Jason Ortiz5 said:Nah, mine doesn't hate school. Actually, she loves it. Life is good, her friends are fine (well, except for those guys in her class—total jerks and complete losers 😬)

It's always the same stuff though: parents, house rules, cleaning her room, or the fact that she has to share a bathroom instead of having her own. It's endless drama, constant sulking, and nothing but snarky comments...

Honestly, I don't think mine hates it either, but she just starts spiraling and crying over everything.
She lies and makes things up.
Like, even when she has an awesome day, she'll claim it was terrible, almost like she's trying to drive me crazy. She never wants to show she's actually happy; she just acts like she couldn't care less about anything.
Everything is supposedly stupid or boring, even though she still gets her stuff done and puts in the effort.
She’s just become so exhausting, constantly whining and complaining and staying in this negative headspace.
My kid has turned into a seriously difficult person to live with.
It was such a shock to me, and honestly, dealing with these mood swings and that constant scowl is getting really hard to stomach.
If my husband acted like this, I’d probably be looking into divorce by now.

Every single one of these hormone-driven terrors has their own little way of doing things. But at the end of the day, the result for us is the same—total frustration and a desperate urge to trade the kids in for Golden Retrievers on Craigslist. 😁

People say they'll grow out of it (honestly, if anyone else took them in, they'd probably send them right back and ask for a refund for the emotional trauma 😬). I guess someone had to put up with us, too. At least life is never boring. 😍

Try to take it with a grain of salt and find some humor in it. Believe me, I know it's easier said than done. 🙂

Yeah, true. But then again, I end up forgiving everything the second she runs up to me after I get home from work, gives me a hug, and tells me she loves me "to the moon and back"—and she didn't even ask for anything, not even a cent.

Consider me a new member of the club.😁
My daughter just hit thirteen. We’re all exhausting and difficult now. I’ve even gone full old-school.🙄

She listens to music that's an absolute disaster. It sounds like a funeral procession. I can't even put a genre to it. I used to think there wasn't a song out there I couldn't stand, but apparently, I was wrong.☕

Everything she wears is oversized; if it isn't baggy, she won't touch it.
She spends her life glued to TikTok, acting like she hates the entire world.
And don't expect any affection. No hugs, no kisses—you can barely even touch her without getting a glare.

In short...

She’s way more conservative than I am. Honestly, it’s a lot. Some of her takes just totally catch me off guard—like, she was absolutely horrified when one of my coworker's daughters mentioned hoping her first boyfriend wouldn't be her last. Or when she asked, "Mom, did you have MORE boyfriends before Dad?" 😲

Even when I broke my arm, she was huffing and puffing about how "indecent" it was that my dad was helping me shower. Like, I was naked. 😲

And all that other stuff.

I’m really crossing my fingers that this is just a phase and she eventually grows out of it.

As for the music, I won't even go there. Sure, she knows all the hits from the Top 40 stations, but then she’ll pull up some stuff on YouTube in Japanese or Russian. It’s terrible, really. Though, I suppose at least it isn't country music.
And she’s always watching anime or reading manga. I still don't quite get it—I don't understand the appeal or what the themes are actually about. I know it can get a little freaky sometimes.

I find some really great music on YouTube, everything from old classics to new releases, it's all good 🙏
but the mood swings are just intense; I honestly feel bad for her sometimes seeing how she gets treated. It looks like things are spiraling downward, and I honestly think next year is going to be a critical turning point 😂

Honestly, she sounds pretty cool to me. 😍

I'm actually dying to know what kind of music we're talking about, so if anyone has a link, please send it over 🙂.

Here's a link based on some lyrics I managed to remember. I can Google the rest later.☕

I appreciate that she isn't into that mainstream pop trash or dressing in those tiny skirts. She actually has her own style, I'll give her that.
But look, I'm an old-school club rat 🤣. I just want something with a beat that lets me move. This stuff doesn't work for me.😁

We'll all get through this phase eventually...

this is actually great 😁
I honestly thought they were into Billie Eilish, but this track is such a vibe 😁
just play them "She Past Away" or "Boy Harsher" and you'll definitely be cooler than her 😂

Well, my wife loves anime and manga too! I actually bought her two manga volumes for her birthday. She finished them already, so we're looking for more.
I'm just happy she's reading something. Trying to get her to pick up a book otherwise is pure science fiction.
That seems to be the trend lately.🤔

I know she watched that recent anime series about those guys on skateboards, so we ended up having to buy a skateboard.😵
Before that, it was all about Hunter x hunter.

It isn't exactly modern, even if it feels current 😁
but I had a feeling she might actually like it; there's something nice about the dark aesthetic 😍

My little one has been obsessed with skating lately, too; she’s actually getting pretty good at it, surprisingly.
So, there’s your reason right there.

My interest in skating is back, all thanks to Max from Stranger Things 😁
Luckily, I stumbled upon some great music there too—it’s such a chill series 😂

My daughter watched it too. Now she's just waiting for the next season.☕

If other kids are obsessed with it, they’re probably fine.🤣

Honestly, watching kids these days—and yeah, I know I sound old-fashioned😁—I just feel bad for them.
They can't focus in school, and they don't even know how to hang out properly.
It's just mindless scrolling through TikTok and endless videos.
Basically, if you want to pass the time, you have to stare at a tablet.

Being young today is a waste of time.

I don't know, she hangs out with her friends just like anyone else.
They have sleepovers, walk around the neighborhood, and just act like totally normal kids.
Luckily, she's still too young for bars, clubs, or concerts, so she doesn't realize what she's missing out on.
Aside from training, which is happening at the absolute worst time for her physical development, I guess I'll have to come up with a plan—she’s already bugging me to take her to the gym with me.

Do kids today just not jump rope or play tag anymore? It is a genuine tragedy, because it seems like training sessions are the only way they ever get any movement in their lives.

They should be hiking, walking along the riverwalk, playing basketball or volleyball, riding bikes, skating, hitting the pool, or playing frisbee, badminton, and ping pong...
