I’ve actually got an appointment with my OB-GYN next week... it's for something else entirely, but I was thinking it wouldn't hurt to bring this up while I'm there...

Oh, absolutely, you 100% need to mention it. Seriously. My ex-boyfriend—who was a doctor, by the way, so you'd think he'd get it—actually told me everything would just "balance itself out" even though I'd been dealing with heavy periods for like four or five years straight. He didn't take it half as seriously as he should have. Don't let them brush you off!😢

Hello.
I have a question regarding my current situation. My period is five days late. Naturally, I am concerned about a potential pregnancy, despite the fact that my boyfriend and I used condoms consistently and none failed; however, the anxiety persists regardless. Regarding my medication, I took Yasmin for about six months, stopped for one month, then resumed for a single pack, which resulted in a normal cycle, before stopping again. Now, my period has failed to arrive. I must reiterate that we used protection and nothing broke. Is it possible this delay is simply due to the irregular use of birth control? Additionally, I was recently on vacation at the coast, and three days ago, I experienced a traumatic event that felt quite life-threatening—that is my small attempt at finding perspective here. Could you perhaps offer some further reassurance? If my period does not arrive by Thursday, I intend to visit my gynecologist. Thank you.

Well... it might not have been the smartest move to give them such inconsistent doses. It’s basically the same kind of shock to the system. That could be exactly why you're feeling delayed right now.

Birth control pills and a missed period!!!!!!!!!!
I've been on Logest for about a year and a half now. My cycle has always been super predictable, but this time... nothing. ;( I already went to see my OB-GYN—she did an ultrasound and didn't see any sign of pregnancy, then ran a Pap smear which just showed a little bit of bacteria and some minor yeast issues... nothing major, so I'm just clearing that up with some vaginal suppositories....
Is it actually possible for a period to just skip like that out of nowhere? And could it be that a pregnancy is just too early to show up on an ultrasound?

p.s. I stopped taking the pills on my doctor's advice until I get my results back

You’re holding a red card right now because you're clearly confused. While you've got it, do me a favor and actually read the section marked 'MANDATORY'—it's essential reading for everyone using this PDF.

Much appreciated.

Thanks anyway.

Why the red card? It's not like she started a whole new thread—the rules HERE specifically say red cards are for certain things, but she just had a question about her period🤷
—basically asking if it's possible for a period to just skip a month entirely. Sure, she mentioned birth control, but that was directly tied to her symptoms in the same post. A yellow card or just a warning would've been plenty—jumping straight to a red card seems overkill.

She was asking if it's possible for a period to just skip entirely. Sure, she mentioned birth control pills, but they were directly related to her main concern. A yellow card or a simple warning would have been plenty, rather than jumping straight to a red.

The topic was open, but I merged them because she opened two separate threads instead of just one, and did it all within a few hours on the same day.☕
Lucky for you, you don't see half of what goes on behind the scenes, otherwise we moderators wouldn't look like such total villains.
When she posted the first time, > handled it professionally by merging it without making a scene. But when she made the exact same mistake again later that same day... how much grace am I supposed to give?
If you take a look at her profile, you'll see that two of her identical posts have already been merged into existing threads.🙂

Luckily for you guys, you don't see half of what we deal with—so I guess that's why we mods end up looking like the bad guys in your eyes.
Suey handled the first topic with class—no unnecessary drama, just kept it smooth. But when she made that exact same mistake again later that same day... honestly, how long are you supposed to play nice?
If you check out her profile, you'll see she actually merged two identical posts into existing threads.🙂

It usually says: transferred bla bla...

My apologies. 🙏 Alright, enough with the off-topic chatter. Let's get back to business.

Lalalalala, maybe Aaron Garcia36 should get a strike now since they're being off-topic, lalala.😛(Not that I doubt it'll happen to me eventually.)😢

There is a massive difference between answering a woman's legitimate question and simply being argumentative, isn't there? I don't see why you'd get a penalty for a little bit of banter—provided, of course, it doesn't become a regular habit.

I’m cultured enough to admit when I’ve messed up and offer an apology! The reality is, I’m pretty new here—I actually just signed up specifically because of this one question—but what can you do... Anyway, the comments triggered by your red card don't even touch upon the actual topic, which feels a bit odd to me, considering how strictly this forum usually enforces its rules.

Hey there.
I have a question. I had sex for the first time yesterday, just a day before my period was supposed to start today. This morning, I noticed a tiny bit of spotting, but nothing else since. I guess you might wonder if that's actually normal?

Is this even normal?
Did it hurt? Did your hymen tear? Of course there’s going to be some bleeding.

And you don't always get your period on the exact same day every month.

I guess I’m a little worried because I was supposed to get my period today, but nothing has happened yet. There was some light cramping, so we stopped for a bit, then started again. It shouldn't matter if it didn't show up today, right? At least that's what I'm telling myself.

Yeah, don't sweat it, you'll get it in a day or two. It’s not like you always get everything handed to you on a silver platter anyway.

I’ve got a question too🙂

My cycle usually runs about 7 to 12 days late, which I’ve always just accepted as my "normal." But right before my last period, I moved to a new city and had to deal with a totally different climate—and man, that really threw me for a loop. My last period actually showed up on the exact same day as the one before it, which was weird. Now, this current one is already two weeks overdue.

I feel super bloated and I'm dealing with these dull aches in my lower abdomen, but there’s still no sign of anything happening.😕

Does anyone have an explanation for this?🙂

Look, if you're "late by 7 to 12 days," that just means your cycle is actually 35 days long instead of 28. If it shows up every 35 days, it isn't late, it's just your rhythm.
Plus, those kinds of gaps are exactly why people say your cycle is irregular.
How old are you anyway?
edit Have you actually seen an OB-GYN about this? It’s not great if you're CONSTANTLY dealing with irregularity.

I get that weather changes, moving to a new city, or stress can mess with things—that happens to everyone. But if it's happening month after month, you really should get checked out just to make sure everything is clear down there.

Carol Harris64 said:Look, if you're saying it’s "late by 7 to 12 days," that implies your typical cycle is actually closer to 35 days rather than the standard 28. If it shows up every 35 days, then technically, it isn't late at all.
Plus, those kinds of fluctuations suggest things might be a bit inconsistent.
By the way, how old are you?
edit, have you checked in with an OB-GYN about this yet? It’s probably not ideal if it stays consistently irregular.

Changes in weather, moving to a new city, stress—that kind of stuff can mess with anyone. But if it's erratic month after month, it’s worth getting a checkup just to make sure everything is clear and healthy.

I actually went to see my doctor about three weeks ago and everything seemed fine, but my period is still running late... my doctor didn't seem particularly worried about the delay.🤷

Edit: I'm 20 years old.🙂
