I was using vaginal wipes about a month ago because of some bacterial issues. There’s no way a yeast infection would just pop up now, right? Ugh... well, at least it doesn't itch yet.😛

Oh, please... then you can bet your life there’s a fungal outbreak on the horizon.
Antibiotics generally wreak such havoc on the vaginal flora and fauna😁 that everything down there goes absolutely haywire, essentially throwing a massive party for yeast. This is precisely why, whenever someone is prescribed an antibiotic-based treatment, they should always be given something specifically designed to suppress fungal growth alongside it.

I'm heading straight to the drugstore. Honestly, nothing is going to work better than Canesten, even if it isn't actually a fungal infection...

Seriously?
Maybe I should swing by the pharmacy too.
I don't have any discharge, just symptoms... I've been on antibiotics for about 15 days now, though I've taken plenty before and nothing ever popped up. So, who knows if this is actually caused by them or not...
Someone on another thread suggested I try Plymicol—what's the deal with that compared to Canesten?
/And yeah, I know, asking here instead of just Googling it, but I'd much rather hear from someone who's actually dealt with it firsthand.../

Honestly, I don't really see the difference.

Plymicol is generally considered to be a milder option. I honestly have no idea myself, since I had such a bad reaction to it that I never bothered trying it again. It’s a decent product, certainly, but with Canesten you get both the suppositories and the cream, whereas Plymicol seems to be more of a universal suppository for yeast infections, which is why most women gravitate toward it.🤷
Canesten is definitely not an inferior choice.

Linda Rodriguez38, sometimes they just don't show up, depending entirely on your body's current state. However, if you feel any itching at all—get to the pharmacy immediately. I would strongly recommend starting strictly with the cream before moving on to the suppositories.

At the local pharmacy, you can find packs containing three suppositories along with a tube of cream for about $17, which is what I usually pick up.

Oh, right, I really don't think Canesten will do you any harm; I used to reach for it at the very first sign of trouble. But truly, I am at a loss for what to tell you, it's just chaotic... why not simply call a gynecologist and ask them directly? I have no desire to give you poor advice and have you end up in a miserable situation.

Edit: Linda Rodriguez38, I just saw what you were typing in that other thread. Just go to the pharmacy, or if you aren't sure, call your OB-GYN just to be safe. I didn't catch it in time this month—I thought it was something else because the discharge seemed normal—and then it caught me completely off guard during sex. By the second day, things had escalated, and by the third day, I had applied treatment only to be woken up by such intense itching in the morning that I could barely sit down. Usually, my symptoms vanish after the first suppository, yet this time I was supposed to finish all three... start your treatment immediately.

stormymaker24 thanks for the advice, it's solid. don't worry
I honestly don't know either... I'll just see how things look over the next couple of days. It feels like it might just settle down on its own, so I'll wait until my appointment at the OBGYN.
If it doesn't get better, I'll just grab some cream and call it a day.
I can't get a hold of her at the clinic, and my sister is just some young intern covering the shift...
It’ll be fine.
Anyway, regarding sex—not really recommended, right?
Though I don't think it's even doable... it stings and cracks...😢

Hey stormymaker24, don't sweat it, I'll call them at the first opportunity. Honestly, I'm just trying to gauge what everyone else is going through so I don't jump to conclusions and convince myself I've got some major illness. I have a tendency to spiral and panic over nothing.

🙂Linda Rodriguez38, are we both just going to go out and buy cream until a gynecologist actually gives us an appointment? It can't hurt, right?

BC, heh, maybe
The thing is, I feel like if it’s some kind of bacteria, all those nasty bugs have the same symptoms—that stinging and itching sensation
Like Gardnerella, for instance...
Quick update: I've got some discharge, but it's yellowish and thick (ugh, so awkward🙄). It looks like the normal stuff, just a bit heavier... and honestly, nothing is bothering me right now
aaaa 🤷
I could always go to a private clinic, but my appointment is in 6 days and things aren't exactly a crisis. My gynecologist is actually really great, so it feels stupid to drop a ton of cash on this right now
If I hadn't read everything here, I think I would've felt way better...

Look, if it's only been six days, just hang in there. Honestly, I spend way too much time reading up on all these symptoms myself—it gets so overwhelming that I can't even tell what's going on anymore. But for some reason, reading about what other people have gone through actually helps me feel a bit better. I just gather up all the advice I can find, and maybe then it's a little easier to deal with everything...

True, it’s easier to just deal with it, but I totally spiraled this time...
I kept thinking, what if something's actually wrong and I'm just sitting here waiting almost a week for things to get messy? Now I've gotta be the smart one... honestly, I'm done reading about bacteria for today, because I can't tell what's real anymore and what I'm just making up.🙄
Seriously, I went full hypochondriac on myself.
If you head to the pharmacy and grab some, let me know how it goes.🙂

Mar, I’m not talking about sex here. 😁 If you experience any itching at all, apply cream immediately.
If the discharge looks like that, it would be genuinely wise for you to visit your gynecologist for a swab. I handle mine on the spot so there's no guesswork regarding what needs testing; that is standard practice, anyway.
But whatever you do, do not wait six days. While that might not seem like an eternity, so much can go wrong in six days. For instance, you could develop swelling and everything could become inflamed... and then you'll find yourself attempting to force a speculum while you're swollen and in pain. Honestly, the mere thought of it brings tears to my eyes. 😲
Just call your OB-GYN; this isn't something you should simply brush off. I am being serious. You aren't going to die, but don't make your situation more complicated by waiting. That is my most sincere advice. Don't do it.

Chaotic, just go ahead and buy it yourself, so if the itching starts in the middle of the night, at least you have it within reach. 😉

Hey everyone 🙂 I’m really hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction here...

So, basically, I always have some kind of discharge. Some days it's just a tiny bit—kind of yellowish—and other days it's pretty heavy, also yellowish or occasionally clear, and once in a while it even looks slightly greenish, though that usually clears up fast. I go to my gynecologist regularly, and everything always comes back fine—just some mild bacteria, which my doctor says is totally normal and nothing to worry about.
Since I was under the impression that this discharge was perfectly normal, I didn't really stress out about it, nor did I bother giving my doctor the full details—but now I'm starting to realize I might have been wrong...

There are times when it definitely ramps up and gets itchy, but that usually happens on days when I don't get a chance to wash properly. After two or three days, the itching subsides and the discharge settles down again.

I actually got a bit spooked recently because someone mentioned that a fishy smell is a sign of some nasty bacterial issues, and my boyfriend actually told me it smelled like that the other day...
The next time we were together, he said the smell wasn't there at all (though, mind you, I had just washed with warm water and whatever intimate soap I happen to be using at the moment).
For my routine, I wash myself at least once or twice a day, I dry off with a towel, I don't wear pantyliners, I stay away from tights or super tight pants, and I stick strictly to cotton panties. I'm not sexually active.

Honestly, the discharge has always been like this... and I'm just lost as to what I could be doing wrong, especially since, based on everything I've read, it seems like I'm just carrying around all sorts of fungi and bacteria in there... 😢 😢 😢 😢

Just to be clear: I have discharge EVERY SINGLE DAY. Obviously, the amount fluctuates, and I honestly don't get why people say you're only supposed to have it on certain days of the month?

I think the smartest thing to do is just head back to the gynecologist and tell her absolutely everything...

... so, I just did a little "status check"... I changed my underwear this morning, and there's just a tiny, tiny amount of dried discharge on them—it's barely even yellowish—and nothing is stinging or itching at all... :S

... and now I'm just totally confused—is it actually possible for stuff like this to happen solely because of hygiene issues?

Thanks!

So, I always deal with some kind of discharge—sometimes it's just a tiny amount throughout the day (kind of yellowish), but other times it gets pretty heavy. As for my routine, I wash at least once or twice a day, I dry off with a towel, I don't use pantyliners, I stay away from nylon stockings or tight pants, and I only wear cotton panties. I'm not sexually active.

The thing is, my discharge has been like this for as long as I can remember... and I'm just lost as to what I'm doing wrong, especially since it sounds like I'm carrying all sorts of fungi and bacteria based on what I've read...

Just to clarify: I have discharge EVERY SINGLE DAY. Sometimes more, sometimes less, and I don't quite get why people say you're only supposed to have it on certain days of the month?

... so, I just did a little "status check"... I changed my underwear this morning, and so far there's just a very, very tiny bit of dried discharge on them that's barely yellowish. Nothing is stinging or itching right now... 🤷

... and now I'm just confused. Is it actually possible for these kinds of unnatural things to happen solely because of hygiene?

I think the smartest move is to just head to the clinic, see my gynecologist, and tell her everything...

Thanks!

It’s highly likely we're looking at a fungal infection... I went through the exact same thing. All my swabs came back perfectly fine, yet there was clearly some sort of fungus going on. It wasn't even an itchy situation for me; it was just that specific yellowish discharge... honestly, it was a total mess. I’ve already done a little digging on Google regarding this.

Itching and thick discharge? Sounds like a yeast infection. You should head to a gynecologist; they’ll likely give you some vaginal suppositories or maybe just an external cream if they decide everything looks clear on the inside. I end up at the OB-GYN pretty often—every few months, actually—because of these recurring yeast issues. They clear up fast, but then they always come right back.☕

That sounds like a more intense Candida infection.

Go see a gynecologist; they'll probably give you some vaginal suppositories.
If you can get your hands on Rojazol, I think that’s one of the better options.
