Oh, please. Anyone who actually manages to pull something off isn't out here bragging about it. The only people making a big deal out of their intentions are the ones subconsciously begging you not to stop them, essentially praying for someone to intervene.
It’s just like when someone says, "I'm going to end it all tomorrow." Give me a break! People who actually have the drive to do something just stay quiet and get it done.
So, seriously—let's move on to something more intelligent and stop wasting time with this nonsense!

btw, it all really comes down to what the guy actually decided to experiment with. If he’s going to do mushrooms, then let him eat them. If he wants to smoke weed, fine, let him smoke. If he feels like taking a Bon enough to get high, whatever. But honestly, just picking up some coke or something even nastier out of pure boredom? That’s just... stupid, isn't it? 😁

lonelynx44 said:Man, you absolutely crushed this—total legend status. 🙂 lol... absolute gold. 😂 What a joke—half a comment and a laugh. Honestly, I can't even be surprised anymore... hehe! 😛

I mean, honestly, it’s all just whatever—whatever, man, if someone wants to go there, that's their business. I think anyone who's ever messed around with drugs knows they can absolutely wreck your life, and if you're the type prone to that kind of stuff... well, what do I care? Should I really lose sleep over whether some random stranger ends up killing themselves—be it through drugs or a gun? Not my problem.

So, what that lady was saying—about how if you try it on a Saturday, you'll be doing it every Sunday, then back to Saturday, until you're basically an addict? Yeah, that’s total nonsense. It’s pretty obvious she’s just some older woman with a massive bias against drugs (or maybe she's younger, honestly who cares, she's biased regardless)—lol. But look, I know myself—and I know plenty of others—I'll light up a joint here and there, but nothing about it forces me into a lifelong addiction where I couldn't quit if I wanted to. I wouldn't even miss it—not like I haven't been clean for a few months anyway—but if the opportunity comes up, why not? And honestly, drugs don't really pull me in like that, except for the one mentioned... so now someone's gonna call me a junkie because of that? Just because I tried it once, I'm a lost cause? Like that politician once claimed—that if you light up just ONE joint, you'll never be able to quit! Heh, talk about being clueless... (just like that lady, lol). Peace to you, lady—I'm not trying to be mean, just calling it like I see it. 😘

😕
Is it really just "here and there" once or...?
You're basically shoving it down your own throat👍

So what exactly is addiction to you? Is it needing something constantly just to function? How much "here and there" does it take before you're hooked? No, seriously, explain it to me, I'm clearly not an expert on this stuff...😕

Saying 'I tried it once' is basically saying 'it's not for me'... edit: if someone tries it once, they're immediately labeled a junkie... bad wording, my bad... but my 'occasional' might be 2 or 3 days in a row (rarely), and other times it's nothing for months... whenever the mood strikes. Just saying it doesn't hit you with addiction instantly... to me, addiction is when someone takes something constantly, even if there are breaks, right?? Like, if someone gets trashed every year for, I don't know, Thanksgiving and Christmas, they aren't an alcoholic—I feel the same way about drugs (no matter how nasty they are). If nobody's looking for you for months at a time, then maybe you don't need to be looked for for the rest of your life... works for booze, cigarettes, and drugs... though I wouldn't know about gambling, since I don't actually know any gamblers... but hey, who knows... (just my thoughts, not facts)

And how much 'occasional' does it take to get hooked? Honestly, I have no clue, because everyone's different—body chemistry, mindset, whatever... some people get hooked after one go, while others can quit cold turkey even if they were using daily, or whateva... look at my old man, he smoked a pack or two a day, then just decided one day he was done, and he was done... didn't make him an addict. I think the most important thing before you mess with this stuff is knowing yourself—and I mean really knowing yourself... for example, I know I don't need to smoke weed all the time, which keeps me from being a 'junkie,' but I know myself well enough to know that if I tried something harder, like LSD or heroin, I'd probably get hooked... so it doesn't appeal to me at all. Which just goes to show I know myself (mostly) well enough...

good enough?!?!

Keith James812 said:Nicotine isn't good either, and I don't see any reason why anyone would advise a minor to start smoking... comparing coffee to heroin makes zero sense, so I think we've exhausted those parallels.

The real problem is that your ten little friends can't even step up and explain to a kid that life isn't all sunshine and rainbows, especially since those of us who never touched drugs have nothing to say about it. 🙏

I'm glad you're doing well, healthy and wealthy... honestly, I am, because you're a decent guy. But I feel that same empathy that makes me wish no kid would ever start using drugs in the first place. Your argument that "you can't attack drugs, and I don't care about the kid because everyone manages their own life" is just garbage. You'd say the exact same thing to someone trying to share knowledge or experience about anything that might lead a young person down a bad path. So, your "insider" knowledge of drugs doesn't interest me at all; I'm just fascinated by how little you seem to care about anyone other than yourself.

Look, people who have never even wanted drugs should be the ones giving advice. If someone decides to go down that path, a post on a forum isn't going to stop them, but you can at least suggest a way to handle it when the time comes. 🙂

Your other post is idiotic. If my friends had the kind of experience I have now fifteen years ago, and if they could have learned it from me back then, maybe—just maybe—they wouldn't be six feet under right now.

I'm not looking to push anyone toward drugs. Drugs aren't for everyone, even though anyone *can* use them. Just because anyone can train in MMA doesn't mean they'll become a Fedor Emelianenko or a Mirko Cro Cop. Similarly, some people can use drugs heavily for 15 years like I did and come out the other side feeling almost new. I won't pretend it didn't take a toll; my body is trashed from extreme use, but I got lucky with my genetics. My system handled it, and since I stayed active with sports while I was using (weird as that sounds), the training helped balance things out.

If I could judge someone before they ever tried anything, then maybe I could offer suggestions. But I'm definitely not an opponent of drugs, purely based on my own experience. If I were born again and given a choice, I'd do it all over again. I'm not an addict; I'm a drug lover. And to be a drug lover, you need a genetic predisposition. I know people who waited five or six years before touching heroin, yet they ended up having worse withdrawals than I ever did.

Everything I write on this forum is strictly for education. I'm 100% sure that 99% of the anonymous people here wouldn't dare write what I write. So, even if nobody gives a damn about what I have to say, I'll keep posting on this forum (I used to have a blog about it too). I'll always be here to help someone or share what I've been through.

I'm not against drugs, but I'm also not saying they're for everyone.

dustypilot22 said:These three rare comments are particularly interesting to me.

I honestly can't wrap my head around how someone who has been through the hell of drug use can feel happy or even proud of having done it—or even happier about successfully quitting. There seems to be such a deep need to glorify the high and one's drugged states.

It especially stands out to me when they claim they felt great and "really lived" while under the influence.

The truth is, you might just be experiencing an ILLUSION (which is usually just a side effect of the drugs) that life is good.

From an outside perspective, with a clear mind, a user is perhaps the most pathetic creature on earth.

Two snapshots come to mind:

-I'll never forget my friend Top while we were sitting there buzzed in front of a record store, and one guy ends up in a semi-coma. Friends are crowding around him, trying to call him back to reality. But Top, looking totally wasted himself and having plenty of experience, just shouts to them:
"Just leave him alone. You have no idea how good he feels right now."

-Last night at Times Square, two guys are sitting near me, completely out of it. One is watching tourists and tour guides, lamenting how much he'd love to do that job since his English is native-level, before pivoting to talk about how the first floor of St. Patrick was the hardest part to build and everything else was easy. The other guy spends the whole time texting, occasionally swallowing saliva that keeps leaking from his half-open mouth.

Tomorrow, they'll tell everyone what a great time they had. 😁

And how much they "lived" while they were using. Especially if they manage to get clean.

Wait, what do you think people do drugs for? Because it's bad? Please. If you know what you're doing, being high is the big leagues.

I'm not going to bother commenting further after seeing your post. Just tell me what your actual experience with drugs has been, then maybe we can talk. There's no point debating someone whose arguments are built entirely on assumptions. That's like trying to debate a political science professor about how much I care about the exchange rate in Trinidad and Tobago.

Keith James812 said:He’s not a punk, actually... he grew up in San Francisco back when this city was basically synonymous with drugs, so he knows exactly what he’s talking about. Out of five family houses in my old neighborhood, two have sons who are addicts—supposedly they’re "clean" now, but whatever, they’re useless. They can't hold down a real job to save their lives unless they're pushing product. Three houses down, one girl managed to escape and get married; she works here and there now, but she picked up Hepatitis C along the way, which I guess in the euphoric world of junkies just counts as "moving on." In my old elementary school class, three kids went down the drain. One girl—who used to be an honors student studying vet med—I saw her last summer working under the table selling sandwiches at a fast-food joint; she’s barely eighty pounds and had the misfortune of not having wealthy parents, so I can only imagine how she ended up on drugs. The second guy is gone, dead, and the third one "works construction in Italy," which really means he showed up after a near-death overdose. High school? It’s the same stories over and over. I won't even list the kids from the neighboring classes; they just fall under the "anonymous locals" category. My cousin was a great kid, a bit high-strung, right? His parents had to sell their house just to pay off debts, and now he lives with his retired parents in a cabin out in the sticks, stealing from them constantly and scaring them half to death every time he heads into town. He did a little bit of drugs—everyone does, right? A little euphoria, whatever. Then there’s my good friend’s sister... twenty wasted, hollowed-out souls I see standing outside my house every single day in my new neighborhood. I even had five rounds of guys from the Retro center delivering furniture to me when I moved... and all this is coming from a Woman from San Francisco whose social circle never even touched weed, let alone anything else. So yeah, go ahead, you little kid from 80s San Francisco, declare him unqualified to talk about drugs and see who the real idiot is here...

It’s true, though. The ones whose parents have enough cash so they don't have to deal, steal, or prostitute themselves just to fund a habit usually fare a bit better. Now you just have to calculate what percentage of Americans have a few thousand bucks stashed away to bail a son or daughter out of trouble, paying for expensive schools and businesses to give them a "normal" life without a criminal record... versus the vast majority who end up with their mental and physical health trashed, teetering on bankruptcy—invisible statistics to most, but plain as day to anyone whose brain hasn't been fried by narcotics...

San Francisco was devastated by drugs and had to face the cold hard truth: you can only fight this evil one way, and that’s realizing everyone who thinks they're "too smart" to get hooked is actually a complete moron. It’s pathetic that people can’t learn from others' experiences; clearly, that kind of awareness only hits society once everything is thoroughly screwed up...

I can see you're full of empathy, so tell me, do you actually know what being an addict means? Do you think addicts are inherently evil people, or are they mentally unstable individuals who found drugs and saw them as salvation? Doesn't it seem to you that we're all looking for some kind of salvation today? Some find it in gardening, some in collecting old toy cars, some in sex, some in drugs, etc. So who are you to judge why we use? You only know about it through stories. I'd love to see you try cocaine and heroin on a needle ten times before you start judging how it's not good. It's easy to bang on the table and act smart when it's someone else's problem.

Believe me, I have WAY more experience with addict friends than "two neighbors were addicts," so you don't need to explain what it means to me. I could explain what it means when a 17-year-old heroin addict goes out "looking." I'd put my balls on the anvil and take a hit from a hot iron if 75% of the people on this forum wouldn't vomit seeing where one of those kids ends up trying to hit. And you think that person is an idiot? No, they aren't, because I know people who are fucking brilliant (there are idiots in every walk of life) who ended up there. And again, it's easy to judge all this from the warmth of your home and the comfort of your keyboard and monitor.😉

Look, since you’re such a genius, why don't you give me some advice? How about telling me how to convince the bureaucrats at Medicare not to lie to my mother and others fighting brain tumors? How do I make them stop denying her another dose of Temodal? They claim it doesn't work for recurrences, yet we have top-tier specialists sending us interpretations from Houston confirming it's the only way to help her and that it's standard practice everywhere else in the world—except here, in this pathetic excuse for a country where Medicare wastes money on losers like you who think they know the "right" way to get high, providing massive payouts for methadone once you realize you screwed up and got hooked, not to mention all the useless institutional therapies, psychologists for you and your family, and all that other garbage!

See, you moron, my mother didn't choose her illness, but you and your kind choose yours, and then you still get to play the "poor victim" to get assistance that my mother can only dream of!

I’m all for legalization, but if we go that route, I’m also for cutting off all government assistance for addiction. Go get high until sunrise for all I care.🙂 🙂

Go screw yourself, you little brat.😉

It’s not that you aren't smart, you're just bitter. And honestly? I just feel sorry for people like that.😘

What makes your mom, or anyone else who is sick, more deserving of therapy than an addict? Is it based on your vision of "everyone is responsible for their own mess"? By that logic, even veterans with PTSD are just their own fault for lighting themselves on fire. Who forced them to defend the country just so some punks could go out and get high? If you actually knew how many of those guys ended up on drugs—and not just the good stuff, but actual prescription meds—maybe you wouldn't be talking this much trash.

But like I said, you're bitter, so I get it. And don't be mad at me; I don't hate you. I just have a very direct, raw way of posting.🙂

If you people who don't touch anything even came close to realizing how many people are actually using—whether it’s legal stuff, illegal stuff, or just people messing around with certain substances—your little bubble of perceived safety would pop so fast it’d be a beautiful sight to behold. Trust me, until you're actually in this world, you'll NEVER believe someone is high until you see them standing right next to you at the local corner store where you buy your gear. And that's not even mentioning the other stuff out there.

As long as drugs are strictly for recreational use—then it’s fine.

Is it absolutely good or bad? I honestly can't say.
It might be a great way to blow off steam, it could expand your consciousness, or it could completely wreck you.

From what I've seen—it's usually the people who don't care about anything, the ones who don't find any actual fulfillment in most things they do, who end up getting messed up. It doesn't have anything to do with how smart or stupid someone is, or their IQ, or whatever...

It really does. There are people on this forum ten years younger than me whose first brush with drugs was LSD, and I actually suggested they take two tabs right away (my recommendation would have been three) because I know how people's minds work, and I figured their intelligence wouldn't let them get hurt... and that's exactly what happened. I got a message saying it wasn't even as big a deal as they thought it would be based on the hype.

There’s no crazier way to try to explain to someone what it’ll feel like to get high. First off, what happens is the placebo effect, where people start "experiencing" stuff just because of what they've heard. A classic example is coke, which in my opinion is the most pointless drug (unless it's high quality and taken IV 🙏), and it's easy to convince someone with zero experience (especially if they've been drinking) that they're snorting pure white powder when they're actually just inhaling some cheap trash they paid 400-$200 for.

The thing is, some people just don't get it. It’s exactly like riding a motorcycle. Anyone can hop on one, but how you handle it is what matters. Take 100 people from this forum, give them all the exact same bike, and let them rip through the canyons outside of LA—you'll see who actually enjoys the ride, who struggles just to stay upright, and who quits after five minutes. There’d be at least a 20-second gap between the fastest and slowest riders. Well... drugs work the same way.

I second that!

Besides, what does anyone actually have against "addicts"? This is their world, isn't it? They aren't bothering you, so why should you bother them?
And honestly, it is just incredibly foolish when someone tries to lecture you about something they clearly know absolutely nothing about.🙏

Why don't you try it yourself before you start talking?😉

I won't quote him directly... since he brought up LSD, it’s worth noting that when people talk about "getting hooked," there's actually zero tolerance built up with LSD (meaning you don't need five times the dose after five years to feel the same thing). Plus, it doesn't cause any kind of addiction whatsoever. Still, we're talking about the most potent psychoactive substance out there—and hey, it turns 64 this year (give or take five years from when it was first used).

Smart people get hooked and idiots get hooked. Being unable to control your own state of consciousness or failing to find an interest in life usually has nothing to do with how sharp your mind is.
