I've got a question. Sometimes I get some discharge, but honestly, it’s usually totally fine—just clear and normal looking.
But then Tuesday night rolled around and everything changed. It started itching like crazy, and I made the mistake of scratching... which was a huge error because my labia swelled up, and then it felt like it was burning every single time I had to go to the bathroom. 🤦
Now the discharge has gotten thick and looks sort of yellowish-green. The itching hasn't stopped either, but now it feels like it's coming from deep inside rather than just on the surface, and I'm trying my best to just ignore it so I don't scratch again...
It's driving me absolutely insane 😢
My gynecologist is only in on Wednesdays, so I'm kind of stuck—I don't know if this will just pass by then. Everything seems okay as long as I can stay calm, but the second I have to use the restroom, the itching comes back and the discharge just won't quit. 🤷
About a month or two ago, I had a Pap test and all my other results came back perfectly fine.

That sounds like it could be Gardnerella to me. You really need to see your gynecologist, though, because you need to be certain whether it’s a bacterial issue or something else before deciding which vaginal suppositories to use.
If you absolutely can't make it to the doctor right away, maybe try picking up some Vagisan wipes or suppositories? They mainly just help regulate pH levels, so they might offer a little relief for the discharge and the itching in the meantime.

I’ve always had this white discharge during ovulation, which I figured was just totally normal. Well, I recently went to see my gynecologist, and he told me that my discharge levels were actually elevated—even though I hadn't noticed anything out of the ordinary besides that usual white stuff, and I definitely wasn't dealing with any itching or anything. He recommended a two-week course of Lactogyn tablets and vaginal suppositories. I started the treatment, but then suddenly, everything started itching around my vaginal area and I noticed this brownish discharge. Everything felt perfectly fine before I touched those tablets! What should I do now? Should I just stop the treatment?

There are way too many pages here and I don't have the time to read everything, so sorry if I’m repeating a question... 🙂
Basically, I can't get to my gynecologist anytime soon, and I have some discharge that has me wondering if I should be worried. It's usually the same as always, but after sex, it gets heavier and turns very white and thick. What’s really confusing me is that over the last three weeks, its consistency changes every single day. One day it's white with an unpleasant smell, then the next day it's gone entirely, or it's clear-white with no smell, or the odor is completely different from the day before. I thought it would pass after my period since I don't have any itching or other symptoms, but now it's just getting frustrating. My "genius" boyfriend thinks I've been with someone else and that I have an STD. So, I'm wondering—do you think this could actually be something serious, and can I handle it myself? My sister's doctor isn't returning my calls, and I really don't have the time to go there and wait hours just to ask what's going on. If anyone has dealt with this and thinks it might be serious, I'll head in immediately today. 😁

I just spent an entire week getting poked and prodded at the doctor because I've been dealing with this horrific discharge for months now. It's constant. And during sex? Everything just spills out—honestly, it feels like I'm full of semen 😁 On top of that, my stomach is killing me, and there's this intense burning sensation whenever I pee, or even just generally. So, get this: the Pap test came back normal?!??? Like, seriously? What am I supposed to do now?

Time to switch doctors. Seriously. What did your gynecologist even say about all this? Did they really just do a Pap test and call it a day?

When I walked her through my symptoms, she told me we’d do a Pap smear and see what happens. During the exam, she mentioned she could see some discharge inside. And that was it—the Pap smear came back normal, and now I'm stuck with nothing.

Tell them you want swabs done. It could be a yeast infection, but then again, it might be some kind of bacteria, so don't back down—insist on those tests.

Having heavy discharge, burning, itching, and all that? That’s just not normal.

Hmm... but I don't get it. Why wouldn't they see anything on a Pap smear? I know a Pap smear doesn't specify which exact bacteria are involved, but shouldn't it at least show if there's an inflammation or something going on?

Even though my doctor told me everything looked perfectly fine, I ended up testing positive for beta-hemolytic strep anyway. Gin kept insisting nothing was wrong, basically telling me I was fine, while I was over here absolutely doubled over from pain in my right ovary.

So, I spent months going back to his office every single month, constantly telling him my ovary was killing me. After burning through about $650 worth of creams and various vaginal treatments he’d just shove at me, he finally deigned to actually run a swab. And lo and behold—turns out I wasn't crazy and making up symptoms after all.

Now, when I start planning for a pregnancy, he better be ready to run every single swab and test I demand right off the bat. Because if he tries that circus routine in his office again, we're going to have a serious problem.

My Pap smears have been totally fine for years, yet I still dealt with all kinds of bacterial issues on my cervix.

You definitely need to get swabs done.

It could be fungi, or it might just be some bacteria. Either way, if you don't get checked out, things are going to go south.

When you say there's an unpleasant odor, what does it actually smell like? I was looking online, and they say fungal infections usually have this sour, sweet scent, whereas for something like Gardnerella, it’s supposed to smell fishy.

I don't even know how to describe it since the scent keeps shifting and varying... but it isn't fishy, nor is it that sour-sweet smell. I've already scoured the internet reading everything there is to read, but nothing mentions anything like what I'm experiencing. That’s why I'm not even sure if this is an actual infection or just a slight shift in my flora due to stress... honestly, what confuses me most is that I don't have any other symptoms at all.

And since it isn't an emergency, I won't be coming in for an appointment with Dr. Gynaecols for the next 2-3 months.😢

Hey there. I’m dealing with something pretty similar and honestly just wanted to grab some advice before I go see my OB-GYN... For a few months now, I've been getting this irregular yellow discharge—the color isn't even consistent and the amount fluctuates all over the place. There's this unpleasant smell too, but I've been scrolling through old posts looking for anything similar and I can't find a match... it’s not sweet, it’s not sour... it’s just really strong. I have no clue... does anyone have any ideas what this could actually be?!

Hey everyone, I’ve run into a bit of a situation here. If there are any girls out there who have dealt with this before, please, I could really use some advice.
So, I’ve been sleeping with my boyfriend for about a year now, and ever since we started, I’ve been dealing with this constant, heavy discharge. To be honest, the discharge itself actually showed up way before him, but it’s just... different now? It’s white and looks kind of cottage cheese-like, though sometimes it gets more slimy and "stretchy." Before things got serious with him, I could always just clean up with some wet wipes and call it a day, but those don't even touch the problem anymore because it just leaks out almost immediately. :/
I actually went in for a checkup and they gave me some vaginal suppositories, but honestly? They didn't help one bit... nothing at all.
Oh, and just for context, I’m 19. Thanks so much in advance.

So, here’s the situation... I had sex three days ago, and since then, I’ve been dealing with this yellowish discharge. It’s more than usual, too. The weird thing is, I don't have any itching or burning myself, but my boyfriend is feeling some stinging down there. Has anyone else dealt with something similar? Any idea what might be going on? I know I really should see an OB-GYN, but I’m away on vacation right now, so I’m stuck waiting until I get back.
