Hannah Bishop said:okay,, so I got a 5.2,, which feels super light,, and honestly, it's pretty weak! could this be because of the birth control?? since I stopped taking them,, everything changed... while I was on them,, my periods were always heavy! and now this one showed up around day 22 of my cycle,, it's the first one I've had since I quit the pills!

That’s 100% due to the hormones messing with your system. It throws everything out of whack. Your next one might even show up late, so don't freak out too much....

Honestly, I was starting to think I was just losing my mind from all these meds! Thanks for pointing that out!

I'm feeling a bit torn...
So, my period is scheduled to show up right when I really don't want it to this month...
It’s not an absolute emergency or anything, but I would love to push it back just a couple of days—specifically two!
Here’s the thing... I take Yasmin, and the instructions make it sound so simple—they basically say if you want to delay your period, just skip the break and start the next pack immediately. And if you actually *want* your period to start, you just stop taking the pills.
Does that mean instead of taking my usual week off, I’d just grab three pills from the new pack to bridge the gap, and then take my seven-day break after that???
The manual makes it sound so casual! But honestly, it's not that simple for me. We're talking about my body and hormones and all that stuff...
I’m a little nervous about messing anything up. Everything has been totally fine and regular so far, and ever since I started these, I haven't had those awful cramps I used to deal with every single month—back before the pills, I was practically living on three different types of heavy-duty painkillers every day during the first two days of my cycle.

Has anyone here actually tried delaying their period before?
Please, I could really use some advice or even just some reassurance...
🙂
Best!

So, that’s hormonal contraception... and you really shouldn't mess around with it. I was on Windows 4 for about 4 or 5 years. To be fair, I never actually wanted to skip my period, but the instructions are spot on—you just keep taking the pills from the next pack, stop whenever you want, and take a 7-day break like usual. Then you just start a new 21-pill pack and carry on as normal.

But honestly, if you're feeling nervous about it, why even go through with it? Is it absolutely necessary? There are always tampons. Plus, when you're on the pill, periods are usually lighter, so tampons work perfectly fine.

So... I’m supposed to start a new pack without any break... three days on, seven days off... and then back to a new box? But how am I even supposed to pick up a new prescription at the CVS when they log every single purchase date and the pharmacist keeps a strict eye on it to make sure a full month has actually passed? :)
And goodness, can it please be less intense... it’s flowing like a literal waterfall, haha... plus, I can't even rely on a tampon for those first three days... because within fifteen minutes, I'd have to swap out even the biggest one I own!?

Once you finish this box, move straight onto the next one without any breaks, then take a seven-day hiatus. If you just keep going from one pack to the next, you'll effectively solve the issue of delaying your period, allowing you to simply pick up another box in a month.

I ended up pushing it back an entire month just because it was the path of least resistance, though honestly, if you aren't particularly bothered by the timing—it was a close friend's wedding for me—then there is no reason to stress over it. I was an absolute nightmare, constantly tearful and incredibly irritable... truly awful. I found myself counting down the days until my period finally arrived.

I was being a complete nightmare—crying over everything, totally irritable, just awful... I was literally counting down the minutes until my period finally showed up.

This is the absolute truth. I did it once and it completely threw my hormones out of whack; you basically go insane. So, it's probably better to skip it... but hey, it's your call. Nothing catastrophic is going to happen, but you might actually end up feeling worse because those hormone shifts will absolutely wreck you.😲uf...

But honestly, if it isn't that big of a deal to you—it wasn't like I was missing a major milestone or anything, just a friend's wedding—then don't worry about it. I was being absolutely impossible. Between the crying fits and the irritability, I was a total nightmare... I was seriously counting down the days until my period finally arrived.

Olivia Rivera77 said:Look, this is the honest truth: I’ve been down that road myself, and let me tell you, it completely wrecks your hormone balance. You end up feeling like you're losing your mind. At the end of the day, it's your call—nothing catastrophic is going to happen—but honestly, it might just make things worse for you. When those hormones are out of whack, they really take a toll on your system.😲Sigh...

I’m in! Count me in.

I went through the exact same thing. I ended up going through two boxes in a row, and I was on the verge of a total nervous breakdown for an entire month. I was stuck in a state of constant, intense PMS the whole time. 😱

So, if it isn't absolutely necessary, I’d suggest you just skip it.

Maria Rodriguez20 said:That’s exactly what happened to me. Especially this month. Now I’ve got those cramps back like my period is right around the corner.

I actually asked my doctor about it, and she told me it was just ovulation. My period finally showed up 31 days after my last pill... honestly, the pain was unreal.

Ugh, okay, so here’s the deal—my period was super late last month, which honestly had me spiraling. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative, then I went in for an ultrasound about five weeks after a risky encounter, but they couldn't see anything at all. To make matters worse, I felt absolutely wiped out for a few days straight. My OB-GYN prescribed some progesterone, but I actually only ended up taking one pill because, honestly, I just wanted my body to do its own thing without jumping straight to hormones and all that. I figured my period would show up within the week, but now I’m on day two of this light spotting—you know, just seeing a little blood when I wipe and stuff. The problem is, I totally panicked last week and took another test, and yet again, it came back negative. I’m seriously considering heading back to the doctor's office. I mean, I've never really dealt with this kind of mid-cycle discharge before 🤷

Hey ladies...
I went to my OB-GYN today because I've missed my period for three weeks now. Turns out it's PCOS. She put me on Utrogestan—three times a day for the next eight days, then twice a day on certain days of my cycle later on. I forgot to ask her, though... does the period actually start on the ninth day, or does it happen during those eight days? Or what?
Thanks.

I need some answers here. This whole situation is starting to get under my skin to the point where I can’t even function properly. I'm becoming terrible company, and honestly, my entire body aches. Is there any way to trigger the process, or maybe just speed things up a bit?
My apologies if this needs to be moved to another sub; I just wanted to make sure it didn't get buried.

Why do my labia hurt during my period? It’s this literal sensation like they’re about to just fall onto the floor—like something is physically pulling them downward. That's the feeling.
Terrible. As far back as I can remember, this wasn't always an issue, but now it's become a regular occurrence.

It’s possible your cycle hasn't quite found its equilibrium yet, as that particular process can sometimes take years to truly stabilize...

That's awful. As far as I can remember, it wasn't always like this, but now it happens every single time.

I get that pain too. It feels like someone actually punched me, like there's an injury there. I've wondered why myself, but I haven't really brought it up to anyone until now.😕🤷

Let me throw a question out there. I had my gynecologist appointment about four days ago for a checkup and an ultrasound. Everything came back totally normal. Then, two days ago, my period started. It was just those tiny little clots mixed with blood, which is pretty typical for me, but the flow itself was incredibly light. On the first day, it was barely there. In fact, when I got up that first morning, I didn't even feel like I needed to change my pad.🙄Then the next day, it’s back to those tiny clots, only when I go to the bathroom. They cleared up late yesterday afternoon. Today is day three of my period and still nothing.😕Just to be clear, I usually don't have much to say, but this is actually a record for me.😁Over the last two days, my flow has been pretty light. I went through five pads, and honestly, they weren't even full.🤷Which kid are we talking about?😕Why does all this stuff happen when my labs were perfectly fine just four days ago?

On the first day, the flow was so weak that when I got up in the morning, I didn't even feel like I needed to change my pad.🙄Then the second day, it was just those small clots whenever I went to the bathroom, and by late afternoon, it just stopped. Now it's the third day and nothing.😕I should mention that my periods are usually short, but this is definitely a record.😁In these two days, even though the flow was barely there, I went through five pads, and they weren't even full.🤷What kind of mystery is this?😕Why does a period act like this when the ultrasound was perfectly normal just four days ago?

My period once lasted only two days, even though it's usually four. During those two days, I could barely get out of bed because the bleeding was so heavy and full of clots—but then again, that’s my usual deal. By the third and fourth day, all I had was this clear, yellowish discharge. Does anyone know if showering or washing your hair too much during your period actually matters, or is that just old wives' tales? Also, I've dealt with intense ovarian pain both before and after my cycle; normally it's fine, but now the cramping hasn't let up. I have no idea what it is, but it just won't stop squeezing.
