Wait, what do you mean you can't find a gynecologist?? There's a private practice on basically every street corner here🤷

Look, honey... don't sweat it. It’s probably just some hormonal imbalance... you'll get there eventually.
If getting pregnant were actually as easy as you think it is, we'd be popping out kids after every single time we hooked up.

Just relax, go back to the doctor, and tell them your period hasn't shown up yet.

You aren't pregnant—that's 100% certain.

I think I heard somewhere that there are specific pills meant just for delaying your period, though honestly, I might be mixing them up with regular birth control. I guess you aren't supposed to push it for more than ten days anyway, but if I remember right, you usually need a prescription, so you’d probably have to check in with your OB-GYN first. Anyway, if you're really not feeling it, maybe just ask at a local pharmacy? They should probably know something about it too.

I’m feeling pretty rough right now. It’s mostly due to chronic gastritis, which is a hell of a thing to be dealing with at just 17, plus my cycle is completely unpredictable—I don't even get it without taking pills...

It’s entirely possible to experience every single pregnancy symptom just because it's all in your head. That’s exactly what my OB-GYN told me when I walked in convinced I was pregnant. They see cases like this all the time—women imagining symptoms only to find out there's nothing there, or women who think they're gaining weight from some metabolic issue when they actually just end up having a baby nine months later. Some people act like they're being reborn into a whole new world or something.

It’s a heavy feeling, honestly. Being pregnant and having absolutely no clue what's actually happening inside you...

Hey ladies... first time posting here... I've got a little "issue"... I've been on birth control for almost a year now, and it's totally stopped my crazy painful periods... but here's the thing... a while back, I "skipped" a period using them, and about a week after when I should've had it, I started getting this weird discharge that lasted until my next cycle. I read online that it's normal when you skip a month (I'm on Sprintec, by the way)... but now it's the next month, and I'm supposed to start my period in 6 days, but for a few days now, I've been having this heavy, bloody, slimy discharge, and my ovaries are kind of aching... it’s not intense pain, more like just feeling them there...😢...anyone else dealt with this?.. please tell me it's nothing serious... I have an appointment with my OBGYN in two weeks for my first ultrasound, but I could really use some reassurance right now.😢...😢

So, I’ve been chewing on something lately... it’s not like some massive crisis or anything, but I could really use a second opinion from you guys. For the first time ever, my cycle is running late. I’ve actually had the opposite issue in the past—back in high school, I was practically getting them every two weeks! Then things leveled out to a pretty steady 20 or 25 days, and for the last few months, it’s been sitting right at 28. It has never, ever gone over that mark before. But now? I’m already a week behind. My hormones have always been totally fine; every time I get checked, everything comes back perfect. So, what do you think—should I go ahead and schedule blood work for my hormone levels right away, or maybe look into something else entirely? Or should I just sit tight and wait a bit longer? Is it actually normal for things to be late once in a while? Could it just be stress, or maybe this crazy heat wave, or who knows what else? Should I be rushing to get a referral for the OBGYN or just go straight for the blood tests?

When did you start your period?

The cysts you have haven't ruptured yet. You've likely just thrown your system out of whack with the hormone pills; you might need to take a break to let things reset. It’s nothing major—nearly every second patient leaves a clinic with small 1-2 cm cysts that are easily managed with a 1-3 month course of treatment. That's all there is to it....
Of course, you need to find a competent gynecologist who actually knows what they're looking at, not some doctor working in a local public health clinic who just shrugs and says, "Yeah, there's a few cysts, they'll probably rupture during your next period." Well, they won't. That's what happens when doctors stop educating themselves after they finish med school.

Don't stress too much—the main thing is that you're paying attention to your health and not neglecting it. I'll second that.

Ciao🙂

Look, she could be late for a dozen different reasons, especially if her cycle isn't usually consistent to begin with. Regardless, you should definitely have her get blood work and hormone panels done; maybe the doctor will even prescribe birth control to help regulate everything. Just take her to a gynecologist—you don't need a referral from a primary care physician to see one!

Come on, don't start too. We've already had two separate threads dissecting this exact issue. She didn't even bother seeing a doctor despite having side effects—which is just more proof that you have to actually pay attention to your health and monitor how your body reacts to changes.

The girl didn't even bother seeing her doctor despite having side effects—which, honestly, just goes to show why you have to actually pay attention to your own body and track how you're feeling.

Look, every single prescription bottle out there carries a warning about blood clots or other chronic symptoms. It's right there in black and white. So... unfortunately, when you look at the statistics, someone is bound to be that one person who ends up suffering the worst-case scenario. It's just math. 😢

Does anyone else deal with intense headaches during their period? It’s been happening for the last few months now, and honestly, they are just brutal. I could barely make it through my shift at work today because it felt like my head was actually going to split open. I've been on Triquilar for about two years, and usually, my periods aren't painful—they only last three or four days and I haven't had any side effects from the birth control itself. My doctor says everything looks perfectly normal, too. I'm just sitting here wondering if there's some kind of connection between the two, or if I'm just losing my mind.

I remember sitting in health class back in high school and scrolling through endless medical forums online, and they always said the same thing: your period isn't supposed to be regular for those first couple of years after you start. But honestly? I’m five years into this, and my cycle is still acting totally wild, sometimes stretching out to a full 55 days. 😕

Amy Young12 said:So, I did my homework in school and spent way too much time falling down internet rabbit holes, and apparently, the whole consensus is that for the first couple of years after you get your period, things are just supposed to be irregular. You know, the "give it time" excuse. But honestly? Tell that to my body! Even after five years, my cycle is still acting like a total stranger, sometimes stretching out to a whopping 55 days. It’s beyond frustrating when what you read online doesn't actually match the chaos happening in real life. 😕

Honestly, people have been feeding me that same old line about things "getting better" for years now, and let me tell you—it’s a total load of crap. It never actually improves. They promise you the world, tell you everything is under control, and then you're just left sitting there waiting for a change that never comes. It’s infuriating! Seriously, don't just sit around taking their word for it. If I were you, I wouldn't wait around for some miracle; I'd go get an ultrasound right away just to see what's actually going on. Better safe than sorry, right?
