a few things:
RED BLOOD CELL 5.26 (3.86-5.08)
HEMOGLOBIN 158 (119-157)
HEMATOCRIT 0.48 (0.36-0.47)
WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNT 10.9 (3.4-9.7)

I’m guessing these are just minor deviations, but I was wondering if I should actually bother with any follow-up testing or if it's nothing to worry about.

So, I just got my hormone levels back from day 3 of my cycle: According to this, FSH is the only thing slightly outside the normal range. But honestly, that LH value has me a little worried too, since I read somewhere that FSH and LH values should be somewhat close to each other. I'm 25, and this is actually the first time I've ever had my hormones checked... I have an appointment with my OBGYN in two weeks. Does anyone think they could help me make sense of this? Specifically FSH and LH?

FSH 9.8 IU/L (1.8 -9.4)
LH 2.8 IU/L (0.8-10.4)
ESTRADIOL 0.232 nmol/L (0.11-0.65)
PROLACTIN 163 mIU/L (81-597)
TESTOSTERONE 0.7 nmol/L (0.4-2.74)
DHEA-SO4 4.6 μmol/L (1.8 -9.8)
17 OH-PROG 1.5 nmol/L (0.33-3.27)

Thanks 🙂)
