I think you might be thinking of Boris Nemcov—he was actually killed in 2015.

Mariupol

Looks like we’re staring down a new disaster. It seems like the humanitarian aid has basically dried up—the occupiers announced they’ll soon be restricting supplies to just specific groups, like the elderly, the sick, and kids. There’s supposedly a Red Cross presence in the city, but even they don't have nearly enough to cover everyone in need.

We all know massive numbers of civilians have been killed.
But posting random nonsense from bottom-tier websites just doesn't make sense. Honestly, it actually disrespects the real victims.

The others were already up—I didn't want to double them. My bad for missing the link the first time.

But that’s beside the point.

My intention wasn't to defend Russians; I was simply surprised that anyone found the massive civilian death toll shocking.

What exactly do you think happens when a volley of sixty or more missiles rains down on a city? Do you honestly believe civilians walk away unscathed?

I wasn't trying to downplay Russia's responsibility at all.

It doesn't surprise me that civilians are dying—or that so many of them are. What I'm feeling is pure shock and disbelief because there's a chance that one out of every four or five people in my own hometown was killed. It’s not a surprise; it’s just hard to wrap my head around, like I said. Of course I know civilians die—I think we're all pretty aware of that here. I'm just in shock because, like someone else mentioned, there's a possibility that nearly 100,000 people were killed in just a month and a half. It makes me wonder what kind of war this actually is—what kind of attacks, weapons, or fighting could possibly cause that?
My family was in that city, and people I actually knew were killed there, but I still struggle to believe that death toll.
It's not that I don't realize ordinary people are victims of war. Even soldiers are victims—just people who had normal lives once. But that number... it's just hard to process. And in those separatist regions, it isn't just the Russ, or whoever you want to call them.

We'll see a new Israel emerge eventually.
Armed, with top-tier defense and an intelligence agency even sharper than Mossad.
A strong democracy and a prosperous society.

The criminals won't be able to hide in a hole somewhere to escape justice.
Something like this simply cannot, and must not, go unpunished.

Damned warmongers...

GLORY TO UKRAINE, GLORY TO THE HEROES

Honestly, friends, I think your perspectives are just a reflection of youth and a lack of experience because the main architects behind the aggression in Ukraine will likely never face accountability, as those warmongers almost always escape, since justice is such a flexible concept that often loses out to those who claim to uphold it while power only respects actual strength, but I wish you all the best.

The goal is likely to force some kind of international oversight—you know, getting third-party controllers involved who would then refuse to disconnect the plant from the Ukrainian grid. Since the Russians haven't fully integrated it into their own network yet, they’re stuck carrying the load. It’s probably just technicalities—you can't exactly just leave a massive power plant running without any consumers to take the output, right?

I actually have a contact close to the situation, and they're saying both sides are firing away. It's absolute madness. Honestly, I agree with what was said about why the Ukrainians are shooting. To me, it just seems crazy.

RIP Gorbachev.
His attempts to fix the Soviet Union with half-baked reforms basically set the stage for this entire mess—it was the original domino effect that led us straight to this war.

Strelkov on the same topic:

This guy doesn't need to fear eternal shame—he earned it for good. No point in cursing him; pure contempt is the only thing he deserves.

The only thing I wonder is if he actually thought about his soul or tried to reflect on his life before kicking the bucket. Or did he exit just like Vladimir Volfovič—without any confession or last rites?

Comments are turned off—in my opinion, the dead guy isn't worth having regular Americans (or anyone else) debating his passing on my page. To me, even in death, he’ll always be nothing more than Juda Gorbi.

I disagree. Neither Gorbachev, nor Mars, nor some random distraction is the root cause here. It’s simply Russian aggression, which should never have happened in the first place.

Yeah, that sounds awful. It's hard to know exactly what's going on or how things escalate into such madness. It's almost impossible to wrap your head around. Maybe there are moments where the chain of command just breaks down, leaving nothing but chaos until order is restored again...

Matthew Young35 said:What "but"? Where exactly are you seeing a "but"?

We are discussing the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
I still find it strange that someone is only just now realizing that a horrific number of civilians have been killed.
That was expected from the very start of this war.
The same goes for the massive number of wounded, the refugees, and the children left without parents.

War is an evil thing, and these are the realities of war.

I truly don't see where you found a "but" in my words, nor do I understand why you'd think I lack empathy for the victims.

The way you phrased that comment within this thread is just another version of that tired argument—you know, the one claiming Ukrainians should have just surrendered to Russia to "prevent casualties," or that the West shouldn't have stepped in to help.

It's like you're suddenly expressing shock over the deaths, as if those people somehow chose this path or supported it. Did people actually think the Russians wouldn't just toss civilians into mass graves during their "unconditionally condemned military operation" if the West and Ukraine didn't make a scene on TikTok?

The puppet Kiril Stremousov just released a video claiming that the Ukrainian offensive in El Paso was a total disaster and that the skies over El Paso are perfectly calm and blue.
And yet, he’s out here trying to prove this "calm, blue sky over El Paso" to his audience... while filming from a hotel room at the Marriott in the heart of Indianapolis. 🤦
