Same issue here. I get through everything until that error pops up saying "unable to retrieve certificates... check Java console" or whatever that nonsense means. My certificates are valid, the app isn't even responding, but it just sits there stuck on "signing in progress." Anyone figured this out yet?

So, I ran into the exact same thing—eventually, some guy from Microsoft jumped on a call with me and figured out their software was just totally glitched. He patched a quick fix into the program for me the next day, and now everything is running smooth as silk. Just call Microsoft and don't take no for an answer...

Just a quick heads-up for everyone: starting July 1st, 2017, any business required to follow fiscalization rules must submit their commercial space details and information regarding their software provider or maintainer electronically. This is all being handled through the IRS electronic service, as mandated by Articles 19 and 19.a of the Cash Reporting Act.
Does anyone know how we're actually supposed to send this over to the IRS? I'm wondering if there will be a specific form provided, or if it's still too early to actually get anything submitted before the July 1st deadline hits?

Right now? There's no way. They'll probably just drop the requirement on us through the IRS portal at the very last second.😁

From what I can gather, it seems like I was supposed to send a message directly to the IRS... but I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to actually send a message through the app. I feel like I've scrolled through every single menu and setting, yet I just can't seem to find that specific option anywhere... maybe I'm just losing my mind a little bit, haha...

The IRS finally weighed in on those issues with the new lower tax estimates for the tourism season
🙏
Due to some technical glitches, we can't send out the forms for the reduced tax estimates just yet—we're working on a fix as we speak.
They'll let everyone know once things are back up and running.
🙏

I was just about to jump on here and vent about City Hall! Seriously, I was teaching a class on client management about two weeks ago, and everything was running perfectly fine with those 2017 rate reductions applied.
So, what on earth were they doing messing around with the system all of a sudden? 😠
edit: I just saw some posts in a Facebook group too—turns out the forms are going through if the income is under $500k, but once you hit the higher brackets, everything just breaks.

Can I actually grab my tax card through the IRS portal?
My old boss is being a total pain and won't hand over my paperwork, but my new job is insisting I turn in my tax withholding info. I know you can technically walk into an IRS office and get a copy in person, but is there any way to just pull it up online via the IRS site instead?

The IRS portal is actually built for business owners, not regular folks—you’re probably thinking of the standard government login site.
As of right now, those features just aren't available there. You're still gonna have to show up at the local IRS office in person.

You actually don't send it through the IRS portal itself, but rather through the point-of-sale application used at the register. In the app, there's an option to send a message to the IRS under the business location registration section, specifically where they added fields for the software developer or maintainer. They had this included in the very first version of the fiscalization rollout, then they pulled it out, and now they've gone and put it back in...
Nothing ever stays the same, change is really the only constant we have ...........

As far as I can tell, that isn't actually correct. It doesn't come from the software; it comes directly from the IRS website, where they'll eventually publish the official form.

Is anyone else getting absolutely wrecked trying to file their sales tax returns? I’ve been banging my head against the wall with this whole process... I go through the entire thing, type in every single detail, hit the button to sign, and then—BAM—this stupid error message pops up: "If a return has already been submitted for this period, this one will overwrite it." It’s driving me insane because I haven't successfully sent a single one! As soon as that message hits, the system just wipes out everything I just spent an hour typing in. I've tried it on different computers and browsers, but it's the same nightmare every single time. Does anyone have a clue what's going on here? Please, if you've figured this out, help a guy out.

That error message you're seeing? It’s totally useless. Honestly, whoever coded this software clearly didn't know what they were doing.
The real issue is that you aren't saving the individual line items. At the end of each row, there's a little icon—I think it's a green floppy disk. Once you type in the data, you have to click that icon to save what you just entered. You can't skip this, because the form doesn't automatically total everything up for you. Just watch out for that. Basically, once you fill out a row, click that side icon to save it, and you should be good to go.

When I’m working through the VAT return on the IRS portal, sections I.1 and I.2 are completely blank for me, which makes sense. However, once I hit sections II.1 and II.2, I’m essentially stuck; the system won't let me enter anything because there isn't a dropdown menu or a field to select the type of ID—like an SSN—nor a field for the state. It just keeps throwing an error message saying the number type hasn't been entered, and I have a strong suspicion it would probably complain about the missing state information too if I could even get past that stage...

I was looking at my tax portal earlier and noticed that several sales tax forms are still listed as being processed, even though they were supposedly finalized quite some time ago... I wonder if this is just a normal part of the system's lag?
How has your experience been with the processing times lately?

You just need to click "refresh status" on the right side of the screen, and then it should correctly display that they've been processed.

Hey there. I’ve been trying to file my sales tax for a few days now, but the system just won't let me past the PIN entry stage. Every single time, I get this error message saying the website can't be reached, suggesting it might be temporarily down or moved to a new URL. I'm using the exact same tax-start page I've always used, so I'm not sure why it's suddenly blocking me... I even tried following the other links suggested by the search results, but it's the same dead end every time.
I’m looking for some guidance on how to proceed or if there's a specific direct link I should be using to actually get through to the portal.
Thanks in advance!

Listen, people, when is this supposed expansion of the IRS service offerings actually going live? Or has it already happened? There’s been some talk about these new certificates being issued, but frankly, I can't make heads or tails of it.

Are you talking about the IRS online system or just the general citizen portal stuff?
The citizen side of things gets updated every now and then. For instance, you can grab a criminal background check through there lately.
