Did you vote for joining the UN? (Poll)

Given the mismatch between the referendum results and what the previous poll showed whether to join the EU - final poll, I’m curious about how many actual euroskeptics actually turned up to vote.

I'm starting a new poll here. Primarily, I want to hear from those 550 people who took the last one, though everyone else is more than welcome to join in.

I was against it then, and I'm still against it now. On the old forum poll—if I remember right, there were more than that, and I voted against on all of them—I was one of the first ones at the polling station at the crack of dawn voting "no."

If you wanted actual useful data, you should've left the option to see who voted for what. Then I could've actually compared this to the old public poll.

Just ask the mods to fix the voting system in the poll; if they can't, tell 'em to lock the thread and you'll just start a new one. 😉

Here! If any of the moderators see this, and if you can actually pull it off, could you please add an option to the polls so we can see exactly how everyone voted?

I didn't take part in the last poll, and honestly, I can't even do it now because there isn't an option for my view.

I'm not gonna cast a vote when it feels like choosing between the lesser of two evils... which is just wrong!!

Both options suck and they totally disrespect my right to actually make a democratic choice!

So, I was hanging out on this other niche forum—not really a political space, just a hobbyist group—and I noticed something interesting. It seems like quite a few people were acting all unsure, saying they’d probably vote against it, but then I get the feeling they might actually end up voting for it once they're actually at the polling station.

Why didn't I vote YES?

Because the UN is falling apart—it just protects some global capitalist elite and doesn't give a damn about social safety nets... and in this country, whatever is left will just be sold off, they control everything from agriculture... you name it.

Why didn't I vote NO?

I'm sick of working my ass off for a boss who pays me five times less than some worker in Germany, especially since he won't give me overtime pay and forces me to work extra hours for free.
And because our healthcare system totally wrecked my life with its sheer incompetence and inability to actually find a real diagnosis.
And because they demand mountains of paperwork for projects that would sail through in the UN without any issues, yet I'm still waiting for an answer.
And because people in my own neighborhood are literally digging through trash!
Because my mom can't even afford a decent life after forty years of hard work!
Because the pension fund I poured money into for years got absolutely gutted!

I didn't even bother voting because I don't trust the crooks who have been robbing us blind so far, nor do I trust those frauds in the UN who'll just keep doing the exact same thing.
They're all cut from the same cloth—it's just that Europeans do it with white gloves on.

Trust me, I'd rather move to another planet at this point than just leave the UN.

So yeah, there's your justice, your elections, and your democracy!

Yeah, I guess I just went along with the majority without making a scene—maybe they actually know something I don't... pick your poison, I guess.

Personally, I cast my vote AGAINST (though I find the term "against" rather clumsy—the way they framed that referendum question was quite poorly, or perhaps too cleverly, constructed. So, let's just say I voted no, even if I can't quite pinpoint why... despite how beautifully they marketed the dream of us living on massive estates, traveling through Europe, and strolling through scenic landscapes filled with deer... absolute nonsense.

Don't read too much into this. People who bother filling out online polls clearly don't represent the actual voting population. You have far too many retirees and people who aren't even active online trying to use a digital survey to predict meaningful election results.

The value of using a forum poll to estimate election outcomes is roughly on par with polling Esquimalt locals or a group of toddlers in the USA.☕

Supposedly, there are a few countries running entirely different systems.
Korea and Cuba come to mind.
Look, we don't live in a perfect world.
But sitting on the sidelines and refusing to engage in politics isn't going to fix a single thing.

By the way, I really hope this whole farce regarding the so-called voter registration list finally comes to an end. Look, I realize turnout wasn't great across the board, but there is simply no way to get a meaningful or accurate picture when you're working with data from the current, official voter registration list🙂
