My top picks would have to be Suicide Commando, Hocico, Agonoize, Grendel, Tactical Sekt, and Die Sektor.

I’m honestly a bit confused about why Rabia Sorda is even on that list, though. It really jumped out at me as being out of place.

Could someone please enlighten me as to what specific genre of music we are discussing here? To be perfectly clear, I am not interested in delving into various subgenres at this moment; rather, I am seeking to identify its fundamental origin. What exactly is this music?

hmmm... Rabia Sorda... they probably lean into that indie vibe. I don't have anything against Rabia, personally, even if they could afford to be a bit more aggressive with their sound. But honestly, my money is on Hocico, Dulce Liquido, or Life Cried...

It really just depends on the specific artist... x-fusion seems obsessed with spitting in the face of Christianity—all that "can't you see the lies, dear God" type of rhetoric—whereas other acts don't even bother touching religious themes at all. That said, I've always found the track "Widauth a God" by Hocico to be incredibly spiritual, yet then you have "About a Dead God" where they're basically declaring the divine deceased. It’s hard to say which direction they're actually heading... 🤷

I guess it really depends on the specific band you're looking at. For instance, Hocico tends to focus heavily on social, religious, and political issues within Mexico, whereas Suicide Commando leans more into brutal themes like serial killers or anti-religious sentiments. You have some artists who tackle societal issues as a whole, while others just write those totally mindless 666 lyrics. It really just varies from group to group.

What I’m trying to get at is that you simply cannot lump the entire Goth genre into one single bucket when it comes to lyrics... just as you can't do the same for rock, metal, pop, punk, or rap

I just spent some time checking out Gothicin tracks on YouTube, and honestly, Suicide Commando and Agonoize have some killer stuff. I think I'll start by downloading their albums first before moving on to the rest of the names on your list...

I’d also put Hocico at the top of your list, followed closely by Life Cried, which I’ve always been quite fond of, then Rabia Sorda, and perhaps some of the heavier stuff from Dulce Liquido—keep in mind both Rabia Sorda and Dulce Liquido are just side projects from two members of Hocico... then there’s x-fusion, where the lyrical content is excellent even if the music itself feels a bit lacking, and finally, a slightly more obscure pick like Acid Trauma. Those are my suggestions for you 👍

I feel somewhat obligated to point you toward the God module; while it seems to be a crowd favorite, it hasn't quite done anything for me personally, so if it resonates with you, then fine...
