Could someone please tell me where the best places are to go to get a painting appraised?

I would like to visit a few different spots just to hear various opinions. I don't know much about art myself, but I inherited a piece by a fairly valuable American painter, Medovica, and I really don't want to mess up the valuation.
I also have some other paintings, though I'm not sure who the artists are.

"At every auction in the world, including here in America, art prices are about 20 to 30 percent lower than what you'd see in galleries," says Zdravko Mihoćinec, the director of Kontura, which is the only auction house in the country that was registered for buying, selling, and appraising fine art three years ago.

Since they're lower, I guess that would probably be my last resort.🤷

Look, the price of a painting depends on a massive range of different factors.
Even someone like Vlaho Bukovac—who seems to be everywhere in the news lately—doesn't have one single set price for all his work.
In the actual art market, prices can end up being as much as 40% lower than what those big auction houses are asking.
And honestly, an appraisal is just that—an APPRAISAL. Most of the time, what you actually pay on the open market for a piece isn't even close to that official estimate.

Just to give you a heads-up—I once had a Nikola Mašić piece appraised at 6,000 bucks, but I ended up snagging it for 2,500.

Does anyone know the market value of a Branko Šenoe painting titled "Bakačeva vrata"?

Hey everyone.
Does anyone here happen to know who actually painted these pieces I've got?
I managed to snap some shots of the signatures:

If you need more close-ups or anything, just let me know...

I have a print by O. Iveković—an oleograph titled "The Peasant Wedding" by Matija Gubac... I was wondering if anyone here might be familiar with this particular piece, or perhaps if someone could shed some light on its current market value, even considering it's an oleograph rather than an original painting?

You'll see them at local flea markets for maybe 20 bucks--$17.
But honestly, I've seen cases where people drop a few hundred on stuff like that—really depends on who's buying and how much they know their art, I guess.

That particular image I possess is quite substantial in size, actually painted on canvas rather than being some mere paper print, and it’s encased in a vintage wooden frame that feels truly timeless... it’s a precious heirloom that I inherited from my late grandmother.

Hi everyone,
I'm new here—just trying to find my footing—and I was wondering how I might go about uploading photos so someone could help identify some artwork. I've inherited a few pieces recently—nothing too flashy, just things left to me—and I'm curious to know who the artists might be and if they hold any real value, though I can't seem to figure out how to get the images posted for you all to see.

Just head over to a site like Imgur or similar, hit upload, and—this part is key—make sure to resize the image before you send it. I think 600x800 is usually the sweet spot for forums like this. Once it's uploaded, just grab the BBCode link (they usually give you a few options) and paste that right into your post... and you're good to go.

Hey everyone,
So, I’ve got this one picture that was found up in our attic about 70 years ago... It actually just came back from being restored because it was in pretty rough shape, but the experts told us they couldn't figure out who actually painted it. We actually had a massive offer for it, but we turned it down! Mostly because we wanted to get a few more eyes on it first, but so far, nobody seems to know (or maybe they just don't want to say!) who the artist might be. So, I’m reaching out to you guys—if anyone has even a tiny hunch or an opinion, please let me know! 🙂Thanks so much in advance

Man, this photo is just terrible—you can't see a single thing, and especially can't make out the author's signature at all.

Hmm, if someone put money on the table, they definitely know what they're looking at. If it’s a Vlaho Bukovac, then that offer was probably huge—looks that way to me at first glance, anyway. But hey, it could easily be anyone else...

Suddenly there's more people calling themselves "experts" than there are actual graphic designers at a high-end agency like Lockheed Martin.

The photo was taken on my phone, so it’s looking a little rough... I’ll try to get some better shots with my DSLR tomorrow... 🙂
You won't even see the author's name because there isn't one, which is exactly why I posted it here on the forum—hoping maybe someone might help me find a "trail" leading back to them...

Don't forget about Murtić—people say he's churning out like 6 to 8 pieces a day alone... seriously!

Hey everyone! Just popping in to say hi—hope you’re all having an awesome week so far! I was just sitting here sipping on some coffee (okay, maybe it was my third cup already, don't judge me!) and thinking about how much fun it is to hang out in this group. It really makes my day better! Anyway, just sending some good vibes your way! ✨ kaže:
So, I just shot this one on my phone—honestly, it could have looked way better if I had better gear—but tomorrow I’ll get some decent shots using my DSLR! You won't see a photographer's credit on this one because, well, there isn't one... which is exactly why I decided to drop it here on the forum. Maybe if I post it, I can actually track down some "clues" and find out who the original creator is! 🙂

Just take it back to where they did the restoration—and honestly? Let them sign whatever the hell they want!🙂

So, I was just sitting here wondering, how much do you think one of those massive jugs of oil from Joseph Barnes53 would actually run me?
