We’ve finally uncovered the truth behind how that famous photo of the Loch Ness Monster actually came to be.

I honestly don't get these global internet trends. Like, people photoshopping every random stupid thing onto a picture of Pluto, or acting like Jared Leto being the Joker is some life-altering event—when he basically just shows up for three seconds in the trailer. Or how a two-minute Batman vs. Superman teaser becomes this massive global phenomenon overnight...

I guess I just don't understand much of how the internet works these days. Especially when major players like CNN or ESPN include comments from total strangers on X as if they actually matter for their reporting. It seems like it isn't even about having a few dozen thousand followers anymore, which used to be the standard for an idea to gain traction. Now, it feels like a random person's comment can be treated as significant even when discussing events watched by billions.

Or someone misses a penalty on 9GAG, and by the next morning, there are already forty different memes and GIFs calling it a "fail."

It all feels a bit exhausting, I suppose.

I just fell for the marketing hype and finally watched that trailer. It honestly looks like a movie made for five-year-olds, I guess. But I really don't doubt it'll pull in billions and billions of dollars, though. I suppose that's just how the 21st century works.

Look, let's just let some people enjoy these kinds of movies in peace, ☕ honestly, I can't decide who's more exhausting: the folks who go in expecting a cinematic masterpiece just because the trailer looked slick, or the ones who start trashing the whole thing before they've even sat down in the theater based on a thirty-second clip.

I totally think people should be free to enjoy those kinds of movies, or any other genre for that matter, but I find it a bit frustrating that they’re almost the only thing showing in theaters these days. If you aren't into superhero flicks in their thousandth incarnation, I guess there isn't much left for you at a major multiplex. The big Hollywood studios are just chasing the money, which makes sense from a business standpoint—and I suppose it's the same for the actors—but as a moviegoer, I just wish there were more high-quality options available. I can always find whatever I want to watch via a torrent to satisfy my hunger for better stories, but watching a film in a theater just adds a different dimension to the experience.

As for trailers, I feel like they pretty much give everything away. They really do tell you everything. Since the people making the movie are usually the ones behind the trailer, I guess it's unlikely that one would be great while the other is complete garbage.

Is this off-topic or just the movie sub? Either way, you end up in the same spot... 🤣

Wait, are you saying you haven't seen a single trailer that turned out way better than the actual movie? Or that you've never watched a trailer where half the scenes don't even show up in the final cut? I guess that happens because sometimes a completely different agency handles the trailer and the whole marketing campaign compared to the crew making the actual film. I might agree with you somewhat, but only partially. Usually, I can spot a dud right from the trailer, but plenty of times a trailer has tricked me—like those comedies where they cram all the funny bits into the promo to make it look better than it is. A good example would be "Men Who Stare at Goats." And I know I've spent a lot of time waiting for a specific scene I saw in a trailer, only to find out it wasn't even in the movie.

It used to be all about politics and scandals, and now we're stuck talking about movies. I guess that's just where we've landed...

I’m with Jessica Gonzalez on this one. The real issue is that there’s zero alternative to these massive blockbusters. Look, I don't have anything against those kinds of flicks personally—they might even hold up okay in their own niche—but man, they just choke out every other decent idea trying to get made. It sucks, but hey, it's all about the bottom line. Nothing we haven't seen before.

What’s everyone cooking up today? Is anyone else still dreaming about those old Protexn days, or have you all finally moved on from the glory of the golden age? Where did all that classic style go? 🤣

I see everyone sharing this and acting like it’s some revelation, yet all I see is my buddy looking like an absolute idiot, and apparently, a whole lot of people agree 🤷 even though he hasn't said anything remotely intelligent...

Whenever the holiday rush hits, the traffic is just relentless. You could have the most expansive interstate system in the country, but even then, it can't quite swallow that many travelers at once. When I think about how Americans hit the road during the summer, with massive gridlock stretching from the Northeast down through every major corridor, 9.3 miles it honestly becomes a complete disaster...

In the end, it’s just the usual amount of unnecessary drama. If you have your car, the AC is blasting, and you're just sitting there waiting, it really isn't much of an issue 🙄
