The Swiss approach to tackling heroin addiction

In short—they provide addicts with free access to methadone. It’s a way to pull them out of the street life, which cuts down on crime and disease outbreaks. Plus, it gives them a chance to actually focus on something productive while they work toward getting clean.

amberorca192 said:Look, I don't regret a single moment I spent getting high. But man, do I regret every single time I stepped foot into a casino. I started playing poker back in sixth grade, and because of that habit, I ended up racking up about 300 unexcused absences before I even hit middle school.

So now when someone who’s never even touched a substance tries to pass judgment, I have to wonder: what exactly are they qualified to judge? I spent 15 years deep in it. I’ve tried every possible drug in every way imaginable. I’ve hit states of consciousness that most of these idiots talking trash don't even know exist. I’ve lived through things that only happen in that world, coming out the other side with enough life experience to offer a perspective—if only I were talking to someone who actually knew what they were talking about.

I'm curious, though. What’s this supposed "negative side"? What’s this whole stigma against addicts and narcophiles all about? I’d love for one of these keyboard warriors to explain why we're such easy targets for contempt. 🙂 And where does all this hatred come from? We aren't even throwing it at anyone else.

It’s even more fascinating watching people who have absolutely zero connection to drugs try to weigh in, basing their entire argument on nothing but assumptions.

Dropping a line like "the wise learn from others' mistakes, while fools learn from their own" is honestly one of the dumbest things I've ever read on this forum, and I've read over half the posts here. If I were being generous, I'd call that the quintessential "small-town guy in a trucker hat eating BBQ just because he thinks it's his birthright" kind of statement. 🙏 🙏 🙏

I’d love to sit someone down with 3x 120 microgram LSD and see where all that supposed wisdom, self-control, and those weekly trips to Mass come in handy for their psychological development as a devout Catholic.

You're introduced to LSD, and it's not like taking some other drug for instance
like marijuana or something, hm, well, you know, it's altogether a new thing,
and you actually can have a religious experience, and, hm, and it can be even
more important than reading the Bible six times or becoming a Pope or something
like that, you know...

😁

I mean, honestly, when I see someone who’s never even touched a substance sitting there acting like a judge, I have to wonder: what exactly do you think you're qualified to rule on? Look, I spent fifteen years deep in that life. I’ve tried just about everything available, in every way imaginable. I’ve tapped into states of consciousness that most of these idiots posting online couldn't even wrap their heads around, let alone identify. I've lived through things that can only be experienced behind that veil—stuff that stays with you. I came out the other side with a level of raw, firsthand life experience that actually carries weight. It’s a perspective worth listening to, provided you're talking to someone who actually knows what they're talking about.

And who exactly are you to judge? Honestly, who gives a damn about people who haven't even tried, let alone given a single thought to the situation? They wouldn't lift a finger to help you if you were their best friend, either. You could be standing right on their doorstep, begging for a hand up, and they’d just stare at you. Nothing. Zero.

Go to hell.

I’m genuinely curious about this whole "negative aspect" everyone keeps harping on—this idea that we’re all just some kind of social pariahs or addicts who deserve to be stigmatized. I’d really love for one of these judgmental blowhards to step up and actually explain it to me. Why exactly is it that people like us, the ones labeled as junkies or narco-philes, are such easy targets for all this constant, unearned contempt? What’s the logic behind treating us like we're beneath everyone else? 🙂 And where exactly is all this hatred coming from? We aren't even showing any animosity toward anyone.

Look, I’m not one of those "haters" everyone loves to point fingers at, but I might as well weigh in anyway. It’s common knowledge—not even a debate—that drug addiction eventually leads to total ruin. Whether it’s mental health, social standing, or physical wellbeing, it hits you all at once. Sometimes it's everything. All of it.

It’s not just about the person struggling, though. More often than not, their family and loved ones get dragged right into the wreckage too. But honestly, that’s the nature of any addiction once it spirals into something pathological—it starts wrecking every other part of a person's life. It’s a domino effect. And I have to wonder, why is it that people don't show an ounce of empathy? Instead, they just sit there and spit on them. I haven't got a clue. Maybe it makes them feel tougher, or bigger, or more righteous. Who knows.

Look, I have too much respect for what actual diseases are to treat this lightly. Addiction is a disease in its own right, in one form or another, so I’m not about to just breeze past it or act like it’s some minor issue.

Look, if some clown starts a thread just to spout total nonsense, then yeah, call me a hater all you want. I'll take that label any day. 😁.

It honestly fascinates me—in the worst way possible—watching people who have absolutely zero firsthand experience with drugs try to weigh in on this. They sit there acting like experts, basing their entire arguments on nothing but half-baked assumptions and wild guesses. It’s pure speculation, and frankly, it's exhausting.

Look, it’s pretty simple. You’ve got people out there who aren't politicians, yet they suddenly think they have some divine right to lecture everyone on policy. It’s the exact same thing with sports—you see folks who couldn't make a high school roster if their life depended on it acting like they're ready to coach an NFL team. Some people just can't help themselves. 😁Man, this forum is just what it is 😬

I’d honestly love to see people like that sit down at a table in a dive bar with 3x 120 microgram doses of LSD just to see where all that "wisdom" goes. I want to see if their knowledge, self-control, and all those Sunday morning trips to Mass (and throughout the week, too) actually did anything for their psychological development as such a devout Catholic.

Look, it's fine. There are plenty of people who wouldn't touch that stuff even if you beat them with a whip, and if that's how they roll, that's cool with me 🙂. Personally, I wouldn't do it because I have way too many responsibilities and life crap I need to deal with; I can't afford to lose my grip on reality right now 😁, but I'll say this: I tried mushrooms once, and if they were easy to find here in the States, I would've done it at least 15 more times just to see how far the rabbit hole goes 😁.

But I never leaned toward pills, weed, or anything harder 😁. For real, I’ve been drinking for years and I haven't even touched a cigarette in my entire life 🤣

That's just how the cards fell, I guess

Look, you can pick up heptane anywhere you want; anyone can get their hands on it. Isn't that essentially legalization? It's perfectly legal...
And don't even get me started on all the other prescription pills out there—all totally legal...
😉
Dammit, if people actually knew which substances they could just get legally with a standard prescription without all the extra hassle... nobody would be wasting massive amounts of money unnecessarily... lol..

Well, you can find heptane just about anywhere if you know where to look. Since anyone can pick it up without any hassle, doesn't that basically make it legal? It’s right there in plain sight, perfectly legal...
As for the other pills, I won't even get into it—everything is completely legal.
😉

I’m all for legalization. Don't you think it's about time we moved toward a more sensible approach? Everything..

Everyone Dammit, what a mess...

Everything that simply cannot be stopped—except, perhaps, for those things that stand in direct opposition to what comes next.

Honor your mother and father, and you might just find that life treats you well for a long, long time.
Don't kill the vibe.
Don't go making any wrong turns.
Don't steal.
Let’s make sure we aren't out there sharing false testimonies, shall we?
Don't go looking to be the best man at someone else's wedding if you aren't ready for the commitment. Isn't it better to just stay focused on your own path?
He doesn't have any interest in taking things that don't belong to him. Why would he bother?

amberorca192 said:LSD stayed legal until the late 60s. The CIA used it heavily in their own testing (just use Google to find more 😉), and half of Pfizer was basically riding the wave after they discovered it. It was tested extensively on smart people—artists, psychiatrists, you name it—specifically because of how it shifts consciousness. That’s where "Delta" comes from, which is why it's such a staple in Goa trance music for inducing trances.

Anyone talking trash about this stuff without ever having tried LSD is just a total moron in my book. Even for anyone with an ounce of education or a psyche deeper than the trance you get at a Thompson's concert, it's easy to see the value.😉

Excuse me French, but thanks for the compliment.😁 Look, I’m not saying I haven’t *tried* LSD—it’s just that, honestly, nothing has ever hit me harder than a nicotine buzz. So, I feel like I don't really have much standing to weigh in on this whole debate, which means I'll probably just sit back and keep reading everything you guys post with total interest.👍
I’m honestly so invested in all the advice being shared on here—it’s a lifesaver. I’ve got a 13-year-old daughter, and looking back... man, things were intense. A few years ago, a top producer over at ABC was actually selling drugs right in front of her school. It was just one of those things that hits you out of nowhere.

So, I was just sitting here thinking—and honestly, my brain goes to weird places sometimes—but isn't encouraging kids to use drugs actually illegal? Like, strictly against the law? I’m genuinely baffled that we’re even still having this conversation... it feels like such an obvious one, right?

So, I've actually got a question for Willie... would you ever tell your future kid to just go ahead and enjoy drugs if they really are that good?

Look, it's absolutely against the law, and frankly, I still can't wrap my head around how this forum has devolved into such a mess... I've been posting here for years and I have never seen anything quite this twisted: minors on an American message board. You've got moderators giving them advice on how to take drugs so they won't "feel any side effects," telling them to just "enjoy the ride," and even bragging about how much stuff they've handed out to other users... meanwhile, the poor souls who actually try to warn them about the law, their own life experiences, or the plain fact that drugs destroy lives get mocked by these kids. They get called "uncool" or outdated losers for being responsible. I seriously thought about just walking away from this thread entirely, but you know what? I'm fed up with seeing sane people back down just because some idiots are running the show. Then everyone acts surprised when parents are too terrified to let their kids go to school, the mall, or a club without worrying they'll run into some "cool" little street dealer... Drugs are everywhere because we basically let them be, and that is a pathetic reality.

Honestly, you’re spot on. But I find reading these threads pretty fascinating—mostly because I am completely clueless when it comes to anything remotely intoxicating, so I feel like I'm picking up random bits of knowledge here every day. At the very least, I might actually know how to provide some basic first aid if a kid ends up needing it (like, I don't know, splashing some water or yogurt on them or something). 😁

Anyway, I still cling to this hope that things like home upbringing and a kid's own common sense play a massive role in that initial decision to try something. Personally, though? I’m way more terrified of the idea of someone secretly spiking a drink or something similar. Sorry if I'm sounding totally ridiculous here—I really don't have any experience with this kind of stuff—but if anyone out there actually knows what they're talking about, please, educate me on what specific red flags I should be watching for with my kid. Thanks.

What's the actual issue here? They’re advising him on "harm reduction"—how to minimize the damage—rather than encouraging the usage itself. The kid has already made his choice.

Charles Young said:Look, whether you're out on the islands or just living in a small town, there are two fundamental problems that always crop up.

The youth are bored. Plain and simple. There’s a massive disconnect between what they actually care about and the garbage being shoved down their throats in the news and online. They read the headlines, they browse the feeds, and find absolutely nothing that resonates. It's a total void.
The "know-it-all" syndrome. It’s an epidemic. Personally, I find it absolutely repulsive, yet there are people out there who actually embrace it and nurse it like a prized possession. In my book, it isn't just annoying—it's toxic.

It comes down to exactly the same reasons I mentioned before—points one and two. It’s why you see so many young people across this country turning to hard drugs. And let me be clear: I'm talking about the heavy stuff. Hard drugs.
The situation out there is a different beast entirely compared to what you see in the major cities. I can think of a few specific cases that prove my point.
It’s not even about the drugs themselves. It isn't about the substance. It’s the environment. It's the setting and the mindset of the people around them. When someone finds themselves in a situation that doesn't fit who they are, they look for a quick fix. That's the reality.

Middle schools are a disaster zone. I’ll give you that. But let's be real—even in these tiny, rural backwater towns, there’s a segment of the youth that isn't out there getting high. It comes down to character. Or maybe it’s how they were raised. There are a million different variables that shape who a person turns out to be.
You can talk about mindset all you want, but here’s the reality: these "mental frameworks" people brag about are usually forged during the exact moments they're getting wasted, high, or just generally losing their grip on reality. They chase those little spikes of altered consciousness—those "trips"—as if that's some profound experience. Why? Because in this culture, the only way to stay relevant is to blur your vision. Take my goddaughter, for example. She’s seventeen and lives for the party scene. Honestly, she’s got enough energy to knock a grown man off his feet, yet there I am, heading to the office in the morning while she’s creeping back into the house, completely hammered and out of her mind. She’s a wonderful kid, really, but I’ve told her I’m going to take a photo of her one day just so she can see what she actually looks like at 8:00 AM when she rolls in from God-knows-where. I’ve started fighting this battle, but it’s exhausting. It breaks my heart. Life is passing her by, and her entire philosophy boils down to clouding her perception of the world because, apparently, reality is just too boring to face sober.

Look, nimblemarlin80, no offense intended, but do you honestly believe your son didn't come into contact with drugs while staying at his grandparents' place? If there was any presence of it there—no matter how minimal—then it’s definitely present there now. Drugs are everywhere. It’s refreshing to see someone else finally acknowledging the reality of this situation. In my view, the number of kids using drugs is essentially equal to the number of kids just heavy drinking; maybe there's a tiny percentage difference, but who cares? It all leads to the same place: a coma.

He definitely stepped into it on purpose. Nobody forced his hand; he had options. He moved to a massive city like New York or LA where you actually get to choose your circle, but he couldn't do that here. You are exactly who you surround yourself with. That’s just how it works.
It's his final year of college. He’s still smoking weed, though he keeps it within reasonable limits—never really ventured into the heavy stuff. He popped some ecstasy a couple of times, then moved on and managed to actually grow up. From here on out, it’s entirely on him, but honestly, his horizons are probably wider now because of it.
I did what I felt was necessary at the time. I have no regrets.
At this point, his life is entirely in his own hands.

I honestly find myself wondering how anyone can muster the willpower to test something that clearly poses such a massive risk, especially when you have a hundred different people trying to explain why it’s a terrible idea...
I suppose those hundred voices are just somehow less intelligent than the one person ignoring them, right?
Being this stubborn is, frankly, nothing short of moronic.

👍 👍

Zero tolerance for drugs. That's the move. Penalties for dealing are way too light.
Wouldn't be surprised if some of these "advisors" are actual dealers hanging around middle schools.
If tomorrow someone posted a thread saying "I've tried everything, all that's left is Russian roulette," I bet you'd find a few "good Samaritans" advising them on how to play it without overdosing on lead. And anyone who dared to say something against it would just be called a freak, like: "What do you know, you [censored], you haven't felt it when you spin the cylinder, put the barrel to your head, and pull the trigger."
It's easy to talk trash about other people. I'd love to see which parent would advise their kid to take specific drugs or certain doses just to "have a good time"???
