Carl Rivera43 said:Yeah, sure... there’s no point in lying to yourself through massive amounts of silence. Real value comes from recognizing what's actually good inside you... like how a stream flows into a river, then a bigger river, maybe a lake, or even the sea... and the sea connects to the ocean... one drop leads to everything... brick by brick, building a palace...

Does lying to yourself actually make sense, Carl? Does it preserve character? Is autosuggestion some kind of high-value tool for self-improvement? If you lack the will or just can't pull it off, how is a person supposed to recognize—or keep recognizing—what's "wrong" with them? What if they find out they were built from that exact mess? What kind of person are they if they realize it, or heaven forbid, embrace it permanently? It’s like pulling the rug out from under yourself; it’s a raw look at a human being. A tiny glimpse of creation. Maybe connecting to some collective understanding in the ocean of creation wasn't comfortable enough, so we just made up a bunch of clever talk instead. We pushed creation into this one-way, superficial thing. At least now our fingers aren't constantly digging through someone else's guts...

It’s nothing more than a collective, self-indulgent ego trip masquerading as "creativity." We’re all just sitting here waiting to see if the author can actually produce something better than the absolute garbage he just dumped on us. If he can, fine—he gets his applause and his little gold stars. If not? Who gives a damn? He’s just another talentless hack going through an identity crisis.
Some of history's greatest legends channeled their pain into greatness, but him? What noble or worthwhile thing has actually come from his suffering?
An "artist," my foot. Give me a break!

Besides the username—which could've easily been "Rocky Balboa, Ainslee555, or Mirko Gnjurac"—where did this young "artist" actually prove he's one? When did he even mention art in the first place?

If you really wanted to know... if something or someone reminds you of that, or those, or... it doesn't make it true. It’s lazy to just pigeonhole people like that. You think you've got them figured out, but you're probably just projecting. It's nothing more than some mental masturbation to feed your own ego while you sit up there in your little ivory tower. Shitting on everything from a height doesn't make you smart, it just makes you a loser living in a fantasy you built yourself. Maybe not every "quality" thing is actually high quality...

What does my random rambling have to do with some "established artist"? Did I ever claim to be an artist with a degree or whatever? If I don't have the credentials, am I supposed to just shut up, stay humble, and be grateful that some jerk sitting in a high position is deigning to grace me with his bullshit? Waving a diploma around like it makes him authentic. Or maybe it's just a signal that he's done talking crap and is moving on to wiping his ass. With that paper. Waste of good wood. Too much drama, even for me...

Is that freaking Pedobear on your avatar?

You could have said all that in two sentences. Like everyone else on this thread, I offered my own take: that a person can partially believe they are sick and decide they can—perhaps even must—work on themselves. A doctor or a pill won't solve everything; I know that from experience. And getting lost in "art," if we want to be optimistic, isn't exactly great for the psyche either. Ultimately, sometimes you need someone to come along and pop your bubble. Again, speaking from experience. But people come here just to hear their own thoughts echoed back to them, and if they don't get that validation, they start spitting venom. It's unrealistic to think anyone can actually help. Just empty slogans.

As for art, yeah, if you don't have the training, you're mostly just talking nonsense. Having a foundation in history and comparative study is essential to being an artist. Solid technical skill is the most important thing; it's the line that separates a theorist from someone who actually has the ability to create. Without the skill, the theory is worth zero anywhere in the world. Sure, you can call it a hobby, but these grand speeches about "artistic character" while drawing parallels to self-destruction are honestly laughable. You all are so romantic about your idea of art, it’s almost sweet.😁

That's not a creep on the avatar; it's just some random guy in a top hat and a monocle.👍

I'm scared she might suggest hospitalization or refer me to someone else... since she's a psychotherapist, maybe I need a psychiatrist instead. She's actually helped me quite a bit, and I don't want to risk losing her support...

For me, just showing up to talk to someone is a huge step. So no, it isn't pointless... it's just one more way I'm trying to pull myself through this...

Could you explain? I'm not sure what you mean...

Are you currently taking any medication?

It might actually be best to tell her that your condition is more serious than you're letting on. That way, you could potentially receive some therapy that would truly help you.

That’s just going to mask the symptoms. The root problems will still be sitting right there.

I honestly think it’s more about the actual expertise and the grind behind the document than just the piece of paper itself. On the flip side, I don't exactly view a degree from an Ivy League school or some fancy art academy as a golden ticket to success either... nothing's guaranteed...

With the right therapy, he might find it easier to face those challenges.

Besides, we don't know much yet. Even in this thread, the author hasn't shared many details about himself.

Why jump straight to medication? Honestly, I’d rather see him sit down with a psychologist first and get a real professional opinion. Skip the pills for now because they can cloud things up—you don't want to lose sight of what's actually happening. He could even go to two different therapists just to get a second opinion. See what they both have to say before making any big moves.

You’re spot on.
He did mention something about avoiding certain paths because the risk of disappointing himself or others might drive him to the brink of self-destruction.

Personally, I don't think his username is half bad, but why waste time guessing? Let's just put him on the spot.

@ Emily Rivera45, are you actually an artist, or is it just a feeling?

darkjackal7 said:The truth is, you’re actually having a blast being alone with your self, yet your biggest fear is losing your audience. Oh, right... the massive ego inherent in every artist.
Honestly, maybe everyone *should* give up on you; otherwise, you’ll never learn to clean up your own mess.
It isn't some dramatic curtain call where you’re left standing alone on a Broadway stage, playing out some theatrical fantasy. It’s about cleaning up your own shit.
Damn, it really makes a person want to throw in the towel when they realize their suffering isn't being recognized as some profound, original artistic expression.
I'm not surprised you're depressed.
Being alone is perfect. That’s when it becomes a binary: you either exist, or you don't. If you can't impress your own self, you aren't impressing anyone.
That seems to be the core of it.
Is that what you're actually terrified of?

Fears have this incredible tendency to manifest. And honestly, being terrified isn't a bad thing. It can be a healing experience, truly. Because that's when, and only then, all the masks finally fall away.

I'm trying to follow your drift... just out of curiosity, where did you pick up all that experience? Have you been on this same path before, or something similar...?

What would you suggest... if I wanted to just step away from everything for a while...?

Jose Ward4... said:When a guy gets sick... especially when it hits his head. You just never know what else might be spinning around in there...

Jose Ward4... said:Maybe that’s how it looks to some, but believe me, I said this to myself in a perfectly calm tone... The reality is that some people are just born predisposed to evil. They're simply built that way. You could provide the most perfect upbringing imaginable, but if it’s impossible to fix them, they'll still find a way to screw you over. It shows right from the start. Some individuals are just naturally inclined toward crime and other darkness. There are people who crave hurting others, regardless of their environment or how they were raised. You can have the best parents in America, but a person can still turn out to be a psychopath... That's why I called him mentally ill. Who knows what else he's capable of, or what actually goes on in his head... I'm telling you, even with the best parents in the world, someone can still end up a psychopath...

I am truly done with all this constant finger-pointing. Malicious? Where exactly? Point to one single post where I was ever being malicious... And then take a look at what some of you people say to me here, or even the private messages I get from certain patients. I choose to stay quiet and ignore it all politely, yet somehow I’m the one labeled as the villain... Maybe I am emotionally unstable, but if I decide to walk away, I'll do it quietly without causing anyone trouble. You all act like parasites, constantly tearing things down, which is exactly why society is so broken... It’s driven by people who have absolutely no empathy for others. Disgusting...

I'm not looking to take anything. I don't even know what I would take in the first place. Antidepressants aren't for me, since I'm not constantly feeling down... What I need isn't medication to get through the day, but rather different ways to outsmart my own mind. To find ways to correct those deep-seated patterns buried in my subconscious...

The Maystor... said:Do you always enjoy sticking labels on people like this...

👍 If only people realized how much damage they cause with such nonsense... maybe things would be different. Or perhaps I’m just being naive... ☕

Well, yeah. Exactly. Even saying "let's just hope" isn't meant to be provocative—it's just gathering data for...

How could it even be possible... in some parallel universe... that you all cooked up this whole debate about my artistic talent using nothing but your own imaginations? Only for it to turn out I'm not an artist at all? No way... ☕

Did your doctor actually suggest you stop the antidepressants, or is this just something you’ve decided on your own? They don't just target depression, you know. There are plenty of other medications out there that might actually be more appropriate for what you're going through.
By the way, just to make things easier on us, what kind of art do you do? How active are you in that scene? Is it your full-time career or more of a hobby? And, perhaps more importantly, what do you actually do for a living? Are you even happy with your line of work?
