That goes without saying. And at least one separate bank account per person that the other spouse can't touch.

For sure... what's mine stays mine, what's yours stays yours, and whatever we decide is ours...

I find myself wondering about the nature of connection; specifically, the fact—which I am tentatively assuming—that we don't experience jealousy within friendships, allowing a female friend to share her platonic affection with others quite freely, yet we demand that a partner refrain from expressing even a shred of romantic or erotic devotion to another woman.

You seem quite captivated by this particular topic, not just today, but whenever it surfaces; you have revisited the subjects of jealousy and monogamy countless times now. It makes me wonder: what is the root of this fixation?
Is it a desire to be with multiple women that you simply don't act upon, or perhaps you do practice it but feel burdened by the need for secrecy because your partners are jealous—or is there some other underlying motivation?

Whatever the case may be, it is abundantly clear that this subject draws you in like a magnet.

Our detective has provided some interesting insights. I suppose Sisyphus would simply share his partner.

Sisyphus just loves adding a whole philosophical layer to everything... remember that topic of the day about anal sex 🙂

Personally, I have always felt he would be more likely to share himself entirely.

Is that really a topic being discussed here in the USA?

I actually found myself discussing this exact topic of the day with a younger colleague recently. We were dissecting a situation where an incredibly wealthy father insisted his future son-in-law sign a prenuptial agreement. I told him quite plainly that it was perfectly reasonable, but my colleague took offense, arguing that such things have nothing to do with true love. I countered by suggesting that signing those papers—essentially proving you value the person more than their inheritance—is exactly what love looks like. It’s a bit ironic, though, considering he lives with his girlfriend, who comes from a much more affluent background than he does.

Olivia Smith2 said:While I certainly empathize with those fears, life doesn't really work that way—it's just human nature, isn't it?
We define ourselves through the paths we choose—through rituals, initiations, and all those milestones.
Do "bumps in the road" happen? Of course they do.

But trying to play both sides—or refusing to commit by hiding behind logic like some detached entity—feels a bit childish, don't you think?

I know, because I'm Peter Pan.

Those aren't even fears; they're just basic logic. Staying with someone and loving them for 40 or 50 years is incredibly difficult in this day and age, which is why you don't just throw promises around. Saying "I love you and I really like you" is worlds apart from saying "I will love you and stay by your side until one of us passes away."

The American Catholic Church has such a beautiful liturgy that actually acknowledges when things get messy—even when life is hitting the fan. 🙂

I personally appreciate that. It provides a sense of maturity compared to that elementary school mindset of "I like you because you look cute, and I'm going to obsess over you forever."

Adam Davis2 said:So, is solo play actually a scam? 😳

It isn't strictly necessary to label it that way since there aren't really any "collateral victims" involved in the act itself, but if we are talking about the gray areas of a relationship, then perhaps it is... I mean, I can certainly wrap my head around the idea of being with a partner and watching adult content together, but does retreating to a private room to satisfy yourself by thinking about someone else—whether they are a digital persona or a real-life acquaintance—not subtly imply that your current partner isn't quite enough? Doesn't it suggest that you might just be staying in the relationship out of habit rather than genuine connection?

Yeah, there's plenty of ways to lose everything. People end up walking away from a divorce with nothing left but their underwear...

It seems I have a knack for missing out on all the most amusing threads. 🙄

And what would Sisyphus say about this topic of the day? Would he be far too polite to admit it? 😁

Ashley Vaughn79 said:03.01. Would you rather be the cheater or the one being cheated on?

Well, it's not like people say, "Oh, I could never cheat..." or "My partner would never cheat on me" anymore.

You have to pick one side. 🙂

And since... well, the answer to the weekend poll was that she'd rather cheat and explain later.
I guess I'm actually curious about why. 😁

Because life is unpredictable. I want to have a certain amount of my own cash that I can actually rely on when everyone else lets me down or walks away.

Caught him completely off guard, barely made it out in one piece... 😁
