It just goes to show that you don't always need those overpriced, high-end diagnostic kits to get an answer 😉
.

I agree, they don't. That’s why I’m so confused that you got a negative result using first-morning urine, even with one of those pricey tests.

I honestly think price is irrelevant here—it’s all about sensitivity. I once used one of those ovulation strips you order online, and it flagged positive two days before my period was due. Then, just a day later, I grabbed a cheap drugstore brand, maybe something from CVS for around $5.00, and it also came back positive. If your first test showed a plus but this second one didn't, it's probably because that first one is way more sensitive to lower hormone levels. Just wait until tomorrow morning and try again, or head to the pharmacy and find one that works at any time of day—those are usually the ones with better sensitivity.

So, this little Gravignost mini thing claims to be super sensitive—supposedly worth about $11—and says you don't even need to waste cash on those overpriced lab tests.

Anyway, I decided to run one last test yesterday evening because my period is already six days late. It showed negative. Then, wouldn't you know it, things started spotting. If I’d actually had the patience to wait until morning, I probably would've just wasted money on another 😁.

Yesterday afternoon, I took a pregnancy test and there was a second line—it was pretty faint, but it definitely showed up.
Then, I tried an Intim Plus test this morning and that one came back negative.
My period is already three days late.
What do you all think is going on?

Just grab a First Response test and use your first urine in the morning, because isn't that the only way to be certain? It should run you about $13

Quick question for anyone who’s pregnant or has been before 🙂

When did the morning sickness actually kick in for you? Like, how long after conception...

Around week 4 or 5, if you're going by the doctor's math.

For me, I dealt with some mild, intermittent nausea around week 8, but once I hit week 9, things got serious and the vomiting really started.

It began at five weeks, with vomiting occurring at seven, though it always manifested in the evening.🤷

After dealing with seven weeks of constant nausea, I've hit the ten-week mark where vomiting has become a regular occurrence, typically hitting in the afternoons or late evenings.

I really need some advice here 🤷
So, I’m currently in the middle of trying to conceive—well, actually, I think it happened! Ten days ago, my period was supposed to show up, but nothing. I took a test that same day (honestly, I can't even remember which brand I grabbed from CVS), and it was negative. Since my period still hadn't arrived, I decided to try again six days after my expected start date using an Intim Plus test. This time, it showed a positive, but the line was super faint—like, exactly like that "faint" example you see in the instruction booklets 🤷
The instructions have these little diagrams: picture A shows a dark, bold positive (meaning you probably tested several days after your missed period), picture B shows a medium positive (likely testing right on the day your period was due), and picture C shows a weak, faint positive... which also means "pregnancy."
But now I'm overthinking everything. If I am pregnant, shouldn't the line be getting darker by now? It’s been ten days since my period was due, so I figured the hormone levels would be high enough to trigger a much stronger line. Why is it still so pale? Is it possible my hCG levels are just staying low? My OB-GYN won't see me for another ten days—she basically told me there's no point coming in sooner because they wouldn't be able to see anything on an ultrasound yet anyway.
Now I'm just spiraling a little bit, worrying about why that line isn't getting any darker 😕 😕 😕

^^ So why didn't you just grab a different test? I have no clue what those ones run for, but my guess is they're probably double the price of a Gravity... mini. ($11) With this one, even if the line shows up or doesn't, or maybe if the color is a bit less purple than usual, you still know when that second line pops up that we're talking about a positive.

And looking at yours, honestly, even with that faint line, I'm pretty sure it's a positive.

HELP ME! We had sex the day after my period ended. He didn't finish inside, but 😛ar the next day I started getting these weird pains in my lower abdomen. My back is killing me, I've been feeling super lightheaded all day, and I actually threw up while we were out because my stomach just flipped... I haven't taken a test yet... thx

Given that he didn't finish inside you, the odds of you being pregnant are incredibly slim. I also suspect it’s far too early to be experiencing any actual pregnancy symptoms just a few days after the encounter. You should probably wait until the first day of your missed period before taking a test. I’m assuming you aren't pregnant, though I can't say for certain...

So now what, you want us to play detective and guess when your last period was?
If you want an actual answer, you have to be specific. Like, "I had my last period on X date, I expect the next one on Y, and I've been feeling this specific pain for Z days since we hooked up..."

Look, lady, you could have had your last period three months ago for all we know... how are we supposed to figure this out?

Anyway, you can get pregnant starting from the beginning of your cycle. And just because he didn't finish inside doesn't mean there wasn't any fluid released outside. Then you get those little green miracles showing up.

Besides, early pregnancy pains aren't really a thing... there isn't much to hurt yet. Maybe some breast tenderness around the time your next period is due, but even that's rare.

The vomiting thing too? That usually hits around week four. It’s pretty unlikely to be throwing up just a few days after conception.

Wait until you're actually due for your next period to take a test—maybe a day or two after that for a more reliable result. If you absolutely can't wait, you can try on the day of, but don't expect it to be 100% accurate.

I actually did three different tests, all different brands, and every single time it was just a barely visible plus sign.
First test—on the day my period was due.
Second test—two days later.
Third test—two days after that.
And lo and behold, I was pregnant. 😁

I have a quick question... what are the actual odds if he finished inside you (and not just once in a single night), but you happened to miss your pill that day? Basically, how high is the risk of getting pregnant?! It’s impossible, right? I mean, it isn't really that easy, is it?!

Getting pregnant isn't exactly a walk in the park—at least, not for most people. It’s possible, sure, but it can feel a bit like hitting the jackpot in a lottery.
The real question is, how fertile are you actually? My cousin’s wife managed to conceive on both attempts right away. She wasn't on any birth control, but she basically just slept with him once and it worked. Both times, first try. Meanwhile, I’ve been trying for a year now, tracking my ovulation windows, keeping my legs up, sleeping with pillows under my hips, drinking all sorts of herbal teas... and absolutely nothing.
Is your period late?

No, it's not late; it actually just arrived😁. It was just the first time it happened, so the question caught me a little off guard, but everything is fine👍
