Larry Wells2 said:So, I'm writing this because I'm planning on trying drugs for the first time. I'm 17 and a junior in high school. Just a heads-up: don't bother trying to talk me out of it, because I'm going to do this regardless of whatever stupid comments you leave. I guess I've just reached a point where I feel like I've done everything else and I want to try something new. To be clear, I haven't even touched weed yet. I have zero interest in smoking that. But all my friends are into speed now, and now this other friend is pushing us to try cocaine. Money isn't the issue. I'm just stuck on what to actually go with, so I wanted to hear about your experiences. What's the best way to get a real high without being a total zombie for 24 hours? I'm thinking about doing something Saturday night so that by maybe 2 or 3 in the morning on Sunday, I'm somewhat functional, though I still want the experience to actually hit.

The only thing you'll be trying is how much trouble you can get into 😛

Look, I’ve been a pioneer in harm reduction here in the States for five years now. Working with everyone from the hardcore addicts to those just starting to spiral, I’ve seen it all—and frankly, lately, I’ve had to read through a whole lot of absolute garbage online.

Listen, kid (and trust me, I’m twenty years older than you), my first piece of advice is: DON'T! And since you’re seventeen and probably think you’ve already experienced everything life has to offer, I obviously can't count on your judgment. So, here’s my second tip—just Google "harm reduction," because I have a pretty good feeling you aren't going to listen to my first one anyway.

Drug addicts... honestly, the sun would be better off just picking you all up and tossing you out so we could actually build a light rail system in Chicago, or maybe Austin, or even Phoenix...

So, what's the word on the street here in Los Angeles? Any idea if we're looking at a massive blowout coming our way? 🤣

Honestly, you wouldn't even believe how fast they'd wrap this up. 🤣

It’s always a blast seeing a thread about drugs pop up; you just know the usual group of amateurs will flock here, dying to prove how backward they are. 🙏 🙏 🙏

Now, this is the only question worth asking. 👍

I might even phrase it a bit more gently:

Would you even care if your child decided to use drugs?

Even if it was just "experimental"... 🙄

The fundamental point is that if a child decides to use drugs, they will do so regardless of whether we try to break their spirit, lock them in the house for ten days, or send them to some religious retreat. Repression and harshness do nothing to change the reality that drugs are omnipresent in today's world, and in fact, they become even more prevalent the stronger a repressive system becomes, much like what we see in the US or the UK.

Personally, I would always prefer to have a child who comes to me to ask about using cocaine or meth than a child who hides everything from me. Only through that kind of openness can I explain the realities of substance abuse and how to avoid falling into the trap of heroin or crack. A child left entirely to the streets is beyond saving, as evidenced by the examples of friends—both yours and mine—who failed to stop after a weekend of reckless behavior. Do you truly believe those people had anyone they could turn to?

The fundamental point is that if a child makes that choice, they will pursue it regardless of whether we attempt to break their spirit, lock them in the house for ten days, or send them to some religious retreat. Repression and excessive punishment do nothing to erase the reality that drugs are ubiquitous in today's world, and indeed, they become even more prevalent the more aggressive the repressive system becomes, much like what we see in certain parts of the US and UK.

Personally, I would always prefer to have a child who comes to me to ask about using cocaine or meth rather than a child who hides everything from me. Only a child who is open can be taught the realities of substance abuse, how to avoid addiction, and how to steer clear of things like heroin or crack. A child left entirely to the streets is beyond saving, as evidenced by the examples of friends—both yours and mine—who failed to stop after a weekend of experimentation. One must wonder if those individuals ever had anyone they could actually turn to.

The fundamental issue is that if a child decides to use drugs, they will do so regardless of whether we attempt to break their spirit, lock them away in the house for ten days, or send them to some remote religious retreat. Repression and harshness do nothing to eliminate the reality that drugs are omnipresent in our modern world, and in fact, they become increasingly prevalent whenever the repressive systems grow stronger, much like what we have observed in various parts of the US and the UK.

Personally, I would always prefer to have a child who comes to me to ask about using cocaine or meth rather than a child who feels compelled to hide their life from me. Only through such openness can I actually explain the dangers, teach them how to avoid addiction, and help them steer clear of things like heroin or crack. A child who is left entirely to the streets is beyond saving, as evidenced by the examples of friends—both yours and mine—who failed to stop once they moved past mere weekend experimentation; one has to wonder if those individuals ever had anyone they could actually turn to.

Carol Jackson45 said:How are they doing? Honestly, pretty good. Most people I know finished college, got jobs, started families, and are just out there grinding and paying off their mortgages. Just your average Americans.😁

As for getting hooked? It sucks, but let's be real—people don't usually spiral after one pill or a gummy.

I’ve lost people in my circle who ended up six feet under, so I get where you're coming from. But you can't lump weed, edibles, and heroin into the same bucket.😉

Stop talking nonsense, that's the nicest way I can put it. A buddy I used to train with was found overdosed in an alleyway dumpster—same story, all because he followed the exact kind of idiotic advice you're backing here. I have a 17-year-old brother in high school; you really think this is some joke?

Someone above mentioned that we should approach this smartly and stay informed, but I honestly don't see how that works... 🙏 It feels like everyone is talking as if they’ve actually tried it, when in reality, it seems quite rare for anyone to have genuine experience, and most people just seem driven by pure impulse rather than actual intent...

Someone above mentioned that we should all "do this smartly and stay informed," but I honestly don't see the point... how are you even supposed to approach it with such certainty? 🙏 It feels like everyone is talking as if they've actually gone through with it, though I doubt anyone truly has... it seems more like people are just being swayed by the idea rather than having any real intention to try it...

Someone above is saying we need to be smart about this and stay informed, but I honestly don't see the point... how can you even approach something like this "smartly" when there's so little to go on? 🙏 It feels like everyone is talking as if they’ve actually experienced it themselves, though that seems incredibly rare and unlikely... and even then, claiming someone truly wants to try this isn't quite right, it's more like just being susceptible to temptation...

Someone above mentioned we should approach this intelligently and do our research, but I honestly don't see how you can plan for something like this... 🙏 It feels like everyone is talking as if they’ve actually gone through it themselves, when in reality, that kind of genuine experience is quite rare, and much of what people claim is just someone being swayed by the hype rather than any real intention to try it...

One guy gave it a shot and... well, let's just say he's seen better days. Why shouldn't you try? Give me the full scoop once you do!👍

One guy tried it and ended up totally wrecked... So why shouldn't you? Just give it a shot. Let me know how it goes.
