Does anyone have a good recommendation for a private specialist who handles diabetes? I’m actually a little embarrassed to ask, but I’m honestly not sure if I should be looking for an internist or if there's a specific specialist I ought to be seeing instead... Any advice would be so appreciated!

So, I recently made the move over to Newark, and honestly, getting settled in a new city is always such a whirlwind of paperwork and logistics. Since I'm still trying to get my bearings here, I was wondering if anyone could point me toward a solid general practitioner or perhaps a reliable dentist? Ideally, I’d love to find a private practice that still accepts Medicare to keep things simple.

Thanks in advance for any leads you can throw my way.

Can someone please be polite and actually answer me? 😉

Does anyone have an orthodontist recommendation, ideally in Seattle or San Diego??? If it's an issue to post here, just shoot me a DM 😛

Can someone please be a decent human being and actually answer me? I keep scrolling through this thread, but I’m finding absolutely zero useful recommendations for orthodontists in the cities where I actually live...

I know there are plenty of good options in Washington, D.C., but what I really need is someone in Seattle or San Diego... There are hardly any specialists in San Diego at all. Does anyone have any insight on Dr. Merlo in San Diego?

Over in Seattle, I heard a recommendation for Dr. Zaverski
What's the verdict? Please send more suggestions my way 🙂

Regarding what’s happening over in Seattle—I just caught some really solid intel about Dr. Perkovič, but things aren't looking too great for Zaverski št.

Hey everyone!

Can anyone point me toward a solid gynecologist in San Francisco who specializes in endocrinology? Doesn't matter if it's private practice or covered by Medicare...

Thanks

I was thinking about scheduling an appointment at San Francisco with a specific doctor. I’m just a little unsure if I would need a referral from my primary physician or if I could just pay out of pocket. 😕Does anyone have any insight on this?

Hey everyone,

I urgently need a solid GP in Washington, D.C., ideally somewhere downtown. Like, someone actually decent?

Also, I’m looking for a gynecologist—someone who takes Blue Cross Blue Shield or similar insurance—who isn't a total nightmare to deal with.

There's a possible pregnancy on the table here, so things are getting pretty frantic. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know if there’s a clinic over in the Vrbnik area? The folks at the health center near Capitol Hill told me one exists, but they couldn't give me a specific address. I've been scouring the web but am coming up empty. If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be awesome!

So, I'm wondering if anyone here has been to this clinic. Does anyone know what kind of services they offer, or what the typical cost is for a consultation and knee surgery?
I heard that one of the top orthopedic surgeons in the country, Dr. Nemec, practices there, so I was curious if anyone has firsthand experience with this facility.😕

Hey there!
I haven't seen the doctor myself, but a close friend of mine just had knee surgery there five days ago, and it cost her about $2.25. She was able to head home the very next day, and she tells me everything is going great.
Also, a buddy of mine had hip surgery at the same place. He stayed for a week and couldn't stop raving about the doctor—not just the surgery itself, but the whole staff too. Honestly, the food was amazing, and don't even get me started on how nice the accommodations were.
As for him, I think he paid around $12.
Just keep in mind, the price really depends on the specific procedure, so Dr. Nemec will have to give you a quote based on what's needed.
Those are just the experiences I know regarding Dr. Nemec, but I'm sure someone else might jump in here to share their own story.
I'm assuming we're talking about the same Dr. Nemec who's based out near Matthews, close to Palm Springs.

I assume we're talking about the same doctor at his clinic in Matthews!👍

Thanks for getting back to me.🙏 I was actually wondering about what you said regarding your friend having knee surgery and going home the same day. It sounds like the laparoscopic procedure I have coming up myself 🙄, but I was surprised to hear how quick the surgery $2.25 since there’s a clinic in Brooklyn that performs that exact same operation $3.00, which caught my attention immediately.
Do you think you could ask your friend how much a single consultation costs at the clinic? I'd be willing to make the trip if needed; I really need a third opinion ASAP because every doctor I've talked to so far seems to have a completely different take on my situation.🤷

I'd be happy to! I'll check on all those details tomorrow and let you know. I'll get you the full breakdown of prices for the consultations and the surgery itself.

I’m looking for some recommendations for a decent GP in Brooklyn, specifically at the community clinic near the park. It doesn’t need to be world-class; I just need someone who actually knows what they’re doing. For anything serious, I’ll just head to a private specialist anyway. 🙄

I don't make trips to the doctor very often, but since moving, I just picked someone off a list and it’s been a disaster. The previous doctor isn't even there anymore; she's been replaced by this rookie who acts like she’s already a Chief of Medicine just because she finally got her degree. She’s incredibly condescending and completely clueless. She spends the whole appointment flipping through textbooks for every minor thing a patient mentions, only to "confirm" exactly what I already told her—all without even bothering to actually examine me. It’s unbelievable.

I urgently need a competent primary care physician. Please help. 😢

So,

I moved to San Diego almost seven months ago now. Right from the jump, I’ve been trying to get some clarity on local general practitioners, dentists... and all I ever get are these incredibly vague responses—you know, things like "just ask around" or "you'll figure it out eventually." GOOD GRIEF... I *am* asking! 🙄

Honestly, it would be a huge relief if my husband and I could actually settle on a doctor before we end up sick and stuck scrambling at the last minute.

So, I’d really appreciate any recommendations you might have for a GP, a dentist, and a gynecologist.

Regarding the GP—I’m not looking for anything hyper-specialized right now; I just want someone who is actually a decent human being. My last doctor was something else entirely—she’d practically mock me for even showing up, only for me to wind up in the ER two days later.

Thanks so much in advance to everyone! 🙂

Guys, help me out here;
Does anyone know a good private dermatologist in Seattle?
My mom was at the hospital seeing a specialist and the doctor told her she has skin cancer, then basically just ordered her to come back in a week to have it removed. Honestly, the doctor had zero bedside manner—it was a total disaster. I want to get my mom in to see someone privately just for a second opinion and some peace of mind, because right now the whole family is freaking out.

I'm on the lookout for a private dermatologist in a place like Austin. Honestly, I don't even care if they just give me their cell number... Thanks!

I rarely visit the doctor, but since moving, I picked a physician at random from the directory and have been thoroughly unimpressed. To make matters worse, my current doctor isn't even there anymore; she's being replaced by someone who seems to think graduating med school overnight makes her an expert. She's incredibly condescending and clearly lacks experience. She spends the entire appointment flipping through textbooks for every minor thing I mention, only to confirm what I already knew without even bothering to actually examine me. It's exhausting.

I urgently need a decent general practitioner. Any leads would be appreciated. 😢
