So, I was trying to pay via code yesterday and it just wouldn't work.
Tried a different site too, still nothing.
Turns out what was the issue? The damn dark mode!
PayPal doesn't process payments if you have dark mode turned on.
As soon as I switched back to light mode, the payment went through instantly!
Just a heads-up for everyone else.

It’s unbelievable. I tried moving funds from my PayPal account and couldn't get it to work no matter what I did... thanks for the help.

I had a cracked screen, so I reached out to my aunt over at The New York Times to see if it was actually an issue—she told me it doesn't matter as long as the background stays white.
I suppose she’s dealt with her fair share of dark mode glitches before 🙂.

How did you guys manage to get the dark mode working in Cash App? My screen is still blindingly bright, and I can't find a single setting to switch it over (even though I've already got dark mode enabled on my phone)...

I ran into some trouble. I used to just use my Mastercard through the Federal Reserve, but when I tried switching over to Cash App, they kept asking for my full name. It took three emails back and forth before I finally got them to understand what kind of card I was using.☕

I think there's a setting on Samsung devices that forces dark mode across all apps.
Nezz, I'll definitely check that out.

Yeah, on a Samsung you can just set everything to dark mode—or have it kick in automatically once the sun goes down. I guess.

So, I finally grabbed a card, and I'm already seeing a major flaw. Since these things are physical, they have a fixed expiration date printed right on them—mine says it expires in October 2025. Which means—get this—it doesn't even have three years left. If someone picks this up in the middle of summer, they’re looking at barely two and a half years of use. Maybe they plan on pulling unsold stock off the shelves every six months to swap in fresh batches, but honestly, that sounds like a total money pit. It'd probably be way more efficient if they just switched over to virtual cards.

I don't know what kind of calendar you're living by, but I guess there's still about three years and nine months left until October 2025.

😵 Ugh, man... I honestly thought we were already in 2023.

If I’m getting this right, you can't just type in a routing and account number on Cash App to send money or pay for stuff.

Also, is there any way to scan a QR code found next to an account number to buy something or make an online payment?

What kind of QR code are we even talking about here?
The only way to pay is by using a PDF417 code—you know, the standard used on official bank forms and payment slips...

Does that generated barcode for cash deposits only work while it's actually up on the screen, or can I just grab a screenshot and pay later after I've closed the app? I guess I already asked something similar, but I'm wondering if anyone's actually tried this—like, for real. I'm asking because the code seems to change every single time I generate it.

Like this QR code.

I guess I’m talking generally about paying through online stores, rather than just settling utility bills.

From what I gather, no. And honestly, I don't think it's even necessary. It seems to me that Cash App probably has deals with the companies you pay your bills to. So, I guess it isn't really about scanning a code, but more about which companies Cash App chooses to let you pay without extra fees and which ones they don't.

Anyone actually tried that? Anyway—top ups from Cash App to Chime or keks Paya work fine. Tried it myself, works like a charm, though you obviously need a card.

You can just take a screenshot, kill the app, and go completely offline... payments still go through without a hitch.

Following the rollout of keks Pay, Cash App has officially landed at the USPS.

Across our network of over 1,000 post offices, you can pay for services and products however you want:
* digitally – via the keks Pay or Cash App mobile apps
* with various credit and debit cards, or just plain old cash.

Using Cash App at the post office is a breeze. Every single one of our locations has a QR code displayed right at the counter; just scan it with your phone when you're ready to pay.

With digital payments at our branches, you can cover:
* retail items (excluding HAC ENC vouchers, mobile carrier e-vouchers, or lottery tickets)
* postal services
* FedEx express delivery services
* philatelic products.

I actually downloaded Cash App myself—why bother dealing with the hassle of heading down to the post office? These days, you can barely step foot inside a USPS branch without some sort of official clearance or special ID, and frankly, I’m just not looking to jump through those kinds of hoops! So, having Cash App as an alternative for paying my bills is absolutely brilliant.
As for my incoming packages, I’ve made it crystal clear to all my senders: if they ship via the postal service, I am not trekking down there to pick them up unless the mail carrier brings them right to my doorstep!
