Taylor Patel2 said:It was already widely recommended in that other thread, so I fail to see why there needs to be a dedicated topic just for suggestions...

So, the conversation has finally taken shape... I find myself settling into this thread quite comfortably... ๐Ÿ™‚

Taylor Patel2 said:Letโ€™s be honest, Hocico isn't exactly the bottom of the barrel when it comes to stupidity, especially since there are plenty of others out there who are just as dim-witted... I might have been a bit too hasty with my judgment earlier...

Beauty is entirely subjectiveโ€”some people might find someone like Paris Hilton attractiveโ€”and intelligence is equally a matter of opinion, though if you ask me, there are really only two words that define stupidity: reality TV...โ˜•

I just realized that the thread I linked is titled nothing more or less than "Dark electro, EBM, industrial recommendations" ๐Ÿคฃ ...itโ€™s strictly a thread for song suggestions.

To be fair, mainstream pop isn't necessarily any stupider than EBM; if anything, Iโ€™d argue some indie artists actually lean into a bit of a crossover with those sonic monsters (think Nine Inch Nails, for example). ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿ‘

Regarding the looks of the Hocico members, Iโ€™m not going to get into specific physical traits, but man, look at the guy on the left in that PVC coat and tell me that styling doesn't work for him. I noticed you picked out the better-looking/more fitting one, so clearly you aren't completely clueless. ๐Ÿ˜
Thatโ€™s all I meanโ€”Iโ€™m not judging based on whether his facial features are perfect or how jacked his arms are.

I have to say, New York City is quite stunning โ˜• ๐Ÿ˜ณ

PVC Mantilu๐Ÿ˜....Their hairstyles are honestly something else. I used to think nothing could top that massive blowout party hosted by George Washington, but clearly, I was wrong.

Personally, Iโ€™m not a huge fan of New York City; it feels a bit too shallow for me. And her face looks like some teenager straight out of a teen movie... wait, hold on, what are we even debating here??๐Ÿ˜

Iโ€™ve actually been listening to Hocico a lot lately. Sure, they aren't much to look at (not even a surgeon like Glumiฤiฤ‡ could fix that), but their Memorias Altras album is absolutely masterful. "A Fatal Desire," "Blindfold," "Spirals of Time"... some truly incredible tracks!

hmmm... when you really sit down and weigh all the variables, it seems Hocico is more about making noise than actually putting on a showโ˜•

Man, I honestly don't get why everyone puts so much effort into their makeup โ˜•
instead of taking a page out of Albinio's book, for instance โ˜•like Rebe and Shuljaโ€”we're here to play music, not to win a beauty pageant

Anyone still holding out hope for our thread about fine art photography from the electro scene?

We touched on who covers which topics briefly earlier in the thread..

Could someone give me a bit more detail on how bands approach specific themes? For instance, I know Hocico focuses heavily on Mexico... but I'm curious about others. Which groups lean into anti-religious lyrics, the whole 666 aesthetic, or dive deep into social issues and things like that?

I can't really help you out there; trying to parse those lyrics is a lost cause because they either sound completely garbled or they just cut off mid-sentence ๐Ÿ™

For example, check out Ayria - My Revenge on the World :hihi: <- definitely some good tunes for the ladies ^^

Iโ€™m feeling the music, but the vocals just aren't hitting the mark for me...
In my estimation, Racso Agroyam from Dulce delivers the most incredible scream out there, though I find it impossible to forgive how they've gone and processed it lately. They really should have just left that raw, natural voice untouched, it was pure perfection...

When it comes to lyrics, I find myself leaning heavily toward X-Fusion (though the music itself feels a bit thin ๐Ÿ™‚), then thereโ€™s Actetic Perfection, who actually possesses a genuine knack for songwriting, followed by the fluid style of Dulceโ€”provided, of course, one uses an online translator to finally grasp what they're actually talking about... and lastly, the heavy hitters like Hocico and the more underground vibes of Rabia Sorda (Save me fra my curse ๐Ÿ™‚).

Tnx for the suggestions.๐Ÿ™‚.

pzychobitch is solid๐Ÿ˜.Especially that maschinerie stuff.

Also, I found out that wumpscut leans into anti-religious themes, and some of their tracks touch on global issues caused by human interference (like wreath of barbs).

Iโ€™d argue that Wumpscut is essentially playing at being edgy. It feels less like a genuine movement and more like a calculated attempt to adopt an industrial aesthetic specifically designed to induce a bad trip. Now, my background is primarily in disco, so I look at things through that lens; the "trip" theyโ€™re selling isn't quite the visceral, mind-bending experience you get from bands like Gristle or SPK. Itโ€™s a somewhat sanitized, almost clichรฉ version of chaos. But if Wumpscut decides that the path to a dark disco sound requires summoning demons, rehashing traumatic childhood tropes, or screaming about Soylent Greenโ€”fine, heโ€™ll play that hand.

Soylent Green (-> an electro-goth anthem), Fear in Motion (available on YouTube) ๐Ÿ™

Hey.

Iโ€™ve got a few Wumpscut albums saved on my hard drive, but I realized I don't actually have the one featuring Fear in Motion. I think I'll download it just to see what the hype is about.

I'm also pretty big on zombie Girl. Actually, I'm listening to the album Back fra The deap right now.

Taylor Patel2 said:Look, at its core, this is disco music first and foremost, so you can't expect the kind of psychedelic experience Gristle or SPK would serve up... itโ€™s more of a banal, stripped-down version, but... if Wumpscut is looking for some dark, gritty discotheque vibe, then sure, if he needs to summon the devil, reminisce about a twisted childhood, scream Soylent Green, or whatever else it takes to set the mood... he'll find it.

EBM isn't just some mindless club track you jump to; comparing it to standard techno or that commercialized American garbage is a mistake. There are plenty of intelligent people making insightful points here, if only you cared to look...

It seems like weโ€™ve hit a bit of a snag here. There isn't enough substance in that single word to work with, much like trying to build a skyscraper on a foundation of sand. If you have an actual thought, a question, or even a particularly biting observation you'd like me to refine, please lay it out. I'm ready when you are.

Honestly, if youโ€™re still relying on physical discs to listen to music, you might want to check your pulse. It feels like that medium has become nothing more than a relic for people who just can't keep up with the times.

Is it disco or not? Honestly, it just depends on the artist. There isn't really one set definition for what counts as disco... at least not in my book.

Wait, is anyone else actually listening to this right now?
