Hey,
Got my blood work back today and... I'm lost. Can anyone actually help me make sense of this? No one answering my previous questions has been direct or helpful.
I’ll just list the ones that are out of range: (K)MCV 100.3 (83.0-97.2)
(K)PLATELETS 157 (158-424)
(K)MPV 11.8 (6.8-10.4)
(S) GLUCOSE 4.0 (4.2-6.0)
LDL CHOLESTEROL 3.6 ( S CHOLESTEROL 5.8 ( S Fe 7.9 (8-30)
S T4 60 (66-181)
And the one that's really freaking me out— S TSH 165.7 !! (0.27-4.2)

Just did the draw. Heading to my primary care doctor tomorrow to figure out the next steps.

It looks pretty obvious that you're dealing with hypothyroidism, meaning your thyroid isn't working quite right.
With a TSH value that high, you really need to see an endocrinologist or head over to a specialist. They'll likely want to run some extra tests for thyroid antibodies, like anti-TPO and anti-TG, because it sounds a lot like Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
You'll probably need to start hormone replacement therapy with Synthroid pretty quickly, at a dosage your doctor decides on.
As for the rest of your results, they point toward a mild anemia, which usually goes hand-in-hand with thyroid issues like this.
Hang in there! It's a super common condition, and we even have a specific thread for thyroid stuff here. If you have more questions, just ask.🙏

Thanks for the heads-up. Both my grandma and aunt dealt with thyroid issues—my aunt actually had surgery for it. I decided to get checked out because of some other symptoms I’ve been having. I just scrolled through the thyroid threads, and honestly, people with elevated TSH don't have it nearly as bad as I do. This is way too much. Ugh, I feel sick.

Don't let it get to you. I know people who had insanely high TSH levels—we're talking up to 295—and they're doing totally fine now on medication.
Your lipids are probably slightly elevated just because of the hypothyroidism.
The main thing is just starting the treatment, and everything will settle down.
The most important part is that there is medicine available to keep things under control so you can function normally.

Hey everyone,
I need some advice. Just got my blood work back and I'm looking at the results. My neutrophils are slightly low at 44.1L(45.0-72.0) and my monocytes are high at 11.2H(3.0-10.0), plus my iron is sitting right on the edge at 120(119-157). Everything else—white blood cells, red blood cells, hematocrit, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW, platelets, lymphocytes, eosinophils, basophils, urea, creatinine, AST, ALP, ALT, Na, K, and CRP—all look totally normal.

Is this actually something to worry about, or am I just overthinking things?

My anti-TPO levels are elevated, though my hormones came back fine. I'm wondering if there's a connection here. Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

I was wondering if someone could take a look at my recent checkup results:

AST: 44
ALT: 61
GGT: 18

I'm pretty lean, 30 years old, and I stay active, but the labs also show my
TSH is 4.7 and my cholesterol is high at 6

My doctor didn't seem too worried during the physical, suggesting these might just be temporary fluctuations, and he mentioned I could see an endocrinologist about my thyroid later on. It all feels a little strange to me...

What do you think could be causing this, and what should my next steps be? Should I ask for an abdominal ultrasound or something...

Anyway, thanks so much

I just stepped out from my blood draw, and my AST came back at 903...
What does that actually mean?

Hey, I’d love to get some thoughts on this. My blood work and urine tests have been totally normal over my last two panels (about two months apart), but these numbers are tripping me up:

ALT-89
AST-122
CRP-11.14

Also, my creatinine, gamma GT, and iron levels are all running a bit low. My abdominal ultrasound came back completely clean, except for a slightly enlarged spleen, and I already tested negative for hepatitis. Does anyone have any idea why my liver enzymes would be spiking like this?
Thanks a ton!

My ASTA, sedimentation, and CRP levels all came back positive, which pretty much points to a staph infection lurking somewhere in my system. My joints have been giving me hell lately, my lungs hurt when I breathe, and I’m dealing with slight swelling and bruising around my ankles from broken capillaries. On the bright side, all my rheumatology labs look fine. My CRP was jumping all over the place over the last two weeks—swinging from 35 to 89 and then down to 13—and while my sedimentation was high, it’s finally back to normal. The only thing still flagging is the staph.

I'd love to hear your thoughts while I wait for my appointment with the immunologist... Honestly, the lung pain is what's keeping me up at night; after everything I've read about staph, it's pretty unsettling.

Well, I finally got my lipid panel back, and here is how things look:

Total Cholesterol = 4.9 ( HDL = 1.2 (>1.0)
LDL = 2.5 ( Triglycerides = 2.7 (
Everything seems to be hovering right on the edge of the acceptable range, except for those triglycerides—they shot way past the limit.
Budo .... Anthony .... any thoughts on these numbers? What should my next move be?
Thanks!
🙏

Since everything looks good aside from the triglycerides, the best thing you can do is grab some Omega-3 fatty acid supplements from Belup at your local pharmacy. Honestly, don't sweat it too much—these are pretty minor deviations. Just start taking those, and maybe cut back on fats a little. I'm sure your doctor will tell you the exact same thing.

Thanks, placiddrifter26, for the reply and the suggestion.

That’s pretty much what I was thinking.
A sudden stop to my exercise routine—which, mind you, I used to stick to religiously every other day—combined with
the old habit of snacking that just never went away.
It was bound to catch up with me.

As for Omega-3, I heard some talk about potential carcinogenic properties being found in certain supplements. Honestly, I don't know. I heard the rumor, but I can't say for sure.
Maybe you or someone else in this group knows more and can confirm or debunk it.
Anyway, until things become clearer, I'm betting that a proper, balanced diet combined with
getting back into sports (even if it's just recreational, but at least regular) could help bring these lab numbers down.

Hey everyone,
Does anyone have a solid recommendation for a private lab in the San Jose or Miami area—or somewhere nearby—where I can get my thyroid panels done? I really need to get these tests sorted out.

Thanks!

To really make sense of these results, we need the reference ranges. Every lab uses different reagents, so it’s super tough to judge your levels without knowing their specific scale.
That said, that prolactin number jumped out at me immediately—it looks pretty high. I'm thinking things might be a bit off, but if you can post those reference values, maybe we can dig a little deeper.

LH 4.48 (1.5-8.0)
FSH 6.59 (3.9-12)
estradiol 21.6 (18-147)
prolactin 654.9 (105-735)
progesterone 2.7 (0.6-4.7)

What do you guys think about this part? I got these a few days ago:

cholesterol 6.6 ( triglycerides 2.6 ( serum slightly lipemic

It looks like you have hyperlipidemia, which basically means high cholesterol levels. It’s not a massive spike, though, so you could probably manage a good chunk of this just by tweaking your diet—unless there's an underlying issue like a thyroid condition or maybe some kidney stuff going on.
I'm not sure how old you are or if you've dealt with any metabolic issues before.
To start, try cutting back on fats. You might want to try some Omega-3 supplements from Johnson & Johnson, and try adding a little olive oil to your meals. Definitely ditch the sausages, deli meats, and anything else packed with fat. Also, load up on fruits and veggies.
As for your reproductive hormones, they all seem to be sitting right on the edge of the normal range.
Have you had your thyroid levels checked yet?

Thanks so much for the info.

I did have my thyroid checked; I don't have the results handy, but everything was within the normal range. My ultrasound showed my thyroid is slightly enlarged, but there aren't any cysts or anything like that. The specialist said it's fine for now, just that I might be more predisposed to thyroid issues later on. Anyway, I'm waiting until June 23rd just to get on the schedule for an appointment eight months from now—which is honestly ridiculous. I think I'll just end up paying a private clinic again.
