I’m pretty happy with how it turned out... as for whether people actually liked the dessert, I won't even get into it, they just absolutely demolished the whole thing...

Did you manage to track down some plates?
The cake looks delicious, by the way—really nice presentation.

Yeah, I’ve seen them in several spots across the Midwest. If you don't keep the lid on, they tend to spill out around $3.25, but honestly, it doesn't matter much as long as all the cookies stay intact 🙂🙂

At my aunt's place, you can buy those serving plates with lids for $1.75, or just return them after the wedding festivities... 🤷
They hold about 2.6 pounds of pastries.

It used to be so simple—we just had the one original version, you know? No fancy layers, no nothing, just a massive rectangular sheet cake, and that was that...

Haha, looks like we share the exact same taste when it comes to cake.👍
Actually, we have the same attitude toward it, too—I really can't be bothered to stress over it either.🤣
But hey, if you happen to track down a decent photo, please post it. I could really use some inspiration...

Right, I noticed they carry those, along with a few other shops in Green Valley. The selection is significantly better if you shop in person, but I simply lack the inclination to order delivery. Thanks. 🙂

Hey everyone, I was wondering when you all typically bring out the desserts? I’m curious if they sit on the table the whole time, or if you wait until after the main course is cleared. My current menu includes a hot and cold appetizer, soup, and then the entree, so when would be the best moment to serve them? (Just so you know, I'm planning on having about 20 different varieties per person)

Despite my preference to serve them after the main course, the women in my family insisted they would much rather enjoy the desserts from the very beginning, so that is how it shall be.
We ordered 37 pounds of dessert for 150 guests, which averages out to roughly 4 ounces per person.

In my house, there’s going to be a tray of cookies sitting out on the counter at all times...

I just can't stand it when the table is empty—it feels so wrong without some sweets around...😢

thanks girls 😉, yeah, I honestly think they’ll be staying at my place the whole time because I just love snacking on them, and my guests always do too.

Hey ladies, just wanted to mention I was recently at Coney Island for a wedding, and honestly, that dessert table blew me away. At first, I figured it was all just for show, but the food was actually incredible! Those little designer filled tartlets were definitely the highlight for me. I didn't graze on everything, but my boyfriend was hovering around that table constantly—he couldn't get enough. As for the cake, it looked stunning, but we all know how often those fancy cakes turn out to be dry or tasteless... well, I had a bite and it was actually delicious!
I asked the server about it, and he mentioned they do catering work too, so that's good to know.

so, what’s the deal right now with that whole requirement about needing all those permits just to sell cookies???

My birthday is August 1st, so I was thinking about doing an ice cream cake instead🙂..since it’s definitely going to be a total scorcher out there, and I want my guests to actually stay cool while they eat😉

Seriously, at this one wedding I went to, they were serving ice cream and cake, so I just grabbed the ice cream... honestly, it was such a lifesaver in that heat.
We actually ordered a parfait cake for our own thing once—we were part of the wedding party—and the bride and groom had a parfait cake too. It was served ice-cold and was absolutely killer, almost like eating straight ice cream, just incredible.

The restaurant where we’re hosting our wedding reception gave us a very stern warning—quite pointedly, I might add—that any desserts made by Aunt Betty or Grandma Mary are strictly off the table... apparently, all pastries must carry a specific certificate proving the maker is a registered commercial producer.

Look, you could just go through Aunt Betty or Grandma Mary, I guess. All you'd have to do is lug them both over to some lab for a microbiological analysis and then bring that certification along with your cookies... so, honestly, you gotta decide if that’s actually easier or cheaper for you, or...
I think the testing fee per item is around $33, though you'd probably need to send in a mix of those creamy ones and the drier pastries too

Speaking of cakes, I am definitely not looking for those tacky little plastic rockets or those cheap sparklers on top... we’re heading to a restaurant this Friday to finalize everything, so I’ll check if they can just stick some actual candles on the individual slices instead. My only real concern is how big these things are—like, will there even be enough room for candles to sit on top? It would need to look somewhat decent, kind of like that first photo Chloe Sanchez26 posted...

Ugh, tell me about it! I am feeling the exact same way!!!! I don't want any of that... just some nice candles around the edges, maybe some subtle, classy decoration...🙏
