If I use my Mastercard to pay off my bills, will there be some kind of visible transaction record somewhere, and am I going to receive a confirmation once the payment goes through?

You aren't even using a Mastercard here; you’re paying straight through the PayPal app, regardless of whether you actually own a card or not. The payment shows up right in your transaction history, and if you need proof, you can just download the confirmation as a PDF.

That sounds even better to me.
One last thing, regarding those same bill payments being fee-free, I was wondering if there's some kind of introductory period involved or if that's just how it stays permanently?

Thanks so much for all the help!

They haven't officially dropped a date yet, but I highly doubt this is going to drag on forever. It’s already been dragging on for months...

analogjackal11 said:@indigo258 Have you ever tried topping up your PayPal using an AirCash card?

Does anyone happen to know if this $1667 payment limit is a daily thing or more of a monthly cap?

ironcyclist58 said:It's daily.

Actually, doesn't even look like it's daily... feels more like it's per transaction. I managed to top up over 5,000 in a single day without any issues...

This really ought to be converted to a PDF for the bank, insurance companies...

Anyway, yeah, it’s prepaid.

As for the Visa card, I have a question: when you're paying at a store, does it pull funds from PayPal or directly from the account?

PayPal says they charge for it, at least according to what support told me.

Great.

Ended up grabbing this one on Instacart today anyway—curiosity got the better of me.

Added it to my cookie stash without any issues, and it works with Chime too.

Maybe once it's active and synced with the PayPal account, the name will actually show up on there?

It probably will, but how do you actually prove it? Usually, they want you to show the Visa card and make sure your name is clearly printed right on it (which is kind of the whole point of having your name on there in the first place)

I haven't the slightest clue. So, just to be safe, I'm grabbing a Visa card too.

Just a heads up, you're gonna need to head down to a Bank branch to get verified for your Scorecard.

I know. There's also an option for online identification

It’s a real shame that neither of these cards works with Venmo yet—that would have been a total game changer.

And obviously, they'd need to keep those fee-free cash payments going indefinitely, not just as some temporary thing—though who
knows? Maybe they'll surprise us and keep it free forever.

That half-off parking promotion was always going to be unsustainable, I guess.

How do you guys handle bills that don't have a barcode? About two months ago, I moved some money over to my PayPal and realized there isn't an option to pay bills by manually typing in the details. I know you can generate a barcode online, but is there any other way to get this done?

Nah, you can only generate a barcode; there isn't even an option to just type it in manually.

I guess you could actually use this tool to help https://knee-cola.github.io/generator-opce-uplatnice/ to get it done.

From PayPal...

With the card, you have to withdraw the money to PayPal first
so you can spend it via PayPal and use the card that way.

😁
How are you supposed to show your name when you're just paying with your phone???

Using just a phone? I’m talking about those times when you're trying to link cards to a fintech app for a top-up. Take Chime, for instance—they used to demand that the card wasn't prepaid, that it was a physical one, and that it actually matched your name. To verify it, they had me snap a photo of the card where you could see my name and the last four digits (you have to cover up the rest)... I don't know if they still do that. Then there's Apple Pay, which also wants everything in your name, but as far as I know, they aren't as picky about virtual cards, so I'm not even sure how the verification process works for those. Even Cash App asked me to take pictures of the cards I added, though they didn't explicitly say my name had to be visible... honestly, who knows how they'd handle it if it wasn't a physical card in the first place.
