I’m honestly not even sure if this is the right sub to be posting in, but I’m hoping it is 🙂
So, here's the deal—does anyone know where I can find actual medical pedicure services in Chicago?
I originally booked an appointment with a standard nail tech, but then I totally second-guessed myself. I heard that if you go to someone who isn't properly trained, they can actually make things way worse—and I am dealing with an ingrown nail that hurts absolutely RIDICULOUSLY. It’s gotten to the point where I can’t wear any normal shoes at all; I’m literally stuck walking around in oversized sneakers just to get through the day! 😢
Anyway, please let me know if you have any leads, because I haven't been able to find anything decent yet 😢

I’ve heard there’s a clinic called Light in Washington, D.C. What other clinics are operating in the area? I want to dig into their service offerings and see how they actually run things.

I also heard about a solid eye clinic over in Vienna, but I’m not sure if they perform surgeries on-site or if they just do the initial exams before sending patients to Vienna for the actual procedure. Does anyone know the name of that specific Viennese eye clinic?

There’s also this clinic called Quest Diagnostics in Washington, D.C., that handles laser vision correction. It's right over by Capitol Hill on Broadway. I haven't actually been there myself, so I can't really tell you what the experience is like firsthand. Maybe just check out their website? It seems pretty thorough.

Michelle Chase3 said:I actually see Nemet Krznarić—she is absolutely wonderful, truly my ideal physician—so calm, so thorough, and she always takes the time to explain every little detail you might be curious about.
Some acquaintances have voiced complaints regarding her nurse, but personally, I’ve never had a single issue with her; in fact, she’s quite lovely and has been incredibly accommodating to me on several spontaneous occasions.

I went by to try and book an appointment with that doctor, but she wasn't in, and the nurse told me she was accepting patients—just to come back in a few days when the doctor is available. Well, when I returned, the nurse gave me this fake, polite brush-off and acted completely clueless. It seems like they aren't exactly eager to take on new patients anymore.

I was wondering if anyone could offer recommendations for a primary care physician within the same medical group—specifically near the clinic on Broadway. It could be in the suburbs or just generally in West Washington, D.C., or even downtown.
Also, I’ve made a list of names of some doctors from the Broadway location, and I’m curious if anyone has any notable experiences with them? I really don't want to go in blindly. So, we have Kozar Maras, Vukasovic, Swigir, Martinovic, and Djuricic. I only looked at the offices on the ground floor to the right, though I'm not sure if there are others elsewhere.
Thank you! 🙂

I'm looking for someone who does medical pedicures in New York City.
I almost booked a regular nail tech, but I changed my mind after hearing how amateurs can actually make things worse. It's an ingrown nail and the pain is unreal—I can't even wear normal shoes anymore. I'm stuck walking around in baggy sneakers just to cope! 😢
So please, if anyone knows a spot, let me know. I haven't had any luck finding one yet. 😢

Check out over in Brooklyn. I haven't personally been there, but I've heard they specialize specifically in medical foot care.

Unfortunately, because my health has been such a complete wreck lately, I’ve ended up building quite the "collection" of doctors—all of whom are absolutely top-tier. So, if anyone is looking for a solid recommendation, feel free to pick my brain. My little medical roster includes a GP, a dentist, a gynecologist, a neurologist, an endocrinologist, a urologist, a psychotherapist, and a psychiatrist. Most of them are based right here in NYC, though my gynecologist is over at Mount Sinai and my urologist is down in Chicago.
If there is any way I can be of service, I’d be more than happy to help. :-)

Has anyone in New York City ever gone private for a carotid Doppler scan because of some neurological issues?
I’m basically hunting for a clinic where the price tag isn't absolutely insane for that kind of thing...

Or maybe if someone knows a hospital that doesn't have a massive backlog where you end up waiting for months on end... (I tried booking through the Mayo Clinic - Central Park, but they told me I'd be waiting until October...)

Well, I personally went to the clinic on Crncecevo to see Kresimir Cavka (price list). To be fair, it wasn't for a carotid Doppler, but an abdominal ultrasound—though they do have the Doppler listed in their services. You should check out their rates and compare. Regarding the abdominal ultrasound, I don't know my way around much of Chicago, so I did quite a bit of searching, and he seemed to be among the most reasonably priced options. It is a little bit odd getting there, though—you actually have to walk through a courtyard and go through these funny-looking old doors—but the main thing is that they do a thorough job. 😉 I'm not entirely sure what kind of equipment they use—I don't really follow that sort of thing and didn't bother asking—but regardless of the tech, perhaps the small consolation is that the lead doctor is a Chief Physician. He seems very decent and actually takes the time to talk to you. Otherwise, they do take patients with insurance referrals, but if you use a referral, the wait times are longer. I suggest calling them first, mentioning you have a referral for a specific test, and asking how long the wait is. If that sounds too long, then just book it privately. For my ultrasound (without a referral), I only waited about one or two days, if I recall correctly. Good luck! 🙂

(And yes, I am still accepting compliments regarding general practitioners in Chicago who are taking new patients and are located in the West Side or Downtown—preferably near Runjaninova. Thank you! 😁)

Thanks!
I tried calling, but they’re fully booked through July if you're using an insurance referral, and apparently, they're moving locations too...
I did find a few other places like Pfizer and UnitedHealth Group, so I'll give them a ring and see if they might take my referral...

I had a nasty fall last week and ended up snapping off pieces of both my front teeth. Does anyone know a decent dentist who specializes in tooth reconstructions? I was reading about this technique in a medical journal where they use a specialized paste to bond onto the remaining tooth structure, but honestly, how sturdy is that actually going to be? Or am I looking at full crowns or even implants as my only real options?
Please, I need some help here! This is getting urgent, and from an aesthetic standpoint, it's a total disaster. 😢(....

Maybe you should try posting this question in the dental advice thread instead? That way, you might actually get some useful tips from a dentist who can tell you what the best move is for your specific situation. As for me, I ended up getting three crowns—all of them done late last year during the fall and winter. Mine are on both of my lower sixes and one of my upper fives.

Can anyone recommend a private nephrology clinic in Chicago? I also need to get a urine culture done, so if someone could point me toward a lab near Vrbik, that would be awesome!

Terry Howard said:So, I feel compelled to share this with everyone. Essentially, during my recent mole checkup over at Central Park, the doctor advised me to schedule a dermatoscopy for sometime this spring and provided a specific number to call for an appointment. Here is how the scheduling process unfolded:

Good day to you!
Good day to you!
I would like to schedule an appointment for a dermoscopy.
Look, does anyone else realize what time it actually is right now?
Me: 3:10 PM. Why?
Does anyone here actually know what our working hours are supposed to be?!
And where exactly might I find that available for reading?
Excuse me, but has anyone actually seen an outpatient clinic operating after 3:00 PM? I’m genuinely asking. Where on earth is this supposed to be happening?
Alright, when should I give them a call then?
In my opinion, it’s best to get this done before 1:00 PM.
Thank you very much, and goodbye.

Good day to you!
Good day to you!
I would like to schedule an appointment for a dermatoscopy.
I am terribly sorry, but we won't be accepting any new orders until January 28th. Please do give us a call once that date arrives.
Thank you very much, and farewell.

And now, because I simply cannot find any peace of mind, I have decided to compose yet another call to action.

Good day to you!
Good day to you!
I would like to schedule an appointment for a dermatoscopy.
I regret to inform you that we can no longer accept orders over the phone. It is now mandatory to place your order in person. If possible, I would suggest coming by this Monday.
Hold on—are you actually telling me that I have to show up in person just to schedule an appointment that isn't even happening for several months?
Listen, I just heard some news that might be a bit of a headache for anyone looking for medical care: apparently, if you want to schedule your very first appointment, you actually have to show up in person. There’s no remote booking for the initial consultation—you have to physically be there. Just something to keep in mind so you don't waste your time trying to call ahead.
Thank you very much, and goodbye.

I mean, honestly, who among us is actually losing their mind here? If I decide to give them a call next week, what kind of response am I even expecting to face?
Has anyone else dealt with something similar? Also, does anyone happen to know where else in the city I can get a dermatoscopy done?

This needs to be front-page news! It's absolutely appalling!
I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you!
Greetings.

Timothy Murphy5 said:So, here's the thing... I was wondering if anyone has actually seen Dr. Solomon (over on Marulić Square) for a consultation? What were your impressions, specifically regarding how satisfied or dissatisfied you felt with the experience? 🙂
Basically, I'm on the hunt for a gastroenterologist, so I figured I'd ask...🤔

urbanranger4 said:Personally, I'm looking for a solid private gastroenterologist in Chicago.
Does anyone have any insight on Dr. Solomon (Marulić Square)?
My main priority is finding someone highly skilled and thorough; though, naturally, being approachable and polite is a significant plus.
Thanks!

I saw Dr. Solomon myself, though it was quite some time ago. I can offer my highest recommendation—nothing but the best from him.

Hey there
I had a truly terrible experience recently—basically,
this dental office—Natasha Kurtovic, located at 4 Jerome Mise St in Suburban City—was just awful.
I spent two months trying to get a hold of her, and when I finally did, she gave me an appointment I’d been waiting a month for. I show up, and what do you know? She's nowhere to be found. Doors locked, calling her cell does nothing. Apparently, people say this is her regular routine... then I actually see the doctor, and she just starts snapping at me—horribly aggressive and incredibly full of herself. You can't even have a conversation with her. Honestly, I was too intimidated to even let her touch my teeth; after that lecture, she hadn't even started yet.
It's such a shame—last week I went through Medicare and chose her, but now I'll be looking to switch providers immediately.
It's just a horrible feeling. I don't talk to anyone like that, so how can a dentist act like that with patients? It's just wrong. 😢

Please, if anyone knows a good private clinic where I can get my hip scanned, let me know. You can also just DM me.
I went to the local health clinic today with a referral, and the lady there basically blew me off and told me I have to wait a whole month for an appointment.

Does anyone know a good dentist in the area (maybe around the Black Rock neighborhood if there's someone nearby)? 😍 I'm also hoping they aren't too expensive. 🤷
I have to head in today to get a molar fixed; I noticed some decay on my lower tooth and it’s started to ache a little bit.
Best wishes to everyone! 😍

I'm moving over to the Suburban City area, so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a great pediatrician at the Local Health Clinic there?

We've had a really good experience with Dr. Ivanovic.
