Ladies, I really appreciate all the advice you've shared. There’s so much conflicting noise online—some people say you just have to wait until your next cycle or that you shouldn't even worry unless it's been two full weeks. But if my math is correct, I’m currently on day 36 since my last period started. If my typical cycle usually lands around the 31-day mark, then I'm technically about five days late, right? I feel like an absolute idiot even bringing this up here, and I know you might find it ridiculous, but I just needed to check...😲

They’ll definitely show you this afternoon, assuming you're running about five days behind schedule...

Ladies, thank you all so much for the support... I am honestly screaming internally from the sheer excitement of it all. I had originally planned to wait until my period was at least ten days late before actually diving into testing, but I felt the need to check in with you all first just to see if I’m actually feeling symptoms or if I’m simply imagining things. My husband, on the other hand, is being a bit skeptical—he actually suggested it might be impossible to "conceive on the very first try" in the bedroom, which is just classic him.!!!!!! I think I’ll hold off for a few more days, but I will definitely reach out soon because I’m going to need your guidance through the next steps. You know, whenever there was a party or a get-together where the women would all huddle in one corner to gossip about stuff like this, I was always over by the guys, grabbing a beer and making jokes. So, now that I’ve finally decided to take this path, I feel like I have to learn everything from scratch. Luckily, I have all of you wonderful women and moms here to guide me... Sending kisses, and I’ll be sure to update you once I have news!

Don't just sit there waiting around—go ahead and run a test so you actually know where you stand!

So I had protected sex on June 2nd. I was expecting my period to show up maybe 2 or 3 days from now, but honestly, I’m doubting it because I’ve been dealing with this light spotting and discharge for three days straight. I don't even know what to call it... just kind of brownish stuff. I picked up a test, so I'm wondering if I should just take it first thing tomorrow morning? Does this weird discharge matter, or can I go ahead and test regardless? 😕

Go ahead and take a test if you’ve already got one lying around, because honestly, you might actually see a positive result, plus there's a real chance this heavy bleeding is just implantation bleeding! I don't know what your end goal is since you were using protection, but personally, I just want whatever outcome makes you the happiest!😁

I definitely don't want a baby, which is why we were being careful (condom plus pulling out)... I know it sounds like a total long shot, but maybe there was some tiny little hole in the condom we missed? Plus, you've got pre-cum to deal with, and it happened right during her fertile window... ughhh :/
The bleeding is really throwing me for a loop because my period always shows up right on schedule and it's usually totally normal. Whatever, if I'm actually pregnant, I'll just take a test tomorrow morning 😳

Negative 😁 I think it’s fine since we used protection. Honestly, though, I need to dig deeper into why I’m seeing this brown discharge—basically just spotting, since my periods are usually as regular as clockwork every month. And now suddenly this 😢
Also, I can't get to the OBGYN anytime soon because of my two different addresses 😢

So, I’m 17, and I guess I ended up having sex with my girlfriend... naturally, there was a massive issue because I didn't have any condoms on hand, so we just went for it without protection. My big question now is, what are the actual odds she's pregnant? I mean, the whole thing lasted maybe a minute because I was honestly terrified, and I didn't even ejaculate inside her or anything. Plus, her period finished just two days ago. I'm wondering if there's still a chance she could be pregnant under those circumstances? Her cycle is running a bit late again, just like last month, and I guess I'm freaking out big time... I need to know if I've completely ruined my life or what? 🤷

Before you even think about getting intimate, you really ought to have an answer ready to one vital question: what exactly am I going to do if my girlfriend gets pregnant? Because let’s be real—even condoms fail sometimes. If you haven't even considered that possibility, you aren't actually ready for a sexual life. And hey, if you do end up becoming a father, let me know so you can buy me a drink. 😉

By the way, she might be pregnant from pre-ejaculate. Do some actual research on Google. 👋

It’s certainly possible, though it isn't a guarantee.
Thank God we have diagnostic tests and gynecologists to turn to, right? There isn't much we can do to help you from this side of the screen, but I will say this: if there is any way at all, please try to handle this responsibly now.
As far as I'm concerned, this is usually the rule of thumb when people decide to skip protection and then end up complaining later because they've completely messed up their own lives. ☕

Come on, people, we’ve all been seventeen at some point. :-) If her period wrapped up just two days before they had sex, she likely wasn't even in her fertile window yet—though, obviously, that depends entirely on how long her cycle is. Just be patient. Even if her period is a day or two late, it doesn't automatically mean she's pregnant; I've had my own period delayed just from the sheer nerves of waiting. The best move is to grab a pregnancy test from a CVS or Walgreens for about ten bucks, but wait until after the date her period was actually expected. Good luck, and try to learn something from this experience!

So, here’s the situation—my girlfriend and I had sex about three days after her period ended. Now, her cycle is running two days late, which is unusual because she’s typically incredibly regular; we haven't dealt with any delays in the last ten months. She’s also complaining about some cramping in her lower abdomen—just below the navel, really—and some slight tenderness in her breasts. Look, I’m certainly no medical expert when it comes to women's health, but I’m asking around because the whole thing is just weighing on my mind—we’re both only 19, and frankly, having a kid is the absolute last thing on our radar right now. We didn't use a condom because she was under the impression that the window 2–4 days after a period ends is a safe zone.
We actually went ahead and took a pregnancy test sometime this afternoon, and it came back negative.
I’d be interested to hear what you all think about this.

P.S. In case it wasn't crystal clear, I'm her boyfriend.

Look, that’s how a guy might think, but honestly? 😲 It never even crossed my mind to say it was "safe" during my period, especially when I was 19 and definitely not looking to get pregnant. ☕

Just so I'm not totally useless here—go buy a test...

I could really use some perspective here. I’ve been married for four years now, and we haven't been using protection. My period is currently nine days late, which is starting to weigh on me. I finally bit the bullet and took a pregnancy test yesterday, but it came back negative... and now I'm just stuck in this limbo. I honestly don't know if I'm pregnant or what the actual odds are at this stage. If the test says negative, but I'm still feeling all these physical symptoms, what does that actually mean? Is it possible for the test to miss it?

Honestly, my pregnancy symptoms and PMS felt exactly the same, so I don't think they're some reliable way to tell what's actually happening. Just retake the test in a few days, and if it still comes back negative, go see an OB-GYN to figure out why your cycle is acting up in the first place.

What kind of symptoms are we talking about here?

It’s not clear if you’re actually trying to get pregnant or not, but if you've been unprotected, yeah, there's a chance.
Also, tests can give you a false negative sometimes. Either grab another one in a day or two, or just go get a blood test at the clinic. If everything still comes back negative after that, then you should probably go see an OB-GYN.

Good luck! 😉
