I am not pregnant.

Since my doctor wasn't in this afternoon when I received my results, I won't see her until tomorrow.
I will have the full details then, though I expect everything is fine.

When you find yourself in that spot where your blood sugar levels just aren't hitting the mark, regardless of which reading you look at, it really calls for a bit of an investigation.
It doesn't necessarily point to a chronic medical issue, but rather could just be a temporary reaction to something you ate or did, though it is always wise to stay informed about what's happening.

Hey everyone. Dealing with hypothyroidism lately. Just got my labs back after five months, and honestly, things are looking up—hormones, cholesterol, iron levels... everything is pretty much back within the normal range. The only outlier is my MPV, which is still a bit high. It was 11.8 before, now it’s sitting at 11.4.
Basically, I want to know what MPV actually stands for and what it’s usually linked to.

She had mononucleosis, and while everything seems to be fine now, there’s this note on her results stating the serum is icteric

I was wondering, what exactly does that signify?

Thank you very much

😢😢

Cholesterol—the goal is usually under 5.0 mmol/L—so you're just slightly elevated here.
Triglycerides—the target is under 1.7 mmol/L—which means yours are way up there.
Triglycerides are usually tied directly to what you eat, so you've got to cut back on fats, watch out for those hidden greasy culprits, and load up on more fruits and veggies. Doing that will probably bring your cholesterol down too.

Hello

I am considering getting some blood work done. Could anyone recommend a high-quality lab located near Central Park or in the surrounding area?

thanks

Can someone please make sense of these numbers for me?
WBC flags
%MON: 2,8 (4,0-10,0)
#MON: 0,2 (0,3-0,8)

If anyone actually knows what they're looking at... thanks.

ugh, just got my test results back and I am freaking out... please help...
so basically, I had an MRI done on my spine because my neck keeps popping—like, every single time it "clicks," I get this absolutely brutal headache... 😢

The report says:

Reduced bone density in the vertebral bodies and arches of the cervical spine, though the overall structure looks okay. Vertebral bodies and intervertebral spaces are normal height. There is flattening of the physiological lordosis, which suggests partial arthrosis. Also, there are more massive transverse processes at C7 on both sides.

Why can't these doctors just speak like actual human beings? 😍

Loss of disc height in the vertebral bodies and cervical arches despite normal structure. The vertebral bodies and intervertebral spaces are of appropriate height. There is straightening of the physiological lordosis, which suggests some muscle spasms. There are more prominent transverse processes at C7 on both sides.

Nothing too crazy here, just some early degenerative changes. How old are you?

27 🙄

Is there any way to stop it—or even just slow things down?

What does that actually mean?

Thanks

It means the serum is yellow due to high bilirubin levels. Basically, the mono hit the liver a bit, and it needs some time to recover.

Is there any way to actually prevent this, or at least slow things down?

Just standard preventative stuff. Good posture, getting enough calcium and Vitamin D, staying active enough to keep blood flowing well through the spine...

I hit Pilates twice a week...

but does hitting up a chiropractor even make sense? A buddy of mine went, and now his neck doesn't even "pop" anymore. 🙄

Could someone please let me know if they've had similar experiences regarding ALP (alkaline phosphatase)? My levels have come back lower than the standard range...
ALP (alkaline phosphatase) = 33 (ref 60-142)

Thanks, everyone.😁

Does anyone actually know what it means when my 24-hour urine volume comes back high? The standard range is usually between 600 and 1600 mL, but mine clocked in at 1980...
Thanks

Those numbers depend entirely on how much water you drank throughout the day. Personally, I think lower readings are more concerning, as that could suggest your kidneys aren't functioning quite right. I wouldn't stress over it too much if I were you.

I forgot to mention that the 24-hour urine test is used to measure potassium and sodium levels. If my memory serves me right, cardiologists look closely at this because both potassium and sodium play a huge role in regulating blood pressure...

Could someone please explain what neutrophils actually do?
Mine are sitting at 29.4, while the standard range is listed between 44 and 72.

Thanks in advance,

K.

ALP (alkaline phosphatase) = 33 (ref 60-142)

thanks everyone😁

Low alkaline phosphatase enzyme levels can be seen in patients undergoing dialysis, those dealing with malnutrition, hypothyroidism, radioactive material buildup in the bones, or deficiencies in vitamin B12, zinc, and
magnesium within the diet.
