Alright, if anyone here actually knows their stuff when it comes to oil paintings and unknown ages—this was passed down from my grandfather—I’d really appreciate the help....

James Ruiz6 said:Mom handed it over to someone for restoration, costing $1000. We'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

$1000 😳 , sounds way too low!
Restoration is an expensive undertaking because—well, if you want actual quality—you have to sink a massive amount of man-hours into it (and even though labor costs in America are still quite a bit lower than what an auto mechanic would charge you per hour 😢),
not to mention the cost of materials—assuming, of course, you're using legitimate restoration-grade stuff and nobody is trying to pull a fast one on you...
so, yeah, good luck
🙂

Hey everyone,
So, I’ve inherited some pieces that—for what little my tiny art brain understands—seem worth mentioning. I honestly have no clue about their market value or how to even verify if they’re the real deal.
Names involved are Stipe Nobilo, Mario Tomas, and Ratko Žaja.
They're fairly large pieces. For the first one, a local gallery offered us 1,000 Euros. One of Žaja's works is currently at auction with a starting bid of $833, and while Mario Tomas is holding an exhibition over at the university, I'm guessing his work goes for something around $1667 based on what I saw online.
Should I just take the deal from this gallery, or is there more to them?
Help out here,
Thanks :-)

Alright, I’ve got something to throw out there too. Since I’m a total amateur at this, I’m curious about a few things... like the author, what it’s actually worth, etc.
It’s pretty old, but honestly, it’s still in great shape.

I'm curious if anyone recognizes these images. Does anyone know who the artist might be, or have any background on them?

The last two pictures look like signatures. It seems to be some kind of Cyrillic "Đ S".

Or, does anyone happen to know where I could dig up more information regarding them?

I’m curious if anyone here can actually put a price tag on this metal belt? It looks like it's made of alpaca silver—if that’s even a thing people still call it. It supposedly dates back to the Ottoman era in the North America. I think that specific type of metal buckle used on these belts is called a *pafte*, but honestly, I haven't a clue what the technical term for the entire belt assembly is.

Hey, could someone help me out here? I'm looking for the manufacturer, how old this watch actually is, and what it might be worth. Sorry about the quality of these shots, I had to use a webcam to take them. Thanks.

Man, if this thing is more than 50 years old... honestly, I’m thinking it might actually be closer to a century old at this point.

Does anyone think this photo is worth anything at all? Like, does it have actual value...
Thanks,
The picture looks exactly like the one I stumbled upon at this link here:

I've had this picture for years now—don't know who actually made it, but you can see a tiny watermark in the bottom right where the artist basically went rogue, and their name starts with a "V"
If anyone happens to know who it is, let me know—I'd really appreciate it 😁

This painting has been passed down through our family for generations. We’ve finally decided it’s time for a restoration. Does anyone recognize this signature? Also—where can we officially register this as part of our estate? We need a rough appraisal before we dive in—we don't want the restoration costs to end up being higher than what the piece is actually worth.

I’m trying to figure out what this piece is actually worth. I know it was expensive when it was originally acquired, but the artist's signature is completely illegible, so I have no idea whose name is on it. I’ve shown it to a few gallery owners, and while none of them could identify the creator, they all agreed the quality of the work is high. The subject matter is the French Revolution...
Any advice? Who should I contact to get a real valuation on this?

Got a question here..
I've been on a mission to track down an actual antique compass... I’ve hit up every single used bookstore and antique shop from Seattle to Miami, and honestly? Nothing. Zero. And look, I know what you're thinking—just grab one of those cheap replicas off eBay—but absolutely not. I want the real deal, not some mass-produced junk. Anyone got any tips, leads, or even just a wild idea on where I should be looking??
thanks

Lithography. Is $133 really too little for a print of this caliber?
Thanks

So, I have this Ivan Generalić oil on glass painting. It was broken once and subsequently restored, though you can still clearly see the cracks. Does anyone know how much value a piece like this loses because of it?

My mom claims this was originally a Meštrović piece and has just been repainted. What’s your take on that?

Old wind-up clock, doesn't work. Someone mentioned a Baby clock from 1940—is there any actual value there?
