So, here’s the deal: it’s an oil painting on canvas, about 12x20 inches, dating all the way back to 1961, which makes it one of his very earliest pieces—and yes, it's a genuine original. I’m really hoping to get an expert's take on this, almost like asking a seasoned appraiser at Sotheby's to weigh in, just how much we're looking at in terms of value.

I was wondering if anyone might happen to know where one could go to obtain a professional appraisal for an antique, perhaps something as significant as a historical sword...

Kršinić, First Step—just a mid-range casting here. It’s a 36 cm bronze piece. What kind of asking price should I be looking at for something like this?

Is it an original casting or a mold reproduction? Does it have a signature or anything? Any idea what it looks like...

Hey there! I found this little statue at home, about 40 centimeters tall, but I have no clue what it represents. Could it be some kind of goddess?

I honestly don't know where it came from or anything else about it, so if anyone knows, please fill me in.

The statue is roughly 40 cm high. It shows a woman holding a cat, and her face is partially covered by a cloak that drapes down to the floor behind her. She’s also wearing some kind of medallion on her head.

Here’s a photo:

Hi everyone!

A young man has this painting I’m going to try to upload.
In the signature at the bottom left, it says H. Matisse, and I think I managed to make out the number 90.

We aren't convinced it's an original, but I haven't been able to find anything similar by him online. My art teacher suggested it could potentially be from his early period.

I was wondering if anyone here might know more, or perhaps point me toward someone who could tell me if there's any real reason to doubt its authenticity, or if it might just be a valuable copy.

Thanks.

Hey everyone!
I’m looking for some feedback on these two photos. Both show wood mosaics made from existing paintings.

The issue is I have no idea who created these mosaics, and for one of them, I can't even identify the original artwork.

Leonardo Da Vinci - The Last Supper
I'm not entirely sure about the dimensions 🤷 though it looks pretty large. I'd estimate it at roughly 150 x 70.
image

As for this one, I don't recognize the painting...
dimensions are about 90 x 40.
image

I realize the info I've provided is pretty rough, but I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this. If it helps, I can try to get better photos and exact measurements.

Well, since there are basically two ways to value something—market value versus artistic value—everything really depends on who's doing the evaluating, doesn't it?
Not many people are going to be able to tell you the "artistic" worth of a mosaic, and honestly, finding the market value is even harder.
If your plan is to sell them, then you just have to hope luck is on your side and you stumble upon a collector who actually loves the piece; at that point, whatever they're willing to cough up is probably the most accurate valuation you're ever going to get.

I have a few questions, if anyone might be able to help me out... basically, I was poking around in my attic and found two old books (they're small), and they've actually been kept in great shape—both are written in German. I'm really curious if they're worth anything or what they might go for—honestly, I'm a total novice when it comes to this kind of stuff.

1. The first book is L. Muhlbach - *Mademoiselle Clairon*, published by J.F. Hammerich back in 1861. There's a library stamp on the first page which is pretty visible, but the book itself is in excellent condition.

2. The second one is *Der perfekte Franzose* from 1897.

Oh, and I also have a Saint Sava medal—does anyone know how much that's worth?

If anyone happens to know anything about these items, I would be so incredibly grateful!🙂

I was wondering if anyone here happens to be familiar with the artist A.Dninell,
we have some pieces of theirs and we're just curious to get an idea of what they might be worth...

I suppose I should probably start by saying that I don’t claim to be an expert on this particular subject, but after spending quite a bit of time looking into the details, I feel like there might be something worth discussing here. It’s one of those topics where you can’t really jump to conclusions without considering all the different variables involved, which can get a little overwhelming if you aren't careful. In my view, it seems like we might be overlooking some of the finer points. Maybe it’s just me, but I get the impression that if we took a more measured approach—perhaps looking at how similar situations have played out in places like Chicago or Seattle—we might find a more balanced perspective. I guess what I’m trying to say is that things aren't always as black and white as they first appear, and I think it would be wise for us to tread a little more carefully before settling on a final opinion. It feels like there's a lot of nuance to unpack, and I'd prefer to take my time with it rather than rushing toward a consensus that might not be entirely accurate.

Hannah Alvarez7 said:I’ve got this painting at my place—it was a gift from my dad's godfather, who came from one of those old-money, high-society families back in the Austro-Canadian era. It’s framed in this fancy gold frame, though you can barely make out the signature... just a depiction of Mary holding the baby Jesus.
My mom isn't even thinking about selling it, but when this historian swung by to check it out, he basically said he couldn't give a solid price because it's worth way too much—he just suggested we take it "somewhere" to get it appraised properly. So, where the hell is "somewhere"??? Or maybe someone here could do me a solid and tell me if I should just snap some photos and post them?

If you're looking for an appraisal in a major hub like New York or Chicago, you'd head to a museum or a specialized gallery, but since we're talking about finding a spot to get things checked out, you might try reaching out to a local fine arts institute. If the piece is actually damaged and needs some serious TLC, there are specialty restoration studios that handle those kinds of assessments for free just to get you in the door, and then they can hook you up with the actual conservators.

Does anyone here actually have a clue what kind of market we're looking at for pieces by Rogač or Bijelić B.?

Rogač - they're selling for about $0.33 so, honestly, I’d say you might hit $33 at most—but then again, if we're talking about different formats, you could definitely pull in more net profit. Of course, that's assuming we're looking at the same author.

Does anyone happen to know roughly what Ivan Mirković's paintings are worth these days?

Honestly, it all depends on what you've got sitting in front of you—prices vary wildly based on the specific piece.
And just a heads up, those prices you see floating around online? They don't really reflect what’s happening in the actual market right now.
For instance, someone like Klement Menci Crnčić—who’s way more sought after than Mirković these days—can easily fetch anywhere from $1,500 to $2,000 for decent, large-scale oils if you find the right buyer.
