Don't tell me you're actually going to break down in tears after just one month of trying? 😲😲😲

Any conception that happens within a year is perfectly normal—it varies from person to person; some people conceive in their second or third month, while others might need much longer...

Vanna White... you really need to go get checked out... if your cycle is usually pretty steady and now you're a full month late, that’s a "get to the doctor right now" kind of situation... what if it was a miscarriage? Or maybe it's a pregnancy that can still be saved...

People really need to work on their reading comprehension...

I’m with Anthony Turner32 on this one; you’re likely pregnant, so please just head to the ER. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything turns out okay! 🙂

Are you seriously telling me you're a month late and haven't even bothered to take a pregnancy test yet? Wow. Seriously, go see an OB-GYN right now just to be safe if there's actually a baby on the way!

Here’s the deal... 🙂 My cycles are pretty steady, though they fluctuate a bit between 28 and 32 days. I caught a positive LH surge on day 21—just for one afternoon, then it was gone the next day—so I’m assuming ovulation happened around day 22 or 23. I’m currently on day 33. No period yet, just some pelvic pressure and occasional twinges. Nothing else, not even tender breasts. I took tests yesterday and this morning using those strips from Amazon; both were negative. Then I realized they expired on June 1st. 😂 We’ve been trying for ten months now, so I’d love a baby. Am I just testing too early, or can I actually trust these results? 🤷 😉

Just grab a kit at CVS and you can have it done in just a few days!

Hey, my boyfriend and I have been practicing unprotected sex lately, and honestly, I’m spiraling. Is there actually sperm in that "pre-cum" stuff? You know what I mean... I read conflicting things online—some say yes, some say no—and he keeps insisting there's zero chance I'll get pregnant this way. But the paranoia is hitting me hard. Every time my period is late, I totally freak out, and then the stress makes it even later. Not to mention, I swear I feel every single pregnancy symptom every single time.

Exactly. Forget whatever he’s trying to sell you. Start thinking about yourself and act responsibly. Get some decent protection so you aren't constantly stressed out waiting for... well, you know. This whole thing is just a waste of your energy. ☕

In my experience, there isn't... but if you don't want to deal with monthly panic attacks and waiting around, just use something: birth control, condoms, whatever...
The only way you're getting pregnant is if he loses control and finishes inside.

It is my first time posting here, and I have found your advice to be incredibly helpful, so I would like to share my situation.
My menstrual cycles are somewhat irregular. Recently, I had sexual intercourse with my partner where we engaged in unprotected activity during foreplay before switching to using a condom for ejaculation. This occurred multiple times in one evening.
My last periods began on January 9th, March 16th, and May 24th, typically lasting about four to five days. However, on June 26th, I had unprotected intercourse twice, involving internal ejaculation, and my period has since stopped completely. Given that I am 28 and actively trying to conceive, is pregnancy a possibility in this scenario? Additionally, considering my irregular cycles, when would be the most reliable time to take a pregnancy test?

I wasn't entirely sure which subforum to use, so I'm starting a new thread here..

I think implantation usually happens somewhere between day 6 and 12 after ovulation. You’re probably better off waiting two weeks from when you ovulated to take a test (assuming you tracked it). Based on what I've seen on other boards, it's unlikely you're pregnant—it's pretty rare for someone to ovulate right at the start of their cycle while they're still bleeding.
p.s. Might be out of line, but if you're actually trying to conceive, ditch the condoms. Unless you both want this... 😉

I’m just not following you here. Are you actually looking to start a family? Is he on the same page about wanting a baby? Because if that's the goal, why even bother with condoms in the first place?

So, you’re saying there was unprotected contact back on May 26th?
I mean, is that even feasible... maybe if the odds were stacked heavily against you... were you with M. at that time? And regarding her stopping suddenly 🤷

Look, if you're actually trying to conceive and you're ready for the responsibility, then by all means, ditch the condoms. Just head over to wannabe

nplava As I have noted before, there is a certain elegance in how these discussions unfold when we take the time to truly consider the nuances of the subject at hand. It is quite refreshing to see such a thoughtful exchange occurring here.
I wasn't entirely certain which existing thread would be most appropriate for this particular topic, so I have decided to initiate a brand-new discussion instead.
It is my very first time visiting this forum, and I must say that I am truly impressed by how wonderful everyone’s advice has been so far. Since you all have been such a great resource, I thought I would go ahead and share my own situation to see what you might think...

I have been experiencing some irregularities with my menstrual cycle lately, and I wanted to ask for some insight. My partner and I have been having intercourse without using protection during our initial foreplay, though we do switch to using condoms before he actually ejaculates. We have done this several times in a single evening—essentially warming things up unprotected and then transitioning to a condom later on.
I noticed my cycle dates were January 9th, March 16th, and May 24th, with each period typically lasting about four or five days. However, on June 26th, I had unprotected intercourse twice while my period was actually absent, and in both instances, my partner finished inside me. Given that I am 28 years old and actively trying to start a family, I find myself wondering if pregnancy is a possibility under these specific circumstances. Furthermore, considering how irregular my cycles have been lately, when would be the most appropriate and earliest time for me to take a pregnancy test to get an accurate result? 🤷

Day two of the cycle is proving to be quite difficult, isn't it? It is truly exhausting. Given how long your cycles tend to be, I find myself somewhat skeptical that ovulation would actually occur as early as day seven.

Regarding the test results, I am somewhat uncertain myself; perhaps it would be more prudent for you to wait another two or three weeks before proceeding?

Hey ladies!
I find myself needing some guidance, much like most of you here. My husband and I finally decided to stop waiting and started trying for a baby. Naturally, now I’m just sitting here feeling behind schedule. I am incredibly happy about the decision, but I’m genuinely lost on when I should actually take that first pregnancy test. My cycle usually fluctuates between 28 and 33 days. To give you an idea, my last periods fell around March 15th–19th, April 13th–17th, and May 9th–13th. So far, nothing. I’m experiencing those typical pre-period symptoms—some pretty intense ovarian aches—but nothing out of the ordinary. I keep constantly questioning whether I've already missed it or if it's just coming, but there's no sign yet. Every morning during breakfast, I get this wave of nausea and a bit of dizziness that lingers for about two hours before vanishing for the rest of the day. My breasts feel a little swollen too, though that's a regular occurrence right before my period starts. So, what I really want to know is: when is the best time to take the first test? Is it possible I'm just imagining all of this...
Thanks so much to everyone... :-)

Shouldn't that test be done in the morning? 😕 I’ll admit, I've always been one of those people who tunes out when pregnant women start sharing their experiences, so I'm completely in the dark here...

I did mine at 9 PM. The day after my period was late. Just a cheap drugstore test. Zero errors.😁
