Can anyone recommend a decent boxing gym in the NYC area? I stumbled upon two places—Colosseum and Pitbull. Which one actually delivers better training, and which would you say is worth my time?

What about everyone else?
Come on, you city folks, go do some digging🙂
Neighborhoods I’d probably lean toward—maybe Upper West Side, Downtown, or parts of Brooklyn, maybe even Queens if you stay away from the southern edges😍
I'm not entirely sure which district covers the waterfront park area, but there are plenty of clubs out by the lake too...

Are you actually trying to say that the quality of work at these clubs is identical—and that it doesn't matter which one I pick?😉>

Look, if you don't have anything smart or useful to say, just keep it to yourself...
I figured I’d ask someone who might actually have a straight answer—Colosseum vs. Pitbull? I’m planning on signing up for boxing classes and I want to know about the quality of training at these two gyms. If anyone has any intel or firsthand experience... Thanks!🙂

Hey everyone, I’ve scrolled through a ton of pages here but still haven't found an answer to what's on my mind. Honestly, I don't have the energy or the patience to dig through 156 pages of posts, so I’d be seriously grateful if some kind soul could help me out.

Basically, I'm looking for a kickboxing gym recommendation in a city like San Diego—ideally somewhere central, not way out in the suburbs. Just looking to train recreationally. I should mention I've got zero experience with combat sports, so I'm wondering if being 22 and a total beginner is going to be an issue.
It would also be awesome if someone could point me toward a good Muay Thai club. That’s actually more my vibe, but from what I've gathered so far, the one place I know is a bit too far out of town for me.
Thanks in advance for any leads.

What’s actually the best self-defense martial art for guys who are a bit on the shorter side, especially if you're dealing with shorter limbs? In my book, the strategy should really center on closing the distance, getting into close-quarters combat, and focusing on immobilization—basically finding ways to get inside an opponent's guard to neutralize the reach and size advantage a bigger guy might have.
I’ve been weighing Wing Chun against Krav Maga, though I have to admit, Krav Maga doesn't quite sit right with me because of its whole philosophy; I’ve always felt that a martial art should have some kind of spiritual component to it, rather than just being pure utility.
Thanks.

Hey everyone!
Does anyone have a solid recommendation for a judo club over in the Kaštela area? 🙂 I was browsing online and stumbled upon JK California and JK Kaštela—any thoughts or reviews on those?
Thanks 🙂

Honestly, any style that leans too heavily on the "spiritual" side often becomes questionable once you actually find yourself in a situation where you have to use what you've learned, regardless of how much people talk it up.
As for Wing Chun, if you think it has a spiritual component similar to Krav Maga... well, it doesn't really have one at all.🤷
If you're looking for something with a "spiritual" element, you might look into (ki)aikido, Kempo, Tai Chi (though most clubs are just exercise), certain Kung Fu styles, or maybe some Ninjutsu schools...

Hey everyone,
I’ve been doing some thinking lately about getting back into a regular training routine, and I find myself wondering which Jiu Jitsu academies in the greater metropolitan area are actually worth the time and effort these days.

If anyone could share some insight—whether it's about the coaching styles, the overall atmosphere, or just how the mats feel during a heavy sparring session—I would truly appreciate the guidance. Thanks for the help.🙂

The black dragon over the Savannah... right behind the beast. $100 As for the membership, you get access to train every single day except Sunday, though you’re more than welcome to swing by early or hang back late to put in some extra work with the free weights and stuff.

Nah, that’s not actually true, I guess.

I was asking about kickboxing here once upon a time—got an answer back then—but now I can't even find the thread or figure out if this place is still active. Anyway, I'm looking for a kickboxing club in Los Angeles for some recreational training—basically just looking for somewhere that offers that kind of thing and what their requirements are. I'm 22.

Alright, adding some follow-up here—I guess I finally "got permission" to share this. 😉
Basically, Pit bull Chicago is still running, but they're swapping out their head coaches. Miro Jurac isn't leading the training sessions anymore.

They'll bring in someone else to take over, though we don't know who yet.
If I'm being honest—and this is just my two cents—the quality of the training has taken a massive hit since those two great coaches, Miro Jurac and his assistant Dina Belosevic, left.

I’d also mention the gym conditions are pretty rough (way too much humidity...) and even though it used to be a really solid club, I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone right now. 🤷 ☕ 🙄
