So, I’m new here. Just joined the forum and I’m trying to figure out which martial art I should actually commit to. I’m 16. Maybe I’m a bit on the skinny side, but honestly? I’m stronger than most guys my age. What I really want is to learn something that actually works—something that helps me win in any kind of scrap, whether it's a real street situation or just messing around with a friend. I want a hobby, sure, but I also want some discipline and a sense of obligation. To me, martial arts feels like the best way to go. You know what they say: a healthy mind lives in a healthy body. I’m not really interested in hitting the gym. To be honest, it feels like throwing money down the drain. Plus, I’ve got a home gym setup—has a machine for almost every muscle group and a barbell—but I barely ever touch it. That’s why I’ve decided to dive into combat sports instead. After doing some digging, I’m thinking Jiu-Jitsu might be the move for me. My plan is to stick with it for at least 5 to 10 years. I actually have some background already; I did Taekwondo for six years and earned my blue belt, but I got bored with it. Or maybe "bored" isn't the right word... it just didn't feel useful, you know? So, my first question: does anyone know of a good Jiu-Jitsu club around here? I found one called Alpha, but is it actually the best, or are there better options out there? If you could recommend a better sport or even send me a link to a club's website, I’d really appreciate it 🙂. My second question is about my best friend. How do I talk him into coming with me? He’s pretty lazy, he hates putting in effort, and he’s not exactly the strongest guy, but I know deep down he’d enjoy it if he just gave it a shot. It would help him bulk up too, so people stop picking on him. So, yeah, that’s the deal. Thanks in advance for the help! 🙂 🙂 🙂 😉
