Hey guys, is it actually possible for my mood to start tanking after being on the pill for over three years? Like, I’ve really started noticing it just in the last 6 months. I'm on Triquilar, and honestly, by the time I hit the last color of pills in the pack, I’m a total wreck—super irritable, crying over everything, and my sex drive is basically 🤷... But how was everything so great before?

I have a question, and I’m asking for some help... I deal with irregular digestion and I'm just starting on birth control pills. Does anyone know if taking laxatives can actually interfere with how effective the contraception is, and if so, when would be the best time to take my pill? thanks

Which laxative though? There are tons of different kinds out there with totally different ways they work—it’s not all the same thing. And which birth control pill are we talking about?

I take Dulcolax as a laxative in the evening, and by morning, things are moving along. The issue is that on those specific days, every time I eat, I end up needing another trip to the bathroom. Does this frequent movement actually interfere with my birth control, or is it irrelevant whether I take my pill between these episodes?

Laxatives can interfere with pill effectiveness if you have loose stools within 2 to 3 hours of taking it.
Once that window passes, they won't affect the medication because it's already in your bloodstream after passing through the stomach. 🙂

There’s zero interaction between Yasmin and Dulcolax. You can double-check this yourself at: http://reference.medscape.com/drug-interactionchecker or over at http://www.drugs.com/drug_interactions.php
Oral contraceptives usually only deal with interactions from drugs that seriously mess with liver enzymes—stuff that changes how the body processes meds. We're talking certain antibiotics, antipsychotics, antifungals, that kind of thing...

No, the active ingredient in the laxative doesn't affect the pill itself.
However, if the laxative triggers diarrhea within two hours of taking the pill, effectiveness will be reduced.

Hey ladies—calling all women out there—we’re putting together a survey about oral hormonal contraceptives.

It’s totally anonymous, just looking to get a sense of everyone's actual takes and perspectives on the whole thing...

Basically, this is all being done for a university student project.

We’re really hoping for a good turnout here... if you could spare a few minutes of your free time to help us get some solid, representative data, we’d really appreciate it.

Just follow the link below.

Does a prescription for any specific pill at any pharmacy now carry a six-month validity period? Thanks! 🙂

I was on Yasmin for about three years. Just quit last month. My period was supposed to show up last Friday or Saturday, but so far, nothing. I’m assuming it’s pretty standard for things to be a bit off while my body recalibrates, but I wanted to know—has anyone else dealt with this?

So, about a year ago, I was on Yasmin and honestly, it worked wonders for me. I took a little break, but about a month ago, I started on these low-dose Lindynette pills. The thing is, I haven’t noticed any change in my skin at all. Those tiny breakouts are still hanging around. My OBGYN actually suggested switching to Lindynette because of a fibroid I have. Is anyone else here taking Lindynette? How long did it take before you saw an improvement in your skin? I know these things take time to kick in, but with Yasmin, I saw a difference after just a month, and right now, I’m seeing absolutely nothing.🤷

Greetings to everyone! Today marks the start of my antibiotic course—I'll be taking them for seven days—and my final pill from this pack will be this coming Thursday, after which comes a seven-day break.
Now, I find myself wondering—should I perhaps begin a new pack immediately without waiting? Additionally, does the requirement for seven extra days of contraception count from the moment I take the last antibiotic, or from the very first dose?
Please forgive my persistence—I simply wish to be certain.😢

Hey everyone, quick question! I had my period about two weeks ago. I finished my last birth control pill about a week ago, so I'm not using that method anymore. Since then, I've had protected sex, but now I’ve noticed some bleeding. Has anyone else dealt with this after stopping the pill? I definitely plan on checking in with my gynecologist, but since it's late, I figured I'd ask here first! 😁

Keep taking your pills as usual. Use backup protection during the first seven days of the new pack. Basically, always look at it as seven consecutive days of uninterrupted use—once you've hit seven days of steady intake without interruptions from antibiotics or vomiting, you're covered.

Antibiotic efficacy spans from the first day to the last day of the course. As for the extra protection, that starts after the very last dose of antibiotics.

I'm on Jasmine pills. I missed the last two in my pack—just my luck. The instructions say to take a seven-day break before starting the next pack. My withdrawal bleeding after the last cycle was super light, barely lasted a day or two. It’s been exactly a week since I finished them, so I wanted to know—can I just jump back into the pills today without needing extra protection?

I’ve been on Cilest for two years now, and last night, while taking my pill, the very last tablet in the pack slipped right down the drain.😕 (The foil somehow just popped open on its own.)
Basically, I have nine pills left before my cycle ends, but now I’m missing that final one.
So, here’s what I need to know:
Can I just take 20 tablets instead of 21 and then take my seven-day break? Is that actually safe, or does the system count that as a missed dose?
It feels pretty ridiculous to go out and buy an entire new box just because of one single pill.🤷

If I caught that right, you just finished your seven-day break. If so, use backup protection for the first seven days of the next pack just to be safe. Better to be certain.

I’ve had a backup plan for situations like this for a long time. You wouldn't believe how useful it comes in handy. 😁
You can do that. See the post above. No need to buy another box right now, but having a backup for times like this is smart.
It counts as a missed pill. To be safe, use extra protection for the first seven days of the pack.

Thanks, Melody🙂>

I'm actually gearing up for a trip, so I'll definitely be swinging by the pharmacy for another pack before I head out. (It's a much better move than relying on backup protection for seven days)😉
