Art appraisals/valuations?

A bit of a SOS here... I just found an old German knife at home. It's a Solingen Equator, still in its sheath which features an American Indian crest and a Mannheim logo. There's also this lion head made of some kind of metal—maybe silver? I’m trying to figure out if this thing actually has any value. I’ve been scouring the web, but I can’t find anything concrete about it.

Sorry for crashing the party, maybe a bit off-topic... but I’ve got a question for anyone who might know their stuff (since I definitely don't).
I've got this old World Atlas sitting at home—from back in the Austro-Canadian era (1876), actually—and it's in pretty decent shape.

Does anyone have a clue what that kind of thing would be worth in today's money😉? Like, any idea on the value...

I have this little pocket altar—sort of a piece of old-school German folk art—and I’m trying to figure out what I actually have here. Does anyone happen to have a link for a specialized auction house or an appraisal service over in Germany? Or, if any of you collectors here might know, could you give me a ballpark idea of its value?







In terms of dimensions, the piece is about 9.5cm tall and 5cm wide, though it opens up to about 10.5cm.
It dates back to the 19th century—traditional German folk art.

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone here knows where I can go to get some legit, high-quality appraisals for some 18th-century paintings? Like, do art restorers or conservators actually handle the valuation side of things, or is that a totally different beast? And seriously, can anyone point me toward a reliable institution or maybe even a specific expert in the States that I could reach out to?

As far as I can tell, frozenfox842 is really the only one who actually has any reputation around here and actually gets respected.

I can't find any solid info online. On one hand, you hear stories about him selling paintings in the States for hundreds of thousands of dollars, but then you look at eBay or some local American auction sites and see his work listed for next to nothing—maybe just a few hundred bucks. It’s all over the place, I guess.
Honestly, that’s just basic, isn't it? It’s not even clear to me why they're doing this. I mean, where on earth are those price gaps even coming from? I guess there might be some logic behind it, but honestly, it feels totally nonsensical. Maybe it's overhead or something, but I don't know... it just doesn't add up.
Look, I’ll be the first to admit it—I’m a total amateur when it comes to this stuff. But honestly, looking at his work, everything just kind of blends together for me. I can't really see the nuance, so I guess I'm just sitting here scratching my head wondering why there's such a massive gap in the pricing. It feels pretty wild to me, I guess.

If you happen to know anything more about this, I’d definitely appreciate the intel. Also, if anyone knows a solid place to offload some gear, let me know—I’m more than happy to work out a commission for the lead.😉

I got this as a gift, and honestly, it looks like it’s at least a decade old, so it definitely isn't new. It’s pretty heavy too, which makes me wonder—I can't tell if it's solid gold or just gold-plated, but apparently, it came from Lourdes!

I just uploaded a photo of my great-grandmother's last dinner. The painting looks to be about 100 years old, done in oils or something similar!
