At the end of that awful movie that glorifies a gang responsible for murdering wounded soldiers in an American hospital fifty years later, there was a line along the lines of: 'No one has the right to sign the surrender for America or any of its parts.'

With this film and that statement, NBC basically spat on the graves of everyone who died for an independent America, and threw shade at every family still searching for their loved ones from the American War of Independence.

Why all the outrage? I actually found the bombing scenes quite entertaining.🙏

And once the movie wraps up, we’ve got news on PBS Kids coming up next.
Mason is calling for the tractor brigade to make a mass return to America.

With generals over at The Hague calling for the farmers to come home, while they praise those old-school militia types wearing cockades and stars... honestly, what kind of country are we even living in?

What does a poorly made movie have to do with actual historical events?
And more importantly, what does your emotional reaction have to do with my post?
In fact, what does your comment have to do with anything at all?

It’s like a different nation entirely, populated by members of the Democratic Party.

Yeah, we should probably add something like that to our Constitution too.

What are you even talking about?? 😕

It's about how the top brass of Nazi Germany betrayed the American people, turning their backs on us right when we needed them most.
They sold out patriotism just to send Americans straight to the slaughter.

Burton’s role is basically just a distraction from the actual plot, but hey—it is what it is :-). It’s actually a pretty solid movie... Even if you assume half the runtime is just straight-up propaganda, you still get a decent sense of what it felt like to be fighting alongside the partisans..

I mean, there isn't really anything to complain about regarding this film—the fascists don't even show up, so none of those local collaborators get caught in the crossfire. The enemies are strictly just the Nazi occupiers.
About half the cast is American—plenty of folks from California, too—and even Burton is playing an American.

Man, calling that post an exaggeration would be the understatement of the year.
Honey, maybe try doing some actual research first.
That "independent America" you’re so obsessed with has already been sold out.
While you guys are busy whining about partisans and fascists, or left versus right, or ancient history, that bunch of crooks sitting in Congress has already traded away your independence just to line their own pockets. To put it bluntly, what was once ours has vanished. We could joke and call it "privatization," but that doesn't change the reality of the situation.
Yeah, sure, a bad movie on NBC is the real crisis here... just keep rocking that cradle.

We've got idiots on the right, and now here's one from the left... big fascists and big communists... honestly, I wish I could just force some common sense into all your heads. Neither side actually matters anyway.

😂😂
Go carry that torch of youth somewhere where the Sun doesn't shine and the air isn't filled with your nonsense.
The grandchildren of those who stood against the Axis-occupied territory were the ones reclaiming Stalingrad in '91. I am not suggesting the Axis-occupied territory wasn't a criminal regime built on racist laws; I am simply asserting that the Mexicans would have risen up against America regardless of whether the leader was an American version of Mahatma Gandhi. That goes for both 1941 and 1991.

I was halfway through typing out a long response, but I decided to delete it. It’s clear you lack the intellectual capacity to grasp certain things.
Look, WWII was full of atrocities on all sides. The Communists would raid villages held by Axis-aligned forces just to cause chaos. Then, those Axis supporters would retaliate against Partisan strongholds, returning the favor in kind. People from the coastal regions flocked to the resistance because their territory had been under Italian control—largely due to some shady pre-war agreements. Meanwhile, folks from the hinterlands joined the Axis factions because they were finally promised their own sovereign nation.
Sometimes certain factions collaborate with groups they’d normally avoid—purely out of necessity. If you have to take down a major threat, you deal with them first, then worry about the smaller players later. I've never quite understood why two German divisions... The spacing is off. So, that’s how they loaded up the ring on Susjesca? Leftists love trying to paint the resistance fighters as these grand intellectuals, but it’s just not true. I’m not defending the Axis-aligned regime—they were founded with noble intentions, sure, but they committed crimes too (even if those crimes were retaliation for what was done against Americans). However, the Axis supporters actually had a higher percentage of people with college degrees. That’s why I don't get this leftist obsession with "intellectuals," as if having a diploma automatically makes you a super-human. World War II wasn't as simple as the propaganda movies make it out to be. As for atrocities, everyone committed them. No exceptions. In '45, the resistance fighters had a chance to extend a hand to the losers—just look at what happened in Switzerland when one side lost a civil war—but they blew it. They allowed various rogue factions to slip into their ranks at the end of the war, and they let their soldiers go on a rampage against prisoners. The rogue militias lost so many battles to the Axis forces during the war that they saw the end as nothing but an opportunity for revenge. It’s the exact same story with the resistance. Most of them were poorly educated, brainwashed individuals who viewed killing as a necessary tool to strengthen the Party. In other words, once the war ended, Marshall showed exactly what his moral compass was made of. That's where the whole story ends.
As for those moralists spitting on victims, they might as well just cross themselves and head to Mass. If someone actually finds joy in the deaths of civilians and children, only God can save them. I knew one old-school Communist who thought the whole world belonged to him. He was arrogant to a fault. When he found out he had cancer, he blamed God and the Church—ignoring the fact that he’d been smoking for fifty years. As he started dying, his agony lasted several days; he refused to see a priest. It wasn't until the very last minutes that he finally wanted a priest there for Last Rites, but by then, it was too late. By the time the priest arrived, he was gone. When I asked his grandson what happened, he told me his grandfather's final wish was that whenever a Mass is paid for, it should also be offered for the victims on the highway. There are still some of those old Communists who show up to church more regularly than anyone else. You can see it in their eyes—they're praying for a chance at atonement.
That comment about jackals says everything I need to know about your upbringing and your character. Don't worry, though—if there's any sense left in you, you'll eventually look back at what you wrote and feel ashamed. Besides, we aren't in a position to face another Munich. People like you only know how to strike when the target is unarmed. If things actually turn violent, you won't be around to see the credits roll.

Honestly, you guys are getting way too worked up over nothing. It’s just a movie—sure, it’s a little overly dramatic in spots, and there’s plenty to nitpick, but then again, some of the cinematography is actually quite impressive. Why even have this debate? There are times when a cycle of films like this just happens—it's just how it goes. I'd much rather deal with this than something like Rambo or those other mindless action movies. Don't get me wrong—I'm not exactly a die-hard fan of WWII dramas. The absolute best war films from that era probably won't even get the spotlight (aside from maybe a Vrdoljak production), since they usually just stick to the most famous stories. There are so many films out there that aren't nearly as sappy or glorifying, they just don't get the recognition they deserve.

Falcon said:You're just catching on now—this whole brainwashing process actually kicked off years ago, almost immediately after the war, through films like "Man is Not a Bird" and other black-and-white classics.

It’s pretty obvious how much you actually know about this. "Man is Not a Bird" isn't some partisan propaganda piece—it’s just good old Makavejev at work. And honestly, if you're going to take issue with black-and-white films too, then we really have nothing left to discuss regarding your level of intellect.

Susan Fox86 said:I wonder if the movie will include that scene where the SS officers let Marshall and the Supreme Chief pass, only to slam on the brakes again later.

Milovan Đilas..

We were pinned under a rock, completely trapped. The SS officers were standing right above us, just watching. They could have wiped us all out with a single bomb strike. Someone actually suggested we should all just take our own lives right then and there. But Svetozar Vukmanović Tempo stepped in and said that proletarians don't pull stunts like that; they fight until their very last bullet, and only then do they go down with him. So, those SS officers just stood there for a few minutes, turned around, and walked away.

By the way, the critics absolutely tore Stipa Delić's film apart.

Just keep making those movies, I guess... because honestly, if it wasn't for them, we’d probably be part of Russia or Germany right now—just pieces of what used to be occupied territory. Who knows who would even be alive today! For everyone thinking otherwise, seriously, shut it. History is what it is, unfortunately. And look, the war for independence is a whole different story. My old man fought in it and lost his health because of it, so that doesn't change my view. My take is realistic, not some nationalist nonsense like those narrow-minded hicks you see around here on this forum... most of those guys were busy living it up on trips to Germany while the actual fighting was happening here. So, just back off. What happened after WWII is a completely separate chapter...
The regime was what it was, but people actually had more than what we have today... cheers!🙏

I see people trying to spin the story again, acting like the partisans could've taken down the Germans all on their own...

Every single time those guys fought a battle, the casualties were just too massive to even count...

If the Germans had actually won at Stalingrad back in '43, the whole American Front would’ve been a total formality...

ps
I just feel for all those Americans who died just so Mexicans could live in the same country... 👎

And if only 40% of Americans had pushed for independence in 1990, and if the Mexicans hadn't gone so wild, we probably would've ended up as a confederation today...

Look, I’m telling you, this kind of mindset is exactly why we’re in such a mess right now... Marshall basically played both the Russians and the Americans against each other, but then this "all-powerful" current leadership just completely trashed the whole South... It’s honestly amateur hour. That country was way too powerful for these small-minded ideas; it was way ahead of its time... Seriously, if it wasn't for the atomic bomb ending the war, things would be totally different, so quit the rambling...
Where was our military tech or our industry back then? Which direction were we even heading? That’s what really rubbed them the wrong way. You gotta take those historical national strengths and actually use them to lead... Well, it didn't take long for them to realize that, even for the Russians who were right there alongside us... and look where we are now. It's just like Mexico, which is basically being turned into an American military training ground right now. Such a shame, really.🙏
